  1. Thanks you two-- I believe the confusion stemmed from the worded slip that came with p3 saying to 'send back enclosed forms only' (which was obviously only the checklist), and that they 'didn't want our personal documents yet'. I suppose by that they mean the I-134 and any supporting evidence is what they don't want now.

    I hadn't really researched as much as possible on what he should be doing on his side of the pond, was too focused on the I-134 stuff myself to even start thinking for him too :P And I'm guessing that bolded line above slipped my sight because it's under the packet 4 stuff, so I thought that was something later or something. :wacko:

    He's not sent any of it in yet but was about to send in the checklist tomorrow, so now we'll just delay it by a day and send it all together it sounds like, because he's had those forms filled out, just thought he took them to his interview with him. Glad we found this out now though, I'd be kicking myself for waiting so long for P4 only to find out it was our fault it was so delayed!

  2. I love my Creative Zen Touch and have had it for years

    Same here. With all the horror stories I've heard with people's iPods screwing up in various ways, yet all the success I've had with Creative products (have owned two of their mp3 players among lots of other tech goodies-- the first one was only replaced because I needed more storage space!), I doubt I will ever lean the way of the apple products.

  3. I realize this isn't about the I-134 which is what you asked about, but I figure it's worth mentioning in case you've missed it elsewhere (like I had).

    Go ahead and order up your UK police report if you haven't already-- or at least do it around when your NOA2 comes. It takes 40 days to arrive-- it is currently what is delaying us- we waited until around the time we were out of NVC and it's delaying us sending back packet 3 by a few weeks.

    I wish I could help with the other stuff but I'm not familiar with what military sponsors have to provide so hopefully someone else can help you there.

  4. Stuff with cats on (especially hello kitty), Taiko Drum Master memorabilia, Nintendo memorabilia, other assorted video game memorabilia, and my most important collection is my Feeder collection... my favorite band (and my fiance's). We've got thousands of dollars worth of rare demos and promos and vinyls and whatnot, from a vinyl that there are only 6 of in the world, to every single single they've ever released.

  5. Been cheated on by an ex who I was in a long distance relationship with (lived about 2 hours apart), the first guy I was intimate with. He cheated on me with 'His first love/First girl he ever slept with'. I, being young and naive and needy as hell, decided to give him another chance, and it wasn't apparently enough of a cluestick to the head when he brought the girl he cheated on me with to a concert he and I were supposed to go to, that it wasn't over. Funnily enough, she was supposedly a lesbian. Guess she wasn't completely gay enough to stop sleeping with my boyfriend.

    He continued to cheat on me until eventually he dumped me (which I was fine with by that point as I was starting to get interested in another guy.). I swore off long distance relationships forever (until I met my now fiance, haha).

    This guy was a real winner after the relationship ended, as well. Not only did he refuse to give me things he had borrowed (clothes, cds, etc), claiming he 'sold' some of them to pay his rent, he gave me the worlds largest guilt trip for moving on, calling me a slutty ###### among other choice names because I told him I didn't have time to call him at that time because I was talking to my 'new' boyfriend at the time, and telling me to stay out of his life because I was all these horrible things, being completely jealous that I was in a new relationship. Apparently he expected me to mope around heartbroken begging him to come back after he gave me an STD scare (After all, he had cheated on me), cheated on me god knows how many times, and stole my stuff? He also put the girl he cheated on me with up to emailing me very nasty letters threatening me and making me feel like this was all my fault.

    Looking back on the relationship, I can't believe I let him get away with half the things he did and sometimes wish I could bump into him sometime now that I have the backbone to tell him what a complete douchebag he was. God must've particularly hated me then as well because out of some disgusting bad luck, he and the girl he cheated on me with somehow managed to get concert tickets to a show my NEW boyfriend and I were going to... and the seats were located one row behind us in the same seat numbers. He was all attempting to be buddy buddy-- my new boyfriend I had to keep holding back from punching his lights out.

    The new boyfriend also got very close to cheating on me down the line, about 2 years later. He and I had been together for 2 years and I was starting to get unhappy in the relationship but hadn't said anything about it. He started working long hours and I was never seeing him, but he asked me while I was home to please check his email for him and clean out any junk mail (this was back before the more advanced email filters were available so he'd get so much spam he'd run out of room in 2 days). I did that for a while until one day I came across an email from a dating service. I thought it was spam from the title but somehow ended up clicking on it to verify... and to my horror, it was not a random spam mail, but an online dating service he signed up for. I didn't say anything until he started getting replies to his ad, and then his excuse was he was just 'looking for friends', and seeing if anyone still found him attractive or something. That was basically the final straw and the relationship ender on that one, I wasn't going to stick around long enough to see if he was actually going to act on the thoughts or not.

