    If she can convince the officer of ties to home country, and is truthful about the purpose of visit i.e. visiting husband, would the cousin marriage still be a red flag?

    Hello everyone! I am a doctor from Pakistan and got my J1 visa approved for post graduate training in Indiana. My wife's J2 visa was rejected on account of 1st cousin marriage being illegal and unrecognised in the state of Indiana. The visa officer asked us if we were first cousins and we told her the truth. My question is, can my wife now apply for a B1/B2 visa with the purpose of visiting me, and would that visa be treated differently? Or would it end up being rejected on the basis of cousin marriage being illegal? Thank you!
