  1. Happy days are here!!! To conclude this thread, I would to tell everyone that my wife's interview was successful at ISL, and she has been granted a visa. She got her medical done 5 days before the interview, and was given 5 immunization shots. She had a sore arm for a week after her medical. On the day of the interview, she had to leave to for ISL at 3am, since the interview was at 8am. She says there weren't that many green card applicants at the embassy, but there were many for K3 visa. Apparently, the interviewers were giving hard time to many applicants, especially those under K3. When she was called for the interview, a US female interviewer asked her who is sponsoring her, and then asked what her husband does in the US. Apparently the interviewer smiled and was impressed by the fact I was a PhD student in neuroscience . After that, they never gave her hard time, and just asked her when did we get married, and when did I visit her last time in Pak. They didnt even ask for wedding pics. AT the end, the interviewers congratulated her, and said to hand in her passport, which would be returned in 3 days.

As I write this, my wife is has boarded the plane, and will be here tomorrow. We are both ecstatic to say the least.

I hope no one has to go through such a painstaking procedure to rejoin with a spouse, but if any one every gets parted from their sweet heart, please post here and keep this thread alive. Once again, it took 2 years 5 months in order for me to rejoin with my wife in the USA.

  2. I have a good lawyer who has helped me through a tough journey. Not everyone is the same. May be VJ should have a forum section that is dedicated to writing reviews for lawyers in local regions. I would have been lost without his help. And yea, K3 isnt worth it. We got the K3 interview papers 4 months ago, but lawyer tolf me if I wanted to go K3, I dont have to pay AOS/IV bill, but it would cost me another $1500 to file for status adjustment. Hope stuff goes smooth for you. good luck!

  3. Hi guys...sorry to go off topic, but does anyone know if one passes the interview, does the US consulate at ISL keep the Pakistani passport, or do they give it back to the spouse in the evening of the day of interview? My wife has an interview on Nev 3rd, and she wants to confirm a ticket using her Pak passport, but we want to wait till after the interview. Thanks and prayers for all!

  4. Hi all...My wife and I have been waiting for interview for 2 years 7 months. She has the interview date for Nov 3rd. I was thrilled and almost fainted with joy. I feel so relieved right now, althought she still has to pass the interview and hopefully get a visa. I told her to take my photo album and engagement/wedding vdo in case they want a proof of our marriage. I also told my wife to show them our intimate pictures at interview  , but she seemed hesitant . Any who, I know there are alot of fellow pakistani bros and sis stuck with AP. I sympathize with them and offer them nothing but good luck.

My wife is going for medical tomorrow, and I will report on it once she has it done.

    Best wishes to all.

  5. So I called me lawyer. he said my wife will never get an interview letter. I should just fax or scan and email her the letter the I got. She can show it to the folks at the medical office and interview.

I feel so relieved right now. I am now just days away from seeing my wife, hoping all goes well at the interview. It seems once I got out of the shitty hell hole called the USCIS, everything went smooth. I would have gotten a date a month ahead had I not been busy with studies and work. I am happy I made this far, and it has been a tough two year seven month journey.

    Thanks again everyone. Best wishes.

  6. Hi all

I came back after a vacation, and found in my mailbox a letter from NVC (dated Oct 14) that says my wife will have an interviiew at ISL embassy on Nov 3rd. It doesnt have any instructions for medical. Doesnt this seem like a short notice? My wife in Pak still hasnt received a interview notice. I have been able to track DHL, and it seems NVC forwarded my case to ISL embassy on OCT 19. Its still on its way.

So, even though my wife doesnt have the interview call letter in hand, can she call to schedule a medical in ISlamabad? Also, if worse come to worst, she doesnt get the interview letter, can I just scan and email her the notice I received from NVC about her interview? Thanks and best wishes to all...

  7. Hope everyone is doing great, and the wait have been worthwhile and fruitful. kaus&Sanu, hope there has been progress in your case.

As for me, I received a notice today saying my wife has been assigned interview at ISL embassy on Nov 3, 2009. However, she hasn't yet received anything from NVC in the mail at Pakistan. Why did i get the notice first? Does the notice that she will get for interview the same exact as the one I received from NVC? Thanks all for their help.

    best wishes...

  8. NVC requires the originals when you send the DS-230 packet in once the IV bill has been accepted.

Some consulates flip interviews, some don't. Perhaps posting this question on the UK forum would be best since it's consulate specific

    Good luck.

you have to pick your poison and pursue one. K3 requires your spouse to bring in the originals at the interview. If K3 is what you want to do, then dont pay the fee for AOS (I-130). Its always good to pursue I-130 as you get the green card as soon as spouse comes to US. FOr I-129 (K3) you will have to file for adjustment of status upon spouse's arrival, which will cost about a grand. I would say send in the original required docs for I-130, that means you will have to give up on K3. You will get all originals back when your spouse goes to the interview.

  9. Hello Friends ,

First we send all documents to USCIS after they approve our petetion they send our case to NVC and then once again NVC request almost same documents so i wanted to know that Which set of documents that NVC does send to US EMBASSY ?

    Thank you !

