March 2025 AOS Filers
TheBabyDerp replied to KStr2022's topic in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports
Be Patient, be patient, be patient. In case I forgot to mention it, be patient. Unfortunately, the hardest part about all this is the wait times. Also, sometimes cases can be vastly different than others. For example, most people who filed at the same time as us got their work permits within about 40-45 days. Very quick turn around time. However, there are a select few outliers who are still waiting for theirs. If for some reason you become an outlier, stay patient. We are currently an outlier for post interview wait time. Most people seem to get approval 24 hours after interview. However, we just hit 3 weeks today, and some others here are 60+ days into the wait. Stay patient. -

Good luck to them as well. I believe it is extremely rare to wait more than 120 days after an interview for a decision. If it gets to that point, it may be worth considering a writ of mandamus. With that said, I saw several cases on the sub reddit that were approved 90 and 100 days after their interview. I am not going to worry until we hit that 100 day mark. -

Good Luck. Today is 20 days for us, and tomorrow exactly 3 weeks. -

That was our thought process as well. Hopefully it will get someone to do something. 😁 Our officer told us everything was perfect and even gave us a timeline for the delivery of packet and GC in the mail. I wonder what the hang up is 🤷♂️ Montgomery Field Office is known for being quick. One person I know, and their family, got their naturalization approved in like 2 months. Granted, those are quicker anyway. -

That is interesting. Yeah, I figure the API update was related to the FOIA request. I wonder if the estimator drops the time as a response to the API update. 🤣 -

Yes, I meant an FOIA request. I had saw some people on reddit doing this during the processing. Oh well. I don't think it will delay anything. We only requested a small amount of information, not the entire file. To my understanding, aren't these FOIA requests handled separately anyway? I was under the impression USCIS had dedicated FOIA staff to respond to these requests. -

We got an API update from Saturday.. "updatedAt": "2025-09-27", However, we did an FOIE request out of curiosity about a week, and they gave us acknowledgment Saturday. These could be related, but I am unsure. Otherwise, the only change I noticed was that the estimated time went from 30 months to 14 months. 🤣 -

Best of luck to everyone. It's frustrating for sure to have to wait for so long after an interview. I have noticed though that some people get approval at exact times after an interview. 24 hours, 2 weeks, 1 month, 60 days, 100 days, etc. At least that is what I saw on the subreddit. Not trying to get anyone's hopes up though, just found it interesting. -

We may be in the same position now. Did you ever receive any update? You can also do the API check. I just checked ours, no API updates since interview was scheduled. -

Verbal approval, but still no update in the portal. 🙂 Hopefully it won't be months away. 😅 -

Still no approval in the system. It is what it is. Not worried about it though, just giving an update. -

Forgot to add this: For those curious, we used Simple Citizen. The K1 process was smooth as well. -

Long post, but it is our interview experience at Montgomery. TDLR: Verbal approval right away. Nothing requested. Very nice officer. We had our interview yesterday afternoon. I am glad our interview was in the afternoon, because we are 3 hours away from the Montgomery office. We registered at the intake window. About 15 minutes later, around the scheduled interview time, we were called back to the intake window. Apparently, her registration failed in the system. The worker registered us a second time, and we went back to our seats. We were called back within 2 minutes because it had failed to register us again. We waited this time at the window, but also failed to register. The worker went ahead and notified the officer that we were present. We were told the system was having issues, but my wife has finger print issues. She cannot use biometric identification on phones for example, so I believe this was likely the cause. Regardless, the worker was nice about the situation. Immediately after the worker notified the officer that we were waiting, the officer came and got us from the waiting room. He was extremely nice. Honestly, one of the nicest people I have ever dealt with. He really put us at ease. We had prepared a significant amount of documents and evidence. We weren't asked for a single piece of documentation except for identification to make sure he had the right people. We presented our Alabama ID's, and that was sufficient. He told us our file was complete and we would be approved. He confirmed our address and asked a few questions. None of these questions were about our relationship. It was questions from the I-485 about drugs trafficking, human trafficking, murder, torture, etc. The questions were only about 2 minutes. I understand why they ask these questions in person from a legal perspective. And then he had my wife sign something for the I-485. He gave us a timeline as well, and informed us about an 1800 number if for some reason the card doesn't get delivered after being approved. He also made us aware about the I-751 process in 2 years, as well as the N-400 process. We were already aware, but I appreciate that he went into more detail about this. He said that they typically approve I-751 the same day as N-400 just due to the timing of everything. He was prepared to answer any questions we may have had. Overall, a very good experience. I will update when it is approved in the system. -

Perhaps, you got extra doses. The civil surgeon my wife went to said she could come back for optional doses not required for immigration. I didn't really look into the optional doses, but he marked her off complete on the I-693. -

Well that certainly had me a little stressed. We found the DS-3025 from SLEC pretty quickly, and she did not get the polio vaccine there. An hour later, we finally found the copy of the I-693 from the civil surgeon. She got the polio vaccine at the civil surgeon.(OPV weirdly enough). The civil surgeon also marked the "Applicant completed vaccination requirements..." box. I think she will be good then. -

I did a search on the subreddit. I saw some people who got approvals at about 60 days. It definitely does happen. -

Is an updated vaccination record required? We are about 15 days out from our interview. I was under the assumption the vaccines from K1 Medical, and state-side medical were sufficient. -

As others have said, it varies case to case and office to office. I would imagine the California USCIS field offices can experience delays due to the higher volume of immigration out there. I am not sure if this helps, but I checked stats on https://www.casestatusext.com/. I did a rough estimate for I-485 cases filed in March. (This includes non K1 cases as well). About 50% of those who filed in March are still waiting for an interview to be scheduled. You are still well within the current "normal" processing time. Hang in there. And you are right, many field offices are clearing up late 2024 cases. Best of luck to you all. -

I understand. Just be patient and don't worry too much, yet. I would say give it a good 90-120 days. If they didn't point out anything wrong in the interview, and you aren't getting an RFE, it's likely just back log. Are you assigned to the Atlanta USCIS field office? I have heard they are quite slow. -

If I am not mistaken, the 120 day law only applies to naturalization interviews. This law does not apply in this case. With that said, did you have an interview yet? -

As OldUser said, every case is different. With that being said, with y'all being in Huntsville, you should be assigned to the same field office in Montgomery. Hopefully, they will show you the same timeliness. While waiting for interview, we monitored our case status on the https://www.casestatusext.com/. It allows you to see all sorts of statistics. It is worth checking out. It put my mind at ease seeing cases being processed and updated every day. Don't worry too much. -

Hopefully y'all get an interview scheduled soon. We have had no updates since April 19th for green card, and the case is with NBC. EAD was approved and shipped within 2 weeks after the biometrics though. -

Case status was reworded to "Case Is Still Being Processed By USCIS". Previously, it said it was "actively" being processed. I don't believe this is anything other than a wording change. Did anyone also receive this new wording?
