Wow I can’t even imagine being apart for that long… In my situation, I managed to stay with my partner in Japan for 9 months of this process. Once I left Japan we took turns visiting each other. Next thing you know, her visa interview arrived! Just remember to stay strong! Double check and triple check all your documents! Everything will be fine!

My fiancée took her interview on June 25th. The entire process took roughly 30 minutes from start to finish! Very basic questions were asked. 1. How did you both meet? 2. What does your fiance do for work? 3. Wedding plans 4. Where will you both live They collected the police certificate, my tax transcript, bank deposit form, DS-160 confirmation page, and the financial support documents. We were approved on spot and her visa should arrive within a week! If you have an interview soon, don’t stress! If your documents are solid, you have nothing to worry about.

I sent a public inquiry and got our case number last Friday. We scheduled the medical exam and finished the DS-120 but have not submitted since we can’t just yet. Our case status is “AT NVC”. Im assuming we will get the K1-FTP letter as the next step which should show our case as “In Transit”. We aren’t sure if we should open a public inquiry if 1-2 weeks go by without receiving the K1-FTP letter. We aren’t sure the timeline here. Has anyone else reached this stage and how long should we expect to wait? Lastly, I heard we cannot submit the DS-120 until our case is at the “Ready” stage. Can anyone help?

Congrats! I would send them a public inquiry in 2 weeks to get your case number. This will allow you to log into CEAC. You can also schedule your medical checkup with your number. Your case will then be forwarded to the consulate. The NVC will send you an email once that happens. You can also check the status one you gain access to CEAC website.

We also waited 6-7 weeks before our case was finally transferred to the NVC. Once the case is sent to the NVC you’ll need to wait another 2 weeks to receive your case number. After the second week you can send them a public inquiry to speed up the process a bit. Once you get the case number you’ll need to wait another 2 weeks for your case to be “in transit” to the embassy. The final step is scheduling the interview which can be 4-5 weeks. So all in you’re likely looking at another 2.5 months before the process is complete. Good luck!

That’s right! We heard wait times were getting longer. So I’m sure this is just the new normal. -
Wait for NVC letter

We have been waiting 6 weeks now with no response -
My fiancée and I filled on July 10th.. At the tail end of the skipped range.. Make sure to send in an inquiry once you’ve gone past your average wait time! It probably won’t do anything but it’s something. I heard next step is contacting a level 2 officer or emailing your local senator office. At this point, we should all spam them with requests to get their attention! Stay positive fam! We will all get through this together.

Hey guys! Is anyone part of the 1600 skipped applicants from June - July? So from my research, it’s not the first time USCIS has skipped cases. I’ve heard that it was a “technical” issue this time around. So given the fact the that they haven’t worked on this case range. It would mean the time to hear back is probably 3-6 months.. The California processing center has an average 8.5 wait time. So once that time passes make sure to send the USCIS an inquiry. It probably won’t do much but it’s something.. Here are additional steps you can take once you’ve sent in an inquiry: Additional Steps: 1. Contact USCIS Call 1-800-375-5283, and request a Tier 2 officer. Submit an Outside Normal Processing Time Inquiry if your case is delayed. 2. Expedite Your Case (If Eligible) USCIS allows expedite requests for: - Severe financial loss - Humanitarian reasons - USCIS errors -Call USCIS or use Ask Emma to submit an inquiry request. 3. Request Congressional Help Your Congressional Representative can escalate delayed cases. Find yours: House | Senate 4. File a DHS Ombudsman ComplaintIf USCIS remains unresponsive, submit a Case Assistance Request (response within ~45 days). 6. Consult an Immigration Attorney If all else fails, a lawyer can file a Mandamus lawsuit to force action. If we all come together as a community and send inquiries and escalate. Hopefully we can push them to take action! Let’s do this! Stay strong!