I found NVC AOS documents were different than those required for USCIS. This is what I submitted for NVC:

-Original Urdu/Eng birth certificate of my wife

    -Original Urdu/English Niakama

    -2 passport copies of wife

-2 wife picture with white background

-My 2008 tax return and job letter

    -2 recent pay check

I got a case complete from NVC. For USCIS I remember submitting my citizenship certificate/US passport copies, and 2 pictures for myself and wife. When ur spouse goes for interview at the embassy, you get all the original docs back. Good luck!

  10. I am too... I just got frustrated when I started seeing all sorts of approvals for people (I'm happy for them) who have filed after me. I contacted USCIS to get a status of where the heck mine is and they kept stating some generic #######. So I got po'd and talked to my senator... I'm surprised that he inquired too...

All govt officials are waste. Dont waste the precious time like I did. I wish I had sued earlier. I was told the same as what you posted above, and the lawyer said the last resort is to sue. USCIS always hand picks few applicants that are lost in investigation limbo. What a sad story USCIS really is.... I hope it goes well. If you need a good lawyer in NY, please let me know. Best of luck!

As for me, my case is now complete at NVC.

  11. Thanks all for your support.

@waiting4approval: I chose to ditch 129, and I130 is going smooth. Thanks again for ur response.

@hasson: you need a good lawyer. US govt and bureau are incompetent.

@needgc: I dont check this forum alot so I am sorry about the long delay. I dont know whats the policy for this forum. I can post the lawyer info in this thread so people in desperate need can contact him to resolve their issue.

I sent my AOS documents. The lawyer said the backgound of wifey passport size pics has to be white (its was blue). I had to ask her to send pics again. It ended up adding a few weeks. Anyhu, the lawyer says I might get interview at the end of October. May be I can pick her up in Nov, close to my birthday...

Its a heartfelt grief to see so many people wait for their spouse for no apparent reason. We need major changes in immigration, however the government is diverting attention from all other issues ailing this country by focusing on healthcare for past 6 months. Its a shame that most common US citizen get bent all the time.

  12. O yeah....forgot to add...make sure the place where you are staying has backup power or electric generator, as there are blackout in every pak city half the day. Pak electric company cant keep up with public electric demand, so they turn off off country's power half the day....If you are lucky, may be you will have enough power to make a ceiling fan turn, if not AC. But hey....I am sure you will love candle light dinners

  13. Best thing to do is to wear local dress, and dont be too flashy with elegant dress or jewelry. Pakis usually figure out you dont belong in that land just by the way a person walks and talks...dont ask me how. I grew up there, but came to US when I was young. When I visited pak in winter, my wife wanted me to dress all nice going outside, but I always hesitated. Never show your self as a moving "target", especially if you are from US. I didnt even goto our mosque for praying as I was afraid of something happening there.

I am not being stereotypical, but I think and hope you will be less conspicuous in local paki dress than a person of Chinese ethnicity. O yea...Pakistani people like to stare at females alot, like they have never seen a female homosapien....I hate that the most, especially when I was in Pak and men staring at my girl. Any ways, good luck and safe trip.

O yeah you need AC in summer, or you will def die...happy trip :)

  14. Hi. my wife sent me orginal Police certificate which has to be sent to NVC for my I130. On the certificate, she listed the address where she started living after getting married to me (this is the same address NVC has on file). At another place in the police certificate, it says that she has lived at this address from birth untill now. However, she lived in another city from birth to marriage. Will this be considered a discrepency in the eyes of immigrant officials? Should I have her send a new certificate to me? SHould I have her change the phrase from living at present address "from birth to date" to "from marriage to date"? Thanks for the reply.

  15. Ok...so my lawyer got the Affidavit of Support documents and fee pertaining to I130. He asked me to give him support documents such as my Tax returns, original marriage certificate, original birth cert of my wife, her Polica Certificate, her 2 pics, and her passport copies. I have opted to go for I-130, as I will have less headache with it in the future. I heard that if I go with K3, she will have to come to USA and apply for adjustment, which is another $1500, plus lawyer fee.

My wife in Pak also received the K3 interview forms, but I told her to keep them aside, as we are going for I130 immigrant visa. In the K3 papers she received, it was required that she comes to interview with the same original documents that she would have to send me here to give to the lawyer. If I go ahead with I130, and hand over all the original documents to lawyer, do I shoot down any chance of pursuing K3 any further? I feel like going for I130 but am not sure. ANy help will be appreciated.

  16. After your medical examination, do you just get a sealed envelope to take to Embassy and not know the results? Or, if something is wrong, will the Doctor tell you and you have time to correct it (if possible)?

    I am confused about this!

where did you do this examination? in INDIA? if yes then i will say yes they do tell. because in my case i went to mumbai for my medical and they found something wrong (brest cancer) and then they didn't gave me package and told me to do all the test realated to brest cancer which i have to do. so i did and 3 rd day of medical examination they gave me package and still they never told me about result. but i was ok i got visa. and you know still i don't know i have soemthing like that or not. i mean to say cancer.

erm  i think you should get it checked out. It sounds serious; never ignore health maintenance.
