  1. Yeah I looked around on Reddit for civil surgeon recommendations around Chicago and one of them was near us so we picked it, def a reasonable price considering they don't accept insurance. We didn't bother asking around for partial examinations cuz they probably all follow standard procedures and don't wanna mess around with not doing the full thing (even though they can) and probably just want the full fee lol.
  2. Did the medical today, not only did my wife not get the Polio vaccine at the overseas medical for the K1 like she was supposed to, she also didn't get the right tetanus shot there (needed t-d-p but only got t-d) SMH... Really dumb that this wasn't taken care of at the overseas but we didn't know at the time. But whatever, we're getting the sealed I-693 in a few days and now we won't have to worry about a medical RFE at the interview at least. Fee ended up being $270 plus vaccines (we did them at the exam) were $130 at the clinic we went to.
  3. Awesome! I think we got really lucky lol. Will we even get an EAD at this point? We concurrently filed the I-765 but idk if they'll bother doing the work auth with an interview pending...
  4. Ugh that's so lame. Is the partial I-693 enough or should we just do the full medical? Also once we do it should we upload it to the USCIS site as well as bring it to the interview?
  5. Wasn't expecting this so soon, we only got married like over a month ago so I won't have a huge amount of evidence. Also, I'm uncertain if we'll need to do a medical exam here, my wife did hers overseas before the embassy interview and has the completed vaccination sheet which we submitted with the I-485 but I know there's some weird thing with Polio which was marked "not age appropriate" on her vaccination sheet. So idk if we should schedule a medical appointment now or if we're good with just the vaccination record for the AOS interview
  6. Holy ####### I'm in disbelief, did biometrics yesterday and got an interview date today!! scheduled for July 1st. This is insane lol
  7. Awesome, you can actually check the date in your documents tab on the website since they upload mailed NOAs there as well.
  8. Yeah, you won't need your USCIS account anymore, only add cases in the immigrant's account. If you want to check the case status yourself, just use your spouse's login credentials (with spouse's permission of course :D)
  9. Whoa, we got biometrics scheduled for early June already, just got the update from USCIS today. Our PD is May 9th so an update in 1 week feels insanely quick!
  10. Ok cool. Also I was looking at the uploaded documents they have in the documents tab. I assume the I-485 and I-765 don't get uploaded here? I only see I-864 and supporting documents/evidence. Some of the evidence such as some pay stubs and some tax transcripts are missing... Did this happen for anyone else? Can I upload the missing ones as unsolicited evidence?
  11. We got the I-797C NOA in the mail today with the online access code to track the AOS/EAD cases Can only one USCIS account track them? My wife (the applicant) added it to her account but I wasn't able to add it as a case to mine (I was tracking the I-129F). Also, should my wife carry around the NOA document with her as proof of authorized stay or would having a picture of it suffice? Her K1 visa is still valid.
  12. Making this thread since I didn't see one for this month yet. Got the I-485 and I-765 receipt notices via SMS today, filed May 9th at Chicago office. Surprised I got the texts this quick, or at all lol.
  13. Add the scanned passport page(s) to a Word document (I used Google Docs) and add a description on the document that indicates or points out the relevant stamps.
  14. Hello, I received this letter from the NVC. I did send them an inquiry asking for the case number but they sent me the K1-FTP letter via email not long after so i imagined the inquiry got ignored. I just got this letter from the NVC though which I wasn't expecting, do I need to respond or do anything with this? My fiancee has her interview next week so I hope this doesn't delay anything. It seems like I can just ignore this letter but idk, has anyone else gotten this letter after sending the NVC an inquiry?
  15. You don't actually need the K1 welcome letter, it just states that they sent it to the embassy. The case number is what's important.
  16. My fiancée has her interview coming up. The instructions say to bring any previous or expired passports to the interview along with the current one. She's not sure if she has her old one(s), is this something they actually want to see? I think she has a student visa for Belgium on her previous one from like 2019 and she stayed there for less than 6 months. Not sure how relevant that would be. The DS-160 asked for any countries visited within the last 5 years and she has all those passport stamps on her current one. Would she be fine with just bringing only her current one?
  17. I used google docs and just inserted the digital images into the pages, typed a description/date on each page, saved as PDF and printed them out in color, works pretty well.
  18. US embassies and consulates are reducing staff too, hopefully the consular officers won't be in a bad mood. I do expect interviews to be more scrutinizing, so better bring high quality evidence!
  19. Thanks, I guess I'll make it a little vague in the statement then. Yeah, I'm hoping I'll have a job lined up once my fiancée is in the states, I'm currently staying abroad with her until she's ready to immigrate.
  20. My case was marked ready by the NVC and am preparing documents for the interview. I was laid off a few months ago, and even though i have years of stable and qualifying income and some assets, I don't want to risk it so I asked my USC friend to be a joint sponsor as his current income qualifies. He isn't part of my household and lives in a different state. I don't expect him to actually provide any financial aid, and he's aware of the legal obligations of being a financial sponsor and is preparing the evidence on his end. For this question in the form: In addition to providing financial support, I intend to make specific contributions to cover the beneficiary's basic living needs. (Yes/No) Is answering "Yes" here basically a requirement to be a financial sponsor? Also, for the part where it asks for a statement of specific contributions, what should he say? Here is my statement for example: I, <PETITIONER NAME>, THE PETITIONER, FULLY INTENT TO FINANCIALLY SUPPORT MY BENEFICIARY, <BENEFICIARY NAME> WITH ACCESS TO MY ASSETS, AND EARNINGS UPON MY FUTURE EMPLOYMENT. I INTEND TO PROVIDE HOUSING, FOOD & MONEY WITHIN MY RESIDENCY FOR HER, FIRST AS A FIANCE AND THEN AS MY SPOUSE AFTER HER ARRIVAL IN THE UNITED STATES. Thanks.
  21. USCIS sent my case to NVC on January 14th, and I got the NVC email and case number February 11th, and it was already in transit (arrived at embassy yesterday). Another user on here with a similar timeline as me also had the same time for NVC. So it seems it takes about a month for NVC to process the case once USCIS sends it.
  22. It lets me type name of employer when i check the "Employed" box. I use the Acrobat Reader software.
  23. Seems like they want more substantial evidence that you actually are engaged and have plans to marry. Here is some stuff I included in my petition of engagement substance: Pictures of my fiancée and I with each of our families (this one is very helpful in my opinion) A scan of my fiancée's engagement ring certification, as well as pictures of us two with the ring (not sure if a ring is really required, but I imagine it's pretty helpful) A visa support letter written by my fiancée's mother attesting to our relationship and our plans to marry, signed and dated by both me and fiancée's mother Screenshot of a Facebook post showing that we got engaged (probably not very helpful)
  24. Handwrite the name if it can fit. The form can have a mix of typed and handwritten inputs.
  25. I got a case update from USCIS yesterday that they sent the petition to the DoS, it was approved December 4th. How long should i expect to wait until NVC receives and processes it (meaning i get the case number)? Do i the petitioner get an email, or the beneficiary or both of us?
