I guess i am a November AOS filer,NOA was sent on November 3rd, praying this will be quick

Went with fiancee to Social Security Office to get a number and was told we first need a work authoriation form to get SS card. I was told that we need to file an I-766 form or I-688 or we could get a Fed ID number at the IRS and then apply for SS card. VJ does not list an I-766 or I-688 what the...Has anyone else had this problem. It could delay bank account and drivers lic. waiting on the process time. If your fiancee came in on a K1 visa, she is already authorised to work so does not need EAD, read the VJ guides surrounding applying for SS number, there is a form to download to take with you that explains to the SS office that a K1 CAN have a SS number, i'd go back with all the documentation and try again, i had no problems getting a SS number when i entered the US.

Yes, it should be easy for a K-1 visa holder to get a SS card but thay are not authorized to work until they get an EAD. It even says on the SS card "Valid for work only with DHS authorization".

OK it's Wednesday... how did it go

My I129F was approved April 15. I received no NOA 2. Package and interview was sent to fiancee with interview time. It takes 18 days to process all background checks and they only cave us 20 days until interview. I was in Peru 2 weeks ago and thought the interview would be in July not May. Of course I will have to reschedule the interview for a later date. This was much faster than I was lead to believe for Peru.
