  1. Is social security counted? because that's 24k a year already which gets us really close. If so, what documents does USCIS require as proof because it's not fully counted on income tax forms since only half is taxable. because if we can utilize the full 24k from social security annually + 45k cash in the bank + 600k in house value free and clear, would that be enough?
  2. They are retired so they have no income. What would be the least amount of cash they would need to show that would not be problematic?
  3. Hello, I have a family member who is my joint sponsor and they don't feel comfortable showing their bank account but will show the value of their home. The question is what are the different way that are acceptable in showing the value of the home besides getting a costly new appraisal? Would a recent property tax bill from the city showing an old assessment amount of 600k on the bill be acceptable? Or would a recent 300k reverse mortgage offer from a company also be acceptable?
  4. no, we've been putting our packet together this week and will try to mail it tomorrow.
  5. My wife who entered on a K-1 months ago received an email recently from my local county health department saying they need to evaluate her for tuberculosis again even though she was tested overseas already and passed her tests. Overseas they did find scar tissue in her xray and made her take a sputum test and waited 3 months for culture test for the results which were clear. So now my county is asking her to go to a department of health clinic and be reevaluated again to see if she needs to take another sputum test again. They are painful, btw. Her overseas medical exam is valid for 1 year and it has not expired. Has this happened to others and is there a way to opt-out of it? My other worry is by the time she gets her AOS interview, her overseas exam may expire and they may make her have to take another medical test and could cause a 3rd sputum test so I'd really like to find a way to convince my county to accept the embassy results.
  6. Thank you so much for your reply. This is very helpful. My lawyer was saying we need to wait but people were posting on social media that you do not. In your experience, do you feel a lawyer is necessary for Adjustment of Status? Is it very complicated and are there any gotchas to be careful about? What are their primary concerns when reviewing an Adjustment of Status application? Thanks again
  7. Hello, I received the K-1 FTP letter and my status online shows "Case Ready". Do I still need to wait for the embassy invitation letter or can I book my interview appointment without it? And do I need to bring it to the Interview or is just the K-1 FTP letter enough? This is for the embassy in Manila, Philippines. Thanks