  6. *tosses in a few pictures of her kitties*

    post-4848-1166816647_thumb.jpg

    That's Spaz. He's a 20 lb monster. Ironically enough, he came from McDonalds. Mom was going through the drive thru, and this little kitten was going door to door, climbing on peoples cars, begging for food. Mom was worried he was going to get run over, and she picked him up, and he wrapped himself around her neck and purred like mad. There was no saying no then, we had a new cat. When he started to grow out of being a kitten, he went from being tiny and normal to huuuuuuuuuuuuge.

    He likes popsicles and falling asleep in peoples shoes.

    post-4848-1166816721_thumb.jpg That's Sebastian. He's my lil old man (nearly 19 years old or so) and my bestest friend. He follows me everywhere in the house meowing until I sit somewhere to snuggle him.

    post-4848-1166816631_thumb.jpgThat's Ducky. Rescued her from a bad neighborhood, some older woman and a bunch of kids were kicking it into the street trying to get it killed. She's a giant ball of fluff.

  7. After reading all the guides provided again there is only one price and that is the medical in London, which has already been provided by kind posters, what I would like to know is how much the WHOLE process is for CR1 for one person so that I can double that amount, can anyone see what I am getting at?? sorry to be a pain in the bum.

    Janice

    That's really impossible to answer because it depends on what you count as being part of the whole process. Are you talking about just the paperwork and appointments? Are you counting travel costs? If so, that'll vary on when and where you travel, for example. Are you counting in any possible phone calls you may have to make? Are you counting food you'll pay for while in London? Hotel? Do you need any vaccinations at the medical?

    These kinds of 'how much will it cost' questions are always hard to answer because it really depends on your exact situation and what you count as 'part of the process' compared to normal everyday costs.

  8. However, their are some people who used an attorney without checking their background and have had trouble with them, so they will write derogatory things about their experience with an attorney.

    There are also people who did their research and found attorneys that had a spotless record, but the attorneys gave them completely awful advice about how to do things in a less than legal way. The attorney I checked out was is in good standing with the Bar and AILA, and is also an honorary consul of her home country. She advised me to tell my fiance to plan a trip here, tell the immigration agents that he was 'just visiting' when he really had full intent on staying anyway, and other outright lies. I paid $50 for that misinformation from a so called immigration specialist, and thank my stars that I had VJ to bring me back down to earth, because I could've made one costly mistake with that woman. The only good advice she DID give me was that our case was very uncomplicated and we probably didn't need her help the whole way. As of yet, we've never needed it, and I certainly wouldn't go back to her after some of the other advice she gave.

    While there are plenty of good ones out there, I'm sure, and I'm sure there's a few users out there who didn't bother checking their attorneys standings, it's also not fair to jump to saying that people just 'didn't check their background'. Sometimes there's no way of telling whether a attorney is any good until you're having a face to face with them and seeing exactly what they do know.

  9. The topic of this thread specifically refers to the I-134, not other requirements that the particular consulate may or may not have on thier particular instrucion page.

    I would imagine, however, that they're considering that they've seen lots of other people use pay stubs in combination WITH the I-134. As I quoted from London's page, those documents are for the I-134. "the sponsor should attached two or more of the following items to the affidavit". That says to me that it is a requirement for at least London's I-134, so you can't make a blanket statement that no one wants pay stubs.

    I was merely giving an example of why some people may choose to use pay stubs, which you seemed to think was wrong or unnecessary-- It's actually correct with at least one major Embassy, probably more. I was not replying to the original post so much, but rather, to the question you asked.

    I dont even believe the UK requires an affidavit of support, thus, they have established thier own rules.

    Someone's visa in London was just temporarily denied pending an I-134, ergo, the I-134 is required at London. The person in question didn't have time to get one together and thought theycould get by without it. They didn't.

    Even the embassy site says "Persons in the U.S. who wish to furnish sponsorship of a fiancee or Kii visa applicant in the form of an affidavit of support should use form I-134 which is available from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services." They also mention an option for a sworn affidavit, but I've never seen anyone go that route and the information on that particular piece of info on their website could be out of date. So, yes, although they have their own rules (as it seems every consulate does), my point still stands-- There ARE places that say "other evidence adequate to establish financial ability" or similar wording, so its not like some people are just completely making up the need for pay stubs and other 'useless' evidence.

  10. Where does it say to submit "proof of current emloyment and earnings" ?

    London, for example, does ask for at least two of the following, to "substantiate the information regarding income and resources" (which sounds similar to what you asked, at least to me). It's important to remember that what is requested varies from embassy to embassy.

    * notarized copies of his or her latest federal income tax return;

    * a statement from his or her employer showing salary and the length and permanency of employment;

    * a statement from an officer of a bank regarding his or her account, the date the account was opened and the present balance;

    * any other evidence adequate to establish financial ability to carry out his or her undertaking toward the applicant for what might be an indefinite period of time.

