  1. If she is likely to be detained at port of entry. I will rather have her not board a flight and just remain there for her sanity.
  2. Sorry for the confusion. I have never heard of SB1 visa before until you mentioned it and I had to google it. All i was aware of about GC is that you can renew them as long as you want. I never knew holders can apply for any other type of visa. I'm learning from this thread.
  3. I don't know the type of appointment she went for. I wasn't aware of her plans to go to the embassy, but she went and was denied. When I spoke to her few days ago, I asked her how she was able to be seen cos I didn't know GC holders can apply for visas when they are already resident. She mentioned "immigrant visa" was what they applied for her. Who are the "they", I don't know. If you go through my posts again. I had mentioned that she appeared and was denied.
  4. She already pursued it last month. Can it be pursued multiple times? Best bet, if she flies in and no major issues at port of entry and recommended to appear before a judge. We can work that out together by being her interpreter and representative.
  5. Yes, she said her appointment was in Lagos and was surprised how fast she was able to secure a date. I bet @ being the worst consulate in the world. She mentioned that there weren't a lot of applicants like back in the days. I told her probably cos student visas aren't being issued at this time. Well@ what she is going to do. She doesn't know much about immigration and kind of giving up. Except I do something like you had mentioned "hop on a plane" but it's summertime and tickets aren't cheap.
  6. She just appeared without taking her mother's death certificate or her own personal medical record of being sick in Nigeria. She has been having leg problem for a while and she felt they could take care of it there cos its inexpensive. Yesterday, I told her that USCIS/Embassies work with proof in some cases, hers is one of them. And taking those documents could have favored her. She speaks limited English but those documents might have put the consular in the right direction to tackle her case. But what can I do after the fact. I didn't hear about her plan to visit the embassy. I only heard that she wasn't given. Probably she wanted to pull a surprise to be here and call.
  7. I am grateful to God that He saved your life from misery, probably untimely death. This is the kind of man that would seize your passport, wouldn't allow you to have access to the mailbox or bother to follow up with your Immigration process by withholding USCIS correspondences. Four years wasted during the relationship is better than a decade in a marriage that is a definition of bondage. As others have said, cut your losses, take time to heal and dust yourself up. Because the whole narration of your relationship screams DOMESTIC VIOLENCE to me and wouldn't turn 360 degrees to become a loving one when you move in with him.
  8. She lived here but went to see her mom once a year while she was alive. She was the only child of her parents. So she felt obligated and that was what torn her between two worlds.
  9. She had spent more time here than Nigeria. I spoke to her today, she said she paid a fee to be seen at the embassy to renew her green card and was given appointment within 2 weeks. I wasn't aware and just heard the story of the embassy not renewing her green card. She said she paid for immigrant visa appointment.
  10. She wanted to but she didn't have a home to return to.
  11. I'm a bit confused. Isn't I-90 Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card? She is not replacing. It's expired. Please clarify. Yes, I don't mind her flying into Canada if she will be allowed entry into the US. I can drive 12 hours to pick her up.
  12. Yes without re-entry. Yes it expired in 2023.
  13. Sorry for the late response everyone. She just sent a copy of her GC to me. Her GC expired May 2023
  14. I have checked the SB1. With the current immigration climate, that would take years before they attend to her case. If i'm not mistaken.
  15. It's okay. After the passing of my grandmother (my mom's mother). My grandmother passed away in September 2023. She was buried January 2024. She couldn't leave in 2023 cos of the burial rites. And when all was said and done. I wasn't able to have her return to my home. But I am now in a better space to receive her.
  16. Thanks. I will have to google that. I don't know what SB1 is.
  17. If she will be allowed to enter and then face an immigration judge. That will be much better than being sent back from port of entry. I just want to be sure of the choice(s) to make.
  18. Her GC is expired. She used to live here and spent majority of her time here. She is the only child of her parents, so she had to be flying to visit her once a year until her mom became so ill and needed care. We all agreed for her to go stay with her mom for her last months/days. No one knows when death finally comes. She was happy she was there when her mom passed and not here receiving the news. She applied for citizenship, but she didn't pass the exam before she left for Nigeria. Though English is Nigeria first language. She isn't conversant in the language but her native language of Yoruba. I am afraid of immigration refusing her entry after paying thousands for her flight. That's why I came on here to seek knowledge. Thank you.
  19. My mom had a 10 years green card and during those years, she shuttled within the US and birth country because of her mom. Almost two years ago, we lost her mom after years of illness. She returned to take care of her mom which made her stay beyond the GC rule of been outside the US. She said she went to the US embassy but was turned away saying she can't return here because she didn't return on time. What can be done at this point? She has been out of the US since 2023. Thank you.
  20. Thank you very much. I can head to bed now
  21. I am confused about the 1-751. Please who is the petitioner? Myself who began the K1 visa or my spouse(beneficiary) is having himself as the petitioner for the removal? I mean page 6 on the form where it request for the Petitioner phone number and email. Thank you so much.
