Congrats! My husband has his interview also in Philly next week. Could you let me know which documents you brought and what was reviewed? The invitation letter main page said to bring a copy of our marriage certificate and my birth certificate, but there was a second page that included additional ancillary documents that you "may" need. Curious to know what all you brought and they actually looked at.

  2. I am back after a few years and I appreciate VisaJourney and the community here.

I am glad that this time, the process for naturalization is much easier than the Green Card (Thanks VisaJourney) and the H1B (needed a lawyer to get it the second time around)

  6. I am also the USC female and I did change my name, but not for about 6 months after we got married. Also, my passport is still in my maiden name! I had renewed it about a year before we got married and was loathe to shell out $150 to renew it in my married name. I was a little worried about "red flags" with the ROC packet we just sent - oh, will they think it's funny I didn't change my name right away? Will they care that some of our evidence is in my married name and some in my maiden name? I don't have the answers yet since we just sent everything in but from my research most people say it won't matter so...fingers crossed! Just do what you want for you!

  7. Count me in!

I can file on 01/12/14 earliest, and I think we will send the package next week. I will add myself to the tracker then.

    A few questions:

    - you can't include a G-1145 e-notification form with the i-751 packet, right?

    - this is silly but where did you guys find a big enough envelope for your packet?

    - and how did you send it? USPS registered mail? Fedex/UPS? I'm not sure what to choose.

Amywrites: $590, you should download the instructions from uscis website.

    - Our ROC packet fit nicely into the USPS Priority Mail flat rate envelopes they have at the post office so I used that and sent it priority with delivery confirmation (no signature confirmation). Looks like it was received fine because VSC cashed my check today :)

  8. My husband and I married in October 2011. We are now filing ROC. While I have extensive evidence of our married life and financial comingling, most of the evidence doesn't begin until April or May of 2012. We do have an IRS transcript of our married filing jointly taxes from 2011. But, because my husband did not receive his Green Card and get a job until April of 2012, we waited until that point to open a bank account jointly, get a car and get joint car insurance, etc. He didn't really have much need to do so before since he didn't have a job. Do you think that will be an issue?

Also, I am the USC and I changed my name, but not right away after our wedding. So, some of our evidence (primarily, boarding passes since my passport is in my maiden name) is in my maiden name and some is in my married name. Since I am the USC, there is no place no note a maiden name on the 751 form (just for the LPR). So, how will they know I am the same person? Should I outline that in the cover letter? Will it be an issue I didn't change my name right away? I don't want any confusion.

  9. Hello all. I cannot believe it has been over two years since my wonderful husband moved to the U.S. and it is about time for us to start thinking about ROC, which we will file in January. Here is a list of evidence I plan to submit. Does this sound like enough?

    • IRS tax transcripts for 2011 and 2012 showing married filing jointly (I know we won't have 2013 yet since we will file the first week in January or so)
    • Quarterly copies of joint checking account statements (beginning roughly six months after we married through to present)
    • Quarterly copies of joint savings account statements (beginning roughly six months after we married through to present)
    • Copies of our drivers' licenses, showing the same address
    • Copies of our health insurance cards, showing we are on the same plan
    • Statements showing joint car insurance
    • Copies of boarding passes for approximately 4-6 trips taken together over a two year period since we got married
    • Copies of credit card in each one's name showing same account number
    • Copies showing we are each others' beneficiary on life insurance and retirement account plans
    • Copies of envelopes that have been addressed to us over the last two years

    A few questions/comments

    • Not much evidence of joint property. I bought the house before we were married and he is not on the deed because it would have been expensive and a hassle to add him. Is it ok not to have proof of joint mortgage/deed/lease? Same with the car - the title is in my name only (although we do have joint car insurance).
    • We do not have joint bills because all the bills are in my name - he obviously had no established credit score when he moved and so it was a huge hassle to transfer any of the bills to his name. Is this OK?
    • Would affidavits from friends very helpful? I can get some but I hate to ask people and go to the notary, etc., if the evidence noted above is sufficient.

One last question: I changed my name to his last name a few months after we got married, so some of the evidence is in my maiden name and some is in my married name. On the 751 form, I see that there is NO WHERE for the US-Citizen Spouse to list a maiden or alternative name. How should we handle, so there is no confusion?

    Thank you!

WHEW! I think we can finally relax for a couple years!

  11. To you and anyone reading this - please don't make yourself so sick as to be throwing up. This process is stressful, but everything will be fine. You have already been approved for a K-1 visa so the AOS is administrative. Even if it weren't, as long as you have a real relationship you will be approved. I don't know how strongly I can stress this - but both of you will be fine and there is no need to be working yourselves into a tizzy. Please find to find a healthy way to cope, because this process is not worth all that stress. It will be fine. You are together and newly married. What could be sweeter?

I appreciate the reality check. I just get so frustrated because our K-1 experience was so long and we had everything in order and strong proof of a very long and established relationship. I feel like the littlest things can disqualify you. I have read on here about being denied for one box not being checked right, and it scares me. I originally felt really confident since we applied in November and wasn't worried about everyting going through, but our RFE threw me off, especially because it was something beyond our control and the fear of it being done wrong again and not getting another chance for something that may be beyond our control scared me. I also got worried because after my husband worrying he wouldn't find a job, he has found a great job he loves and is perfect for him, and it would break my heart for him to have to give it up if some administrative problem comes up and we are denied and have to refile. And, we have a big expensive marriage celebration planned for both family and friends in Mexico in a few months and the thought of him not being able to leave the country and having to make everyone cancel their reservations and losing all those deposits just makes me hyperventilate. Again, I am a pessimist and tend to catastrophize. Thanks for your posts that make me come back down to earth and think everything will be fine! :)

  12. You're RFE sounds a little bit similar to ours. Our vaccines were ok, but the CS didn't have my husband sign in front of him like he was supposed to, so we had to go back.

Does your RFE say something like "Submit page 1 and 5 of form 693?" If so, you just have to go to the Civil Surgeon and have your husband fill out the top part of page 1 with his biographical information and the CS sign and put his information in the bottom part, and both need to sign. I am not sure if part two needs to be filled out if they don't do a medical exam, stating no class A or B conditions (our CS did not fill this out...) and then the CS will just transcribe about the VH on page 5. For the transcription, if he doesn't need any shots, it should be cheap. Our CS charged around $35 I think.

  13. We FINALLY got the RFE paperwork. They sent it to our old address even though we changed it on the phone and by mail in January. Oh well... at least it arrived.

And it's for the medical. Apparently he needs more shots. I feel like I've got to take a new puppy for his shots. I'm thankful it's not for my income or needing a co-sponsor. BUT... there is always a chance that they send another RFE for that so I'm not counting my chickens until they hatch a green card.

That isn't bad. He will get the shots and be all set! :)

  14. We sent the form back, signed, and the new version but I am freaking out again because my husband was never given a flu shot. They just gave him MMR, TD, and showed he has VH history. The RFE we got did not mention anything about the vaccines not being correct - just the signature. But now my poor brain is working overtime in paranoid mode, scared we will get denied because of lack of the flu shot?!?! :(
