  1. Hi everyone, I hope this is the right place to ask for some advice regarding the U.S. citizenship application process. I’m hoping someone here may have gone through a similar experience. I’ve been a permanent resident for over 10 years. I received my green card through my previous marriage got divorced but I recently remarried. Now I’m planning to apply for U.S. citizenship this year, and I’m a bit confused about how to proceed with the application, especially regarding my name. All of my current documents — including my green card and IDs — are still under my previous married name. However, I would like to apply for citizenship under my new married name. My questions are: Should I apply for citizenship under my new married name and include my marriage certificate and divorce decree to support the name change? Or should I apply under my old married name so that it matches the name on my green card, and wait to update everything after I naturalize? I haven’t updated any of my documents yet to reflect my new name because I’m still trying to decide the best route to take. If anyone has experience with this or any advice to share, I would really appreciate it! Thank you so much in advance!
