  1. hey ruth,

if i understand correctly, Yes it sounds good. the italian will need to use the name u used while there. ur maiden name!the NVC will have ur maiden name on the forms ur hubby submits and will have copies of ur passport(s) coz u have to send those also(if i understnad the process correctly). It is normal to take ur hubbys' last name, so all the pieces of the puzzle should fit together jus fine.if i am incorrect bout any of this i'm sure someone here will point it out. none of us like/need misinformation.my wife will be getting her police clearance from HongKong so it will also have her maiden name on it.good luck

  2. Hey Amal,

Great idea to consolidate all that good stuff in one big book. I have no doubt that other culturally inspired cookbooks will appear on VJ now. Good job on being the first to do what others have only been pondering. I hope you tossed in a "Big Shout Out " to all your VJ homies(how much more ghetto can i word it?) hahaha. Anyway, I'm in. PM me when you get your paypal account squared away. Once again.....Strong work!!!!

  3. Hey Folks,

My wife seems to have an old debt of an unpaid loan from when she worked in Hong Kong that she was just contacted about. This loan was issued thru a finance company in the PI to her in HK. It seems they have offices in many places where OFWs are prevalent. She has a current NBI clearence(one month old) she got in prep for her interview. The current clearence is good/clear. Anyway, can this debt affect her NBI clearence? Will this current NBI be good for interview within the next 4 months?

  4. hey mel,

its up to you,but i am in the same boat this year and last year.i did not want to confuse some IRS employee by submitting any overseas finance docs.so i jus filed normal 1040EZ.besides you dont want your return flagged and sitting in a pile waiting for a supervisor to review them when you may need a speedy file completed. I will need these docs to send to my wife for her interview and dont want them tied up.I may be alittle paranoid but I jus dont have alot of faith in the IRS's ability to promptly deal with something "different".Besides, will you really come out on top doing this. I figured it out and for me the gain was nowhere worth it. Good luck

  5. Yah,

if you need to stay longer than 21 days just go to BI office where ever you are and take 2 passport photos from any photo store there and you will fill out a couple of forms and pay 2300 peso +/- and they will extend your stay for another 38 days. visit the BI office prior to your 21 days though.I do this each time I go there. Good luck/ have fun

  6. hey ray,

We had our son in Gensan july 07 in the hospital there. The doctor botched(my opinion) the labor induction and had to due a C-section. Anyway, the total out of pocket was somewhere around php50k.They required a 10k deposit to start the C-section even though the baby and mom were in distress. It all worked out ok in the end but many things must be paid up-front. then the balance was due prior to discharge. My wife did have Fil-health,national insurance, so this reduced the total to the 50k range. If all goes well and no surgery is needed then it should be quite a bit less.I work in a hospital here in the U.S. so needless to say the whole thing was a real eye-opener about how good we have it here. Other people that i talked to have confirmed my hypothesis that if they know an American is paying for everything then C-sections seem to happen alittle quicker. I was not able to be with my wife during the induction process so i cant confirm that her/baby were really in danger thus nessesitating an emergency section and the doctor was not comfortable answering my very detailed questions as to what went wrong with the induction. She only said that there was Cephalopelvic disproportion and yes i do know what that is.all in all things worked out and mom and son did great recovering. I hope things work out great for all three of you. Good Luck!!

P.S. they still do things the old way there, medicaly speaking.

  7. hello all, sorry i could not post earlier, but limited access here in the province.all went welll at the USEM in manila.only a short interigation from the CO.our sons CRBA/passport on on the way.of course we did have to pay the Delbros syndicate their cut.oh well, i am just happy this step is done.my only real advice at this point is to have all your proof together tight or you will be looking at DNA test.we got away without the DNA test coz the CO looked at our son and laughed saying this is obviously your child, hahaha.anyway i will be checking in a couple more times during this trip.i will be more than happy to answer any specifics asap. take care & good hunting

  8. Hello all,

I will be in Gensan, well Maasim actually, in july after our appt at the USEM for our sons CRBA. If anyone would like to meet for lunch/dinner that would be great. We love the sushi place in KCC mall.I will post while i am there so we can keep in touch. I would love for my wife to meet some of the great people here on VJ and exchange stories. She is a member here but does not post coz she does not realize how many great people there are here that can help explain all this visa stuff. Looking forward to meeting in Gensan. Take care

  9. tz,

Our appt for our sons CRBA is july 7. From everything i have read after the CRBA is issued and your son has a US passport he is treated as a US citizen. No need for CFO, etc. He will maintain his dual citizenship coz he was born in the Fils. As long as he has his CRBA/passport he is to be treated as a US citizen.I will post about our appt as asap after we are done. Good luck with the appt on the 9th.

  10. Thanks for the input, all of you. It is my understanding that some people have recieved their clearence direct to them even though the HK police website says it will send it to the Embassy. What ever works,I dont care how we recieve it as long as some one gets it. It will be some time before we get our NOA2, but I am getting all the info I can so I will be prepared to explain to my wife how to go about this process.Take care

  11. It is my understanding that it must be sent to the police.Someone told my wife she recieved her cert from HK after she had her interview and got paper from the CO to request the cert.the cert was then sent directly to the USEM.Meanwhile she was on adminreview. After the USEM got the cert they ok'd/released her visa. This is second-hand info from a friend of my wife so I will continue to search for more reliable intel. When we are at the USEM july7 for our son's CRBA appt I will ask aboiut this and post asap.

  12. Hey marrs,

try the USEM manila website. that is where i got my"Affidavit of Parentage and Physical Presence in the United States".i filled this out and sent it to the embassy with all the other required stuff. I did not sign it coz i will be at the embassy for our sons appt july 7,so i will sign it them in the presence of the CO. Good Luck

  13. Somtetimes I love this site becuase of the helpful people and sometimes I cannot stand it becuase of the judgmental ones. We are all going through difficulties due to this situation, some of us more than others. Some of us have a abundance of patience and some of us have none. Some of us go insane waiting on this process to see completion some of us are already there  But all in all we all are waiting and suffering becuase we do not have our family members here.

I do not believe calling the RFE line to get information is holding up anyone elses case just as I do not believe that "not" calling if you do not have a RFE makes you "RIGHT" But just like everyone else this is just what I think. But really as long as you have satisfied your own conscience that should be all that matters! Get a grip people and lets try to encourage one another instead of always beating each other down over pettiness!

"Getting a grip" means not abusing a process put in place to help petitioners with legitimate RFE concerns over you just trying to 'satisfy your conscience'.

WOW!!! Look Ma, the caged animals are turning on each other.Get the hose on 'em,quick!!

  14. Hello Odds,

Congrats on the pregnacy. You should have sent an NSO copy of the Marriage Cert with your I-130 & your I-129f.The local cert doesn't wash.As far as the baby is concerned get a CRBA(Consular Report of Birth Abroad) after the baby is born and your wife has the cert of birth. If the baby has the CRBA & U.S. passport he/she wont have to be involved in the visa process, for the most part.I am going back to Manila July 2 for our appt at the embassy for CRBA.I will post about it as soon as we get thru it.Good luck

  15. Hi B,

the side effects are very minor, if anything.Like all vaccines there is possible allergic reactions that may happen.Studies have shown that these also are usually minor. If you dont have any history of reations to vaccines it is not a bad idea to just get the hpv shot.If you have a personal reason to not get it then tell them so. I cant see this being a reason for denial. All vaccines are not mandatory. I know this does not really answer your question, but is something to think about.Take care
