  1. Hello,

My wife has an injury to her pointer finger and is worried that she can not pass her biometrics. Will this be a problem if all her other fingers and thumbs are okay? Does she need to make another appointment ? Since she does not know how long it will thake to heal? Or should she go ahead with the appointment she already has?

Thanks in advance. Give your opinions soon please sine her appointment is in 2 weeks.

  2. Were you not required to fill up a Report of Marriage form? She would not have been able to change her surname to her married name without the report of marriage (ROM). The ROM is the basis for the name change.

But since your wife did manage to change her surname, I guess someone at the embassy was sleeping on the job.

    Hello,

The paperwork that we have from here..her 2 year greencard and Social security card and also a NC ID all have her new married name on them. We just have not did the ROM form to send to Embassy yet and still have not had her passport renewed or admended with her new name yet..

    thanks,

    Walt

    Hi,

where did you go to get the renewal and name change on her passport? We love in NC. Are we required to go to the Philipine Embassy here in the States to do that? Isn't the report of marriage required by the Embassy for a record of our marriage in there?

    thanks,

  4. When my wife had her passport amended, it was also renewed. This was done approximately 4 months prior to its expiration.

    I hope that helps.

    Hello,

My wife and I have been married for almost 2 years now and she was waiting to get the admendment before her passport expired in Nov. of 2011. If we go ahead and do report of marriage now will her passport also be renewed or do we have to do that at a different time? Is there more than one fee to do that? the fee for admendment and also a different fee for renewal? Did your wife admend her passport through the mail or go to do it in person? Thanks for any advice. We love in NC.

  5. Sorry i did not specify this.

  6. Some questions here regarding bringing mom in the US, what are the possible questions that the consular officer will ask during her interview?

During her interview, does she has to bring anything?or a passport only?Just wanna know specific things about this matter. Thanks!

  7. Hello folks,

It's still 20 years later of planning to go back there in RP,but as a couple while having some plans and questions in our minds,we want some clarity or an advance ideas about some matter.

Yes,I guess I gonna ask some group of people whom the website I am subscribing are living there in RP;might give me more info about retiring in RP.

I read some of their shared experience there and some people just extend once every year of something like about their stay,I'm not sure if it's a visa because as far as I know there's no visa needed in RP,especially for those who are single men just having a leisure time and wanted to stay there. But maybe it's just the same thing if you're a married one, like me who really wanted to stay there later with my wife.

I know how hard it is in RP about jobs and financial, that is why I will be relying on my benefits both private and government pensions.I know no American there works, unless they have their own business. Will be keeping my citizenship as American.Even if I gonna change it,that is so time consuming, money and hassles.I'm just talking about my wife's status, whether she just want to have a green card or becoming a US Citizen.

Will try to figure out how will she can benefit my pension after me,as she is my dependent or beneficiary especially if we will move back there 20 years later...or less from now.

Well, everything is still subject to change and as long as we just abide through the accordance of the will of God.

"With all our sincerity,we would like to thank you folks for a very responsive thoughts and for sharing these things, your different ideas."This is a help for me and for others who may have similarity on this matter.

I'm glad I found this website.

  8. Hi,

You really have a good knowledge about this.

    The answer is very concise.

Thank you for the attention on this matter.

I'm so glad I found this site.

    Thanking,

    WaltnRafi

For SSA benefits the USC always maintains a US domicile.... You have your SSA benefits directly deposited in a US bank account and you withdraw your funds in the foreign country via ATM....

A USC can be gone for 1, 5, 10 or even 20 years and never lose there citizenship... There is no requirement for a USC to return to US soil to maintain citizenship. This is very different than what a greencard holder must do..

Dual citizenship is a common occurence and not a GRRRRRRRR.... If the child is born in the USA then you must determine how to claim PI citizenship, if the child is born in the PI, you simply report it to the consulate..... The child will be issued a US passport when adjudicated.

  9. Hi,

I guess you're right with your insights.SS and private pension plan might have different benefit level or different laws and regulation,we'll just see about it on what to do.

But I guess, whether the beneficiary is GC holder or already US citizen,as long as that person is your beneficiary, everything is fine with the dependents/benficiary,right?

So,my citizenship as long as I keep it,wherever I am,there's no problem about it,is that right? And would still be receiving my pension by that time.Since I also notice that there Americans living in the Philippines,I'm sure there's a way on how they do that since their wives are Filipina.Maybe I just need to find a solution because as far as I know, being a USC we should not leavet the US for more than a year,if I'm not wrong.

Seems like I also heard that a green card holder spouse that will be living outside the US will really lead into abandoning or rebuking the permanent residency in the the US,but as long as she will be happy where she choose to stay at on our retiring age,it doesn't matter I guess.

(Unless we just decide to keep on visiting the US once a year just have her GC active and then go back again...anyway,that's later plans only, but what do u think?)

Mostly also of the children that have different race of parents, does have dual citizenship,grrr...need to look up unto that also.I guess we only need 1 child, hehehe!

