I'm glad you posted this I've been thinking I would have to go all the way to Memphis again for this stuff. I'm happy if we can do it here I get to start in Oct so plenty of feedback would be nice.

I was under the impression that Fort Smith was not for the entire state; i.e, if you live in western part of state, your local office would be Fort Smith but if living in Little Rock area it would be Memphis. Pay close attention on the paper work they send you as to where you are expected to show up.

P.S.: wow, definitely time to update my status... oopsie

I was told that fedex could not overnight to a PO Box and the vermont service center address has a PO Box. I had to use USPS priority mail and it took 3/4 days. Is there a quicker way? I have to resend my application on Monday ( got sent back the first time ).

Check the addresses for field offices. They have both regular USPS (mail) addresses as well as addresses used for Couriers (Fedex etc.)

I've always used couriers because #1: Fast, overnight, #2 ability to track online.

Probably cost around $10.00-15.00 depending on weight of the package, but gives peace of mind.

Hi Meblue,
You can move as many times as you want, as there is no US law against that. However, yes, it is more of a difficult dilemma when you have to deal with the USCIS as a permanent resident and have to report such changes to them when doing such and having to worry about your case because of it.

And yes, if/when you decide do move, you have to report it to the USCIS again (with the AR11 form), and hope that they would not lose your case while it is pending. If in doubt, do contact the USCIS and make an infopass appointment, just in case you don't hear anything back from them for awhile...

Hi everyone,
I moved in the other states because I found a job here, but I don't like my new job and I wanted to go back to my old job. When I moved here I changed my address in my I-1751 removing of condition petition. I want to go back to my house which is my previous address in my petition. Is it allowed to change address twice? I need help pls.

I don't want that my green card will be lost or sent to this address that I'm staying right now. Thanks.

As long as you file AR-11, the sponsor files something (don't remember the form) *AND* you call USCIS directly to update the current application.

Filing just AR-11 does not update the address on any filed applications currently waiting for adjudication.

You have a child together? That's extremely good evidence. Be sure to include a copy of the child's birth certificate. We also included our child's US Passport ID page.
I already had the house for 10 years before my wife came to this country. I hate extra taxes and fees, which is what you will pay plenty of if you try to rework the deed and mortgage to joint ownership.

We had plenty of other evidence, as you do also, so I just put a statement on the cover letter that we do not have a joint mortgage or house deed due to the above circumstances. (I didn't mention the part about not liking taxes. )

Having the child together, filing joint taxes, having a life insurance beneficiary form, etc. was sufficient.

We didn't submit any photos, or cover letter or anything. Plenty of bank statement info, medical insurance, vet info all with the same address. Some had just my name, some just her name and some with both names at the same address.

Sometimes I think the country of origin of the applicant makes a difference other than the randomly picked apps for interview.

Hi,
We are getting ready to mail our I-751 to CSC in a couple of weeks. I have mentioned in my previous posts that we don't have a lease agreement. We haven't had lease since 2003.My question is, has any of you been approved without submitting lease evidence and without RFE/Interview? We have most of the other evidence since 2005.

We didn't submit any lease information for the removal of conditions. My wife owned the home before we married, although bank accounts are in both names, some utilities are in her name, some in my name.

We showed evidence of only our names at the same address and both names at the same address.

Hi again everyone. I hope you all had an excellent New Year!
I know that we still have some time before we need to officially worry about removing our conditions, but i'm beginning to just get everything basically together into one pile so I don't lose important pieces of evidence. In doing so, I had two questions:

First, we're considering submitting a copy of our marriage license from my wife's country to show that we registered our marriage there as well. Any thoughts on this? Good idea?

Second, for all documents that are in a language other than English (i.e. item mentioned in question one), how does the translation work again? I remembered reading that translations are not required to be done by a translation service, but could be done by someone other than those filing. Is this accurate? And if so, does anyone have a link where I can find additional information on the statement that the translator is required to add to the translation ("I certify that I translated this and its accurate" etc etc etc).

As always, my most sincere thanks for advice.

Here is the paragraph directly from the I-751 instructions regarding translations (everything must be translated)

Translations. Any document containing a foreign language submitted to the Service shall be accompanied by a full English language translation which the translator has certified as complete and accurate, and by the translator's certification that he or she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English.

I always send my applications by courier (ie, Fed-Ex). Gives great tracking which is lacking for the post office and well worth the $10-$15 to send.

So yeah,
I log in today and find out that my case has been touched. Instead of the normal it has been transfered ot vermont service center, i got the following message :

Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred.

Hmmm... yeah, ditto on the touch here too.

On Dec. 25 no less...

Hello,
I am in the process of removing the conditional green card, already sent the application, and i believe everything will be smooth.

My employer just laid me off, and i am eligible for unemployment. My questions are:

1- Will that affect my sponsor, since he signed the affidavit guaranteeing that he will pay for any charges i make to the government? Is unemployment insurance same as food stamps and well fare?

2- Will that affect me in the future when i apply for citizenship?

Hello, I am sorry for your status, unemployment is a tough thing o get through specially if you an immigrant. You are not eligible for any food stamps or unemployment benefits since you are still a conditional resident, your sponsor signed that letter and he is responsible for you for the next 10 years or until you have accummulated 40 weeks of employment. no greencard holder can get food stamps or unemployment benefits that easily, the laws recently changed about immigration and benefits. when / if you go for an interview , this unemployment will be a big issue for you, as the uscis does not want immigrants to be a huge burden on them, try and get a job as soon as you can, cause this will come up in your interview. are you lifting conditions alone or with your significant other?? does your patner have a job?/ there are alot of questions here ,as i do not know what your story is all abou, maybe you can elaborate

As for foodstamps and welfare payments, yes, they are not available to immigrants.

