  1. ok so i came over on a k1 visa and got married and we have been married for a year and i have lived with her the whole time but now she wants a divorce but she said she would wait til i have my citizenship to before she divorces me so my question is if we remain married and living together will immigration consider us to be lying about our marriage and deport me becuase the marriage is no longer like it was. would it be better to get a divorce and wait 5 years or could i just remain married and living with her til i get my citizenship because when we got married it was the real deal and we were going to spend our life together but she grew apart from me =/ so i didnt get married just to get a green card or citizenship

Much better to do the divorce and wait 5 years, at least you know you don't fool anybody.

  2. Good morning VJ members,

I am not sure if somebody received similar update, please share if you did.

This is status update from USCIS website:

    Initial Review

On September 13, 2013, we transferred your I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN, to your local USCIS Office for further processing. The new office has jurisdiction over your case and will send you a decision as soon as processing is complete or you will be notified if further information or action is needed. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.

I have no idea what it means...Could it mean that it's transfered to Nebraska or Texas service center?

    Thank you

They usually do that, to speed up the processing.

    Goodluck and God bless!

  3. I arrived on Friday the 13th at the Detroit International Airport. Let me tell you the little bump I had to overcome.

So, I was at the immigration counter and the officer looks at my paper. Asks me a few questions. Looks at the paper and then calls on his walkie talkie: Supervisor needed for K1 at counter 38.

Supervisor: Do you know that he can send you back to the Philippines right now? You were supposed to be here in August.

Me: calm blank look while praying...

    Supervisor: Where were you?

Me: I was in Singapore, working.

Supervisor: You were supposed to be here in August.

Me: Well, look. (Pointing to my passport) My visa was issued in July and I have until next week to be here.

Supervisor: No, look (pointing to the I-129F). This (Feb approval stamp) means you can get married. This one (passport) says you gotta get here. Now, you have to get married within 3 months or else you have to go home.

Me: Yes, I'm getting married on the 4th of Oct. Thank you.

Lesson learned: Be calm. Explain your side. And I really don't think that the approved I-129F means your K1 visa is approved.

    Congrats! And Welcome to America!

  4. My interview schedule was 7:30 am ,since i live in province and trying not to miss my bus to go home i though going early in embassy will help to finish ryt away (IM WRONG)..

I went to US embassy at 4:30 am,theres a lot of applicants already in line ...6:00am when they allowed us to enter in the gate of embassy ,first ..they told us that we need to ready all the DS forms 2 copies of 156,157 and 1 copy of 156k together wth a passport...after checking that u will proceed to embassy for scanning ur bags...electronics/food are not allowed inside ,so if ever u have leave that to your relatives or whoever who is wth you that time..after scanning u will fall inline again for them to check ur papers and gve you your number...then proceed to the waiting area....you need to review your DS Forms carefully and dont leave any blanks ..if you are sure enough that ur papers is good go to window 39 and leave it der...waiting is the hardest part dotn let ur number pass or else it will take time for it to pop up again..im a little bit disappointed in this part coz most of the co-applicants who came late finished der interview earlier than me..its already 11:30 am and guess what my number still not pop up on monitor...im a lil bit worried but no choice need to wait more...after few minutes finally they satrt to get my finger prints ...and my interview wth filipino (she asked for my BC,NBI,CENOMAR,AFFDVT OF SUPPORT and PICTURES )and american consul followed(HE JUST ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT MY FIANCE AND I SO I FND IT EASY)(ITS TAKES 5-10 minutes interview for each consul) im hungry and tired but when i heard that my visa is approved i feel happY AND i feel safe smile.png... time to wait again ..3:30pm when my name called on window 73 he told me that just wait for my visa to be deliver and told me that i can go home now....the end hiihihi

some of us worried what to bring as evidence ,in my batch case they just asked for pictures ...godbless and goodluck to all

I can feel your Happinesssmile.png , like what i feel when i pass my k1 interview 5 years and 4 months ago.

    Congratulations!good.gif

    God Bless You!

  5. Finally a long journey has come to an end.. Here is my story to share with u guys !!

    NOA1 --- 17 April 2012

    NOA2 --- 5 january 2013

Had an interview at Islamabad embassy on 6 August 2013 and as usual they put me in AP..