Thank you for your thoughts and ideas about this matter.

    I do really appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    WaltnRafi^v^

P.S.Anyone can share their thoughts, ideas or any facts or addition relating this topic.

    I will openly welcome it.

    Hello there,

I and my wife were just discussing things that we will be going through our lives.

We just want to know some idea/facts for clarity.

When I will retire,I will be having my pension from my Social Security and from my previous work at Hanes Brand which is Sara Lee before.((But that's far from now of my age to my retiring age, hehehe!)

    Anyway,my wife is my beneficiary.

Does she need to be a U.S. citizen just to claim the benefits from me?Or,it doesn't really matter?

Does being a green card holder is fine to entitle her to claim the benefits?can she still claim it whether she's in the US or in Philippines by that time?

Also, when I retire,we plan to go back to Philippines.

Can I still keep my citizenship here in the U.S.?

What is the best way so that I can retire there?

How about my wife?will it lead to rebuking her green card later as a permanent resident in U.S. if we'll moved back there later?

Or to avoid abandoning her green card while living in the Philippines, what is the way?

What will be the status of our future children?Dual citizen?just american citizen?or philippine citizen?

Just curious, just wanted to know earlier for future plans.

Thank you for reading my lots of questions letter.

Have a great day to all!

    Smiles,

    WaltnRafi^v^

    P.S.Anyone that will answer,please be specific.Thanks!

the requirements of a private pension plan and SS probably are different... As a USC, there is a different benefit level

Where you live and your citizenship have no relevance... unless you revoke your citizenship you will always be a USC

Permanently residing in another country for a GC holder creates problems in maintaining that status

children will depend on citizenship rules... most likely "dual" citizenship besed on parentage

moving to Effects of Major Family Changes on Immigration Benefits

  11. Hi,

    Just wanted to add something.

I guess it's not a problem of bringing some diet pills since it's just like a food supplement.

In my case,it's not a diet pill anyway.

When I came here in the States,I bring 6 packs of contraceptive pills enough for 6 months before having a doctor can check me up and prescribed a new contraceptive pill.(Now,I already have new ones.)

When I brought those,I placed them in my check-in baggage.I don't have a prescription with it because those are over the counter contraceptive pills.I also have some medicines for my allergy, but didn't intend to bring it,it just happen that few months ago before flying here I already have them in my handcarry bag, when I fly here, those medicines were inside my bag.I just notice it when I am settled already at home and clear some of my stuff.

Maybe the diet pills are fine.

May she can bring it without any problems.

Tell us how is her travel with the diet pills to give others/us ideas. Thanks!

    God bless her flight.

  12. According to the USCIS website these are the guidelines:

Medical exam before june 1, 2008 do not need take the new vaccination and the TB test.

Medical exams between june 1 - july 31, 2008need to take the TB test, but don't need to get the new vaccination.

Medical exams on or after august 1, 2008 need to take the TB test and new vaccination requirement if age appropriate.

You can enter "vaccinations june 1" in the Search feature above for more discussion on this matter. It has been extensively discussed on VJ.

    Hi,

Thank you so much for the clear and concise letter.

  13. hello,

My wife came on fiancee visa and had her medical exam in manila in may. Is she required to have the TST done before sending in the I-485 for AOS? The CS we used just transcriped her vacc. records and didn't say she need anything else? We have sealed and signed I_693 from CS in September and now we are worried that we will get RFE because of not doing TST test. Anyone out there with answer please. Other fliers who didn"t get TST test and still get their AOS approval?

    thanks,

    WaltnRafi

  14. Hello there!

I will make my situation clear:

I had the medical exam on May 5,2008.

Got the rest of the shots for completion sometime on September.

Now;the new law implemented that on or after June 1 an applicant need to have a TB Skin Test.

In my situation, what is really the date bases here?

"May"(?)---my medicale exam or (if I base May,then I'm exempted with the TB Skin Test)

    "September"(?)---completion of shots(if I base September,then I need to have a TB Skin Test.)

What is really the date bases?Which is which?

    Questions:

1.Am I exempted with the TST based on my "MAY" medical exam date? OR

2.I need the TST based on "SEPTEMBER" completion of shots?

    Gush,these makes me crazy!!!

We supposed to send my AOS packet this week.

If anyone had any situation like mine, kindly post it.

    I need clarification.

    Thank you so much!

    WaltnRafi

  15. Hi,

I had my medical exam last May 5,2008.

But the shots I received are not complete;which means I need to complete those mentioned shots here in the States.

I got the shot completion sometime on September. The CS signed the worksheet.

Until I saw an article of the new law implemented that on or after June 1 there is a need for a TB Skin Test.

Do I need to do the TST thing too? 'though I got the shot completion last September as required for me?

    It is horribly confusing

Detailed info and help is appreciated.

What does she write in these sections especially section 7. in example everything was left blank in these areas so we are confused?
