Hello everyone,
I’m preparing to file Form DS-11 OR N‑600 to document my U.S. citizenship acquired at birth through my father, who is a U.S. citizen. Unfortunately, he has been estranged from our family since shortly after I was born and I have no way to obtain Form DS‑5507 from him. I’d appreciate any feedback or similar experiences you’ve had.
My Situation:
Birth: 2005 in Abroad, to parents married in 1987.
Father’s Citizenship: He obtained U.S. citizenship and his first U.S. passport in 1996.
Physical Presence: He lived in the U.S. for 5+ years before my birth, including 2+ years after age 14.
Estrangement: No contact with him since early childhood I think when I was 7-8 last met him; he remains married to my mother but is unreachable.
Documents I Have:
My Birth Certificate (lists both parents)
Parents’ Marriage Certificate
Father’s Expired U.S. Passport (copy)
Employment Records (2010 HR letter showing U.S. work history dating back to the 1990s)
Bank Letters U.S. banks (1980s–2000s) they show accounts opened in early dates.
Pakistani Passports with U.S. visa stamps
What I Need to Know:
Has anyone here successfully filed DS-11 OR N‑600 without DS‑5507, relying on an affidavit + secondary evidence?
What types of additional “physical presence” proof (e.g., mortgage, utility bills) have you submitted in an RFE?
Did you receive an RFE, and what did it ask for? How did you respond?
Any tips on organizing or tabbing evidence to avoid an RFE or denial?
Thank you in advance for your insights—any examples, pointers, or encouragement would be greatly appreciated!