Beneficiary is Male and category is CR1.. They retained my passport and give my all original docs back to me.. Even CO didn't ask for the wedding pictures.. Which is very strange for me on that moment.

Yesterday my status updated and changed to Ready from AP on 12 sept 2013.

Today morning it changed to AP and now in evening it changed to issued on the same day means 13 sept 2013... YAYYYYYY Finally a moment of JOY and Happiness smile.pngsmile.png ... i am so excited right now and thought to share my story here on great VJ forum which really help me a lot through all my journey..

Hope everyone get out of this AP soon.. !!

    Thanks !!

    Congratulations!

  6. Is there any reason to bring the old expired passport with CFO stamp in it when visiting? Some have told my wife she needs it, but I don't see why.

Doesn't hurt to bring it, better to have too much documents, expired passport, Marriage licensed, etc.

I have that kind of issue when i visit Philippines, they are super strict it makes my hair super curlygirlwerewolf2xn.gif

  7. Hello!

my interview in 3 days in sep 13, i need to postpone my interview to later date ,due to some current reasons, is this possible at present ? it's possible to postpone the interview or i'm late to ask currently the embassy for something like that
"got the interview letter from NVC on August first"
    Thank you!

You can call the number of USCIS, from the appoinment you received, there's always a number at the bottom. Im sure you can reschedule it.

    Goodluck!

    God Bless Always!

  8. Congratulations. I was talking to one of my family members who naturalized 3 years ago and she told me that citizenship is waaaaaaaaaaaaay easier then AOS and ROC. Less paper work, easier interview, way less stress. You are one stop closer to the end of your journey. Congratulations again.

Thanks! Yes, it was really easy just keep reading the book, Coz we never know what are the questions they are gonna ask,coz there are 100 questions with the answer in the book, all you need to do, read it and memorize it. they will prepare 10 questions to the applicant,Once you got the right answer to the first 6 thats it no more question.

  9. Congratulations!smile.pngdancin5hr.gifdancin5hr.gifdancin5hr.gif

Congratulations, one step closer to be an American.

I do not understand though, why you said that you are worried.

    Thank You!

Well, i'm worried when im thinking about the interview, coz i was thinking what if i forgot one word lolz:) but anyway, i remember everything word by word, by listening the audio everynight.

The result is so easy if you listen the audio everyday, you will remember the 1-100 questions with answers even in your sleep:)

  10. Im really Nervous about Naturalization Interview, Big reason what if i forgot some of the words, Did i have really have to memorize it word by word which i really did..

So what i did, After i got my booklet that they give me after my Biometrics, i read the book once a week, and i listen the audio every night, that i fall asleep most of the timeoops8rh.gif

So when i got my Interview today which was schedule at 12:30pm, and i check in 12:15pm, the guard told me just take a seat, just listen when your Name will be call, which i really pay attention, im so excited and just want this done right away.

So i wait, then i count how many people they call before me, they call 5 people before me, then by 1:00pm i was finally called.

    I have a super nice smiling C.Owow.gif

First, he ask me to raise my right hand, and swear everything i say is correct.

Ask my Name, Address, Phone number, Same job, do i file taxes every year, how many kids, still mariied?

How many times i travel outside the United States. and everything i fill out in the form N-400, which are the answers yesyes.gif or no.no0pb.gif

Then he said ok lets start your Interview:

1.Name 1 war that United States fought in 1900?

2.In House of Representatives has How many voting members?

3.How many years do we elect U.S Representatives?

4.Who is the Chief Justice of the United States now?

5.In what month do we vote for President?

6.Who is the Father of our Country?

star_smile.gif Since I answer the first 6 question he stop therestar_smile.gif , and he give me a piece of paper and told me, to read the 3rd sentence.

    1..........

    2..........

    3. Why do people come to America?reading.gif

After i read it, He give me another piece of paper and said to writeit down in number 3.

    1........

    2........

3.People come to America to be Free.

Then, he said that's your interview and he give me a piece of paper with a check mark:

You passed the tests of English and U.S. history and governmentkicking.gif

Congratulations!Your application has been recommended for approval. At this time, it appears that you have established your eligibility for naturalization. If final approval is granted, you will be notified when and where to report for the Oath Ceremony.

