My husband and I recently got our I-130 approved and we are starting on the NVC process, but we have some concerns because our case is a bit complex. Our story: My husband is a Libyan citizen, but is a recognized refugee in Cyprus, applied for asylum in 2018 and received recognized status in 2020, and has lived in Cyprus since. Our first concern is that there doesn't seem to be a way for him to get a police certificate from Libya, as from everything I've read he would need to physically present in Libya which he can not do due to his status. Has anyone in a similar situation successfully used to feature on the application to explain why a police certificate can not be obtained? My second concern is all the horror stories I have read regarding visa applicants from MENA countries and Administrative Processing and form DS-5535. His asylum case granted based on religious persecution and him being an atheist and involved in an atheist organization in Libya. Would including any of this be helpful in our case to avoid the scrutiny people from Muslim countries face from Immigration? Many thanks.
