Yeah I was in the same boat. I had seperated, but never bothered with the divorce. So technically when I asked my lady to marry me, I was still married. Got the divorce and all that sorted be before I-129 So all good

Have you heard first-hand from people on vj (or elsewhere) who say they were denied entry at POE because they admitted to having a non-legal ceremony? The reason I'm asking is because my fiancee and I are planning on having a church ceremony in Japan before coming here (but after receiving the K-1). I've checked, and religious ceremonies are definitely not recognized by the Japanese government. Papers must be signed.
There was a thread only a few days ago here. A couple had a non binding Hindu ceremony before applying for the K1 - they were rejected and told to apply for a K3

Aww ya a bonza chick, by crickey

We asked our attorny the question about visits while on a K1 - she was pretty firm I would get turned back at the POE - so we decided to save the money for when I am approved, and just tough it out

I'm convinced that we'll see a lot more December approvals for CSC before the end of this month (yes, I'm an optimist ) so try to keep your spirits up!
I agree with you actually - The last week of April and then May should see major action for the December folk

This might be a silly question. But once I am approved to enter the US. I travel on an Australian Passport with US immigration papers...yes? I have had people tell me I will be issued with a US passport, but I cant see how if I am not taking out US citizenship.
So have I got this wrong, or is someone trying to offer poor advice?

We are Dec 5th and waiting - Wont be long now

This should help
http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/without/....html#countries
Check with your relatives if they have machine readable passports - You can tell by a thick central carboard page that says dont bend. In Australia, all passports issued after mid 2006 are automatically made this way. So I am guessing Gemany have introduced them as well to be on the visa waiver program.
I traveled to the US on such a system, and was no problem at all - I found the customers officers to be extremely helpful with issues that came up, and having a return ticket and departure date should seal the deal.
Maybe as an absolutely worst case senario, take the phone number of the nearest Geman consulate to your POE so they can help clear any silly miss understandings that occur. But as someone said, the customs guys are used to communication issues - so lots of pointing and smiles will get you a long way.
Finally - stress to your people not to get agitated or frustrated over the process, you will find the customs guys will respond to a good natured approach

My sponsor was $500.00 under the poverty line. Our legal person gave us some forms to get a co-sponsor, the way she explained it, it was no big deal. However in the mean time, she grabbed a very nice promtoion at work that put her well over the limit. One suggestion though, if you can do it, use someone who isn't living in the house. According to the forms, they have to stay their for something like five years after the petition
The only requirement for a cosponsor is that they are a USC or LPR. They don't even have to be related. Where they live is of no consequence either.
I'll have to get a copy of the advice we got. Intially Teresa was going get her son, now working, but after reading the requirement, she went with some friends that live in the same town. As it is turning out, wont matter

We are early Dec filers - I can tell you the excitement level went at the start of April - before that, any real news was wishfull thinking, but us December folk are up to bat
Hold onto your hats folks

Well the serivce I have found has a three hour change over at Hawaii - I am guessing Hawaiian Customs would be a little less busy than LA - And If I let them know my time line for cleareance they might be a little more accomodating
By all means take the flight that gives you the most time. It is better safe than sorry.
It does have another advantage, means as soon as the plane lands on the mainland, I wont be held up leaving the flight - and can pounce on my lovely lady in double quick time

Thanks for that - my heart says we will get the approval tomorrow, my head says late this month early next lol. Its funny the dead calm that decends after filing. We have the wedding organised - open date of course. Honeymoon, employment etc etc, and then...................................... lol
-
Just curious - We filed on Dec 5th and as far as I can tell, our application has not been touched. Is that unusual?

Hi guys, I was here before, but my puter blew up and took my account with me. We are December filers, so you can imagine we are getting a touch excited.
Anyway I am interested if there is anyway to find out if Hawaii is okay as a POE. The reason for asking is I am getting married in San Diego. Now the normal way to do this direct Sydney to LA - but there is only a 45 minute gap to the connecting flight, and I am of the impression I could be potentially in customs for a couple of hours.
So does anyone know how I can confirm my theory?

Yeah it is very tough, but what you have is each other - hang on to that and it will be all good. Not trying to get into comparisons, but the last time I saw my lady was Nov 6th 2006 at 1.37pm (It was a Tuesday if anyone is interested)
If you dont have a webcam, get one. To see your future partners eyes light up when you tell em you love them, will work wonders in getting you through this sucky time