Can't wait for my letter in a week or 2.ClockWatch2.gif

    God Bless everyone.

  11. Our I485 was accepted on August 7th. We received and completed the biometrics appointment on August 31. We have received nothing since. Calling to find out staus and the system simply said that application is being processed at lees center and they received the fee for biometrics on august 7th? Local office is Milwaukee? Should we have some additional type of update by now? My wife received her work auth and tavel auth..through a expedite due to family death. Any ideas here?

For the adjustment of status it usually take 5-6 months for them to process, work authority and travel authority it usually take 3-5 months. Thats why everytime you check the status online the response is on processed, They did received everything you send, if they dont they will send you a noticed, just wait 5-6 months, if they dont send her card yet, thats the right time to call uscis. Hope this helps you a bit.

  12. me and my fiance are planning to get married here on philippines this december. but then in that case, we have to file for the CR-1 visa when he gets back in the US. i'm still thinking of having the k-1 visa which i heard is faster than the CR-1. help please on what to choose i just don't want to be away from him for a long time. thanks a lot for your opinions! i would greatly appreciate it =)

Apply the k-1 right away after he visit you, in that way, you dont wont be away from each other longer, if you apply for CR-1 after you get married there you need to wait for a year or couple years not sure.

but getting married in USA is more expensive than getting married in philippines, its your choice. Goodluck!

    God bless!

  13. Hello!

I am German and got married to a Us citizen February 2012.We have been together for 7 years now. We are using an immigration lawyer to help us with the paper work to apply for my green card.

I just checked my status today and 4 of the 3 case numbers that I received were denied.

The lawyer has not received the official letter stating the reason for the denial yet but I was wondering if you could give me some information about reasons that you have heard before.

The income level is not a problem in our case.

I thank everyone that can help me understand this situation a little bit better.

    Thanks

reason for denial- insufficient of evidence on your marriage/ relationship

Try to send affidavit from parents and friends who know about your relationship

    send pictures

    Joint bank account statement.

    .

Im sure the lawyer knows that.

    Goodluck.

  14. My wife left me almost a month ago and she has not seemed much in this marrriage. I don't know what to do. She refuses to communicate and prefers to have her single life back. I have no idea where she is now. I've heard she moved again and is now with other ppl I've never met. I looked today on the USCIS website and the status has changed. It now says: Your Case Status:

Card/ Document Production We have not had an interview or anything and when I've tried to call USCIS and let them know she left me and this marriage, they tell me they can't talk about the case unless the applicant is here with me. What sense does that make? I do not know what to do and it see by: Your Case Status:

Card/ Document Production. It means they are going to straight mail her green card to her, I thought we had to go through an interview process or something, not just HERE YOU GO. Any ideas or suggestions really would be appreciative.

I'm so sorry to hear about your story. anyways If the case status was already in card document production, they are going to send the card soon, not everybody have interview for (I-485 Conditional Green Card) the computer pick randomly, don't worry coz they are gonna send the card in your address, unless she already fill out the form for change address, however if you receive her mail from uscis try to call them back , don't open it coz that's not yours, ask them what to do, or send the card back to uscis, with an explaination letter.

    Goodluck!

  15. My wife went in today for her AOS interview today. We arrived about 45 minutes before the appointment time so we just waited in the lobby. They called us about 45 minutes after her appointment time. We were in and out in seriously about 10 minutes. We were probably the quickest of all the people interviewing for difference immigration reasons because you would see people coming in and out of the doors. The lady just asked what evidence we had, I had about 15 pictures, she didn't even look through them. I gave her copies of our credit cards since I added her as an authorized user and our disneyland annual pass card on 1 sheet of paper. I gave her a joint savings account statement. Those were the only evidence we had since we don't have a mortgage or lease agreement. She asked my wife basic questions that were on the aos application, name, birth, and a few questions on the application to make sure it matches. She then asked me how we met. That was all. She approved us on the spot. Overall she was very friendly and easy.

    Congrats!

  16. I just got my Artistic O1 Visa application online status verification saying "PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED" The USPS reported that your new card was delivered on May 10, 2012, directly to the address we had on file. Can you please help me understand this? Am I actually approved for a permanent residency or what kind of new card was mailed to me?

Your 10 year green card was approved and has been delivered to your mailing address on may 10, 2012.