    I'd say pay stubs fall into that last category, even if they aren't specifically asked for. Some embassies and consulates may not take even a glance at them, others may specifically request it, some may just take it into context with the employer letter-- I'm not sure if the OP's consulate's website may say that pay stubs are required or not.

    I'm personally going to cover all bases and send all of the above, because I feel my bank statement is weak (Thanks for nothing, National City), because the income has changed from last years taxes (about the same amount but part of the income we have is non taxable, and thats covering what we lost), and because the employment situation is a bit hard to understand without having at least 10 sheets of paper that document the exact situation. No guarantee they'll accept any of it or even ask for any of it, but it's better to have it available on the chance they do ask.

    As for how many pay stubs I'm sending, technically, it's going to be around 12-15, but as mentioned, my case is a little more detailed than others, and all paychecks are bundled together in groups of 3 and 4 which correlates with the Workmans Comp paychecks that go alongside it.

  11. I honestly cannot pick which part of this thread is my favorite. From the quoting of tupac, to fax the police, to all of the insane, hypocritical Lohanesque babblings of cessna, to I AM A ROBOT, I just don't think I can ever choose which part is my favorite.

    I can however say that this is a very strong contender for my favorite VJ thread ever. :yes:

  12. Since you'll be going through London, I'll just reiterate the suggestion of going ahead and filing to get your police report-- it takes about 40 days like clockwork, and it's valid for a year. If you get approved any time soon and get through the NVC as fast as some of the recent filers did (to NVC and to the embassy within 2 weeks), you'll do well to already have the police certificate on the way so packet 3 will be nearly complete the minute it's sent to you.

    I forgot it took so long to get so it's going to cause us a slight delay (which sucks as we're shooting for a March marriage), so I figure this is one of the more important things to get on. Everything else we personally got done in a week or two.

  13. As mentioned in other threads, my mother is cosponsoring my fiance. Over 12 years ago, my mother married a man who was here on an overstayed work visa. They are now divorced, but he is a US citizen. I kind of doubt anyone will have a similar experience, but here's hoping.

    Now, my mother is getting up there in her age and she has a few memory problems, so she can't be sure what she filed that many years ago, what with form name changes and general forgetfulness. So we're assuming they did do some sort of visa petition and submitted an affidavit of support for him, but we're not 100% certain. As much of a packrat as she is, she has went through nearly every last shred of paperwork she still has trying to find out for certain and to get a date for 'date submitted', but so far we've found absolutely nothing that helps us here.

    Assuming the last few boxes we go through are just as unrewarding, any ideas as what to do? Is there a way to contact anyone, DOS, USCIS, whatever, to get copies of these ancient papers or find out when they were filed? If not, should we just guess on the date, leave the date blank, just put an approximate year (1993-1995 or so is our guess as they married in Nov 1994?)?

    Asking the ex husband is unlikely to be much help-- he is known for being awful at bookkeeping and we believe he may have either thrown out these papers upon getting his citizenship, thinking he didn't need them, or he may have brought them back to Algeria as he had planned on moving back for a long while, but eventually moved back here.

    So, any ideas? Thanks in advance as usual to those of you who've got a few nuggets of wisdom for us!

  14. I think side swept bangs would look so cute on your face! Also get the rest layered. Even if you put your hair up, the bangs will be there to add that cute touch.

    Agreed! I was thinking of a haircut that Kelly Clarkson had that was kind of chunky layers with the side swept bangs, and the OP kind of reminds me of having some of the facial features of her as well.

    I imagine there's some better pics of her hair than this pic but it's a start: http://do.cun.jp/archives/img/050412_1.gif

    It looks nice as is, but adding some layers and long, side swept bangs would give you a little more in terms of options but wouldn't be a drastic change so that if you hate it, you can always grow it out fairly quickly.

  15. In addition to everyone filling in your timelines, it'd be awesome if everyone can verify their dates once and awhile. In doing a few timeline searches to compare people to my case, it appears some people are living in the future. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showuser=25539, for example, seem to somehow know that their case will leave the NVC and arrive at the embassy on 2006-12-27.

    I'm not sure if theres some way to let people know they may have made a mistake when they put in that date, Ewok-- Maybe something that pops up saying 'Are you sure that's the right date? It's in the future.' or something, prompting them to correct it? I realize some people put in 'entry date' and 'wedding date' as future dates because theyve already booked flights, that I'm not so much worried about, its the dates that just can't be right. Unless I'm missing something.

    Also as another request, it'd be nice if there were a way to exclude certain users that show up in the advanced timelines, like a little (x) beside their name (kind of similar to the top option of 'hide'), so that you can filter out people you know don't belong there or who you know have incorrect dates.