However, the unemployment insurance is a benefit paid by the worker (and employer) and available to immigrants who are willing & able to work immediately -- normally not available to TNs, H1Bs etc. but green card holders (conditional or not) have this benefit available.

... said they would be mailing me a copy of the receipt within 30 days, and gave me a confirmation number. Interestingly, the confirmation number starts with ETC and ends with TSC so I wonder if that relates to how they are connecting the two service centers after the transfers.

Did you ever get that copy of the receipt notice ?

I did a service request today and the confirmation number ended with CSC. So I wonder if that's more to do with where the call was answered as apposed to being related to the application itself -- I was transferred to Vermont like everyone else.

If the person being sponsored can be credited with 40 quarters of work, does it still become necessary for I-865 to be submitted by the sponsor ?

I was just a couple years shy of having the 40 quarters (10 yrs)...

Are There Exceptions toWho Needs This Form?

The following types of intending immigrants do not need tofile this form:

Any intending immigrant who has earned or can be credited with 40 qualifying quarters (credits) of work in the United States.

We're moving this weekend and we know we have to change our address with the USCIS. The question is that we don't know where our GC is in the process. If it goes out to the old address will it be forwarded like regular mail? Some mail is stamped "Do Not Forward" and I don't know if that's the way a GC is.

NO!!! Make sure you fill out the change of address form or call them to change your address.. As far as I now the letter will NOT be forward to your new address....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The form is AR-11.

Make sure you call them to change your address on the pending applications. Form AR-11 does not change the address on applications already submitted and no, it will not be forwarded by usps.

Ours says the same thing as Shari's.
No idea where it was transferred to, we never saw anything that said we were headed for Vermont, but hey, I'll take it.

Also, we got DH's renewed UK passport today. Took exactly 14 days for us to receive it from the date they received the paperwork.

It would be transferred to Vermont, as under the new filing instructions, Texas applicants would sent it to VSC.

Send it now. When you do move, make sure and do the AR11 for your change of address (and the one for the sponsor also - its a different form number). Good Luck

If you do send it now, yes, submit the AR-11 BUT you must also call to have the address on the application changed as well. The AR-11 does not change addresses on pending applications.

As some of us were stuck in limbo, I have caled USCIS and made a request a while back. Today, I have received a "photocopy" of my Extension letter, and lo and behold, another letter from uscis!! its my biometrics!!!

So I go up at the end of the month!!

No that IS good news. Sounds like those of us that got stuck on the treadmill have been transferred to VSC and they're getting the BIOs done.

Hello my fellow transplants,
I'm new to this forum so forgive me if I am not following protocol. There are so many incredible tips on this website to sort through, wow.

I live in North Carolina with my husband on a CR1 visa (conditional permanent resident). Next month is the soonest we can submit our petition to remove the conditions of my residency. I saw the recent notice of the transfer of cases from the Texas office to Vermont. I just checked on the uscis.gov website and they have not changed any mailing instructions. Assuming they do not change the instructions, would it be advisable to send my application to Texas and have them forward it to the appropriate office? It just seems like the long way around the barn if you know what I mean!

They haven't changed the instructions on the form yet, but the new procedure is effective now. You should sent it to Vermont directly instead of Texas.

However, there could be a slight delay in the adjudication of the petition as a result of the transfer; so, petitioners are encouraged to file directly with the appropriate service center as outlined above.

This is clarification of what that notice was really trying to say :

The current transfer notice currently contains the following phrase: "CRI89 approved removal of

conditions (I89)." That statement means that the biometric portion of the case has been successfully

transferred; it does not, however, mean that the petition itself was approved.

Peter, Cookie, Lau, Kalydon, Dan&Mitzi, and Jethro as I promised I would update you once I got some information for us. I contacted two congressman and my senator and two of the offices just said that we were in the processing time. The senator is actively trying to find out why are cases are in some type of limbo compared to the others that filed. I also contacted the Department of Homeland Security/Ombudsman office and here is a copy of the letter I received today. I told them I have not heard back from my service requests and that several of us were in the same boat. Here is hoping that all my footwork is getting us some attention.

Thanks for the update. It seems strange that some have just been sitting without being transferred. I presume everyone had an interview for the 2yr GC at their local office.

But there was reason why I wanted to contact with someone from USCIS. There is my apt# is missing. Luckly I was able to receive it because the postman knew my name. However, I'm worried that I wouldn't get the BOI letter because of missing apt# if the postman is different person or new to our building.

What do you guy think? Should I so change of address?? Or I should wait till hopely get my BIO letter? I don't want to miss the BIO appointment because they would deny my case, right?

Contact USCIS to verify the address they have on file for this case. It may have been missed when it got entered into the system. You can use the original receipt # from the NOA or just give them your A# and they can look up your case to verify the address. Don't wait to "see" as far as addresses go, be pro-active.

Hi, Everyone. I have received NOA letter from TSC with my apt# missing. Anyway, I wanted to talk to someone to find out what to do. So I called 1800 number with my case number. It said my case is not found. So I went on line to put my case number. Same thing happened.
What does this mean? Is it because I just got it yesterday and they haven't update my case in computer? or Is TSC still having problem?

The case gets converted to CRI89 and it generates (at least for TSC) another receipt # that is trackable online. This receipt # is the one that appears on the BIO appt. notice or you can call them to get it (if it's been generated yet).
