  1. Not all of it. Acquiring your case number from NVC is one of a majority of things that has not changed.
  2. Oh my lord, I just realized they had entered my fiance's email incorrectly as well, and sent it to the wrong address. SHEESH, time for another NVC inquiry to fix that
  3. yes? Translation is not a requirement, if you can understand what you are reading.
  4. Not sure why I got this as well today, in addition to the auto-reply from last week. It gives off 2020 vibes. When did embassies cease/resume operations in order to make this response relevant? At any rate, they make reference of crossing 60 days, yet the new NOA2 is now only 2 weeks in. Confusion sets in. 🤣 If we're lucky, none of this will matter and Joberg requests cases --including ours-- tomorrow.
  5. Removing my comment, tagged people can respond
  6. Nothing lawyery about it, think because of the odd circumstance you misunderstood. First NOA2 was March through end of June. We got another one last week, exact same form, but the dates were advanced from May to mid September. It's an outlying situation, so don't worry about it. I have no idea what it means, other than potentially more time at the NVC stage.
  7. I will add that if you don't have a case number yet, you can request it from NVC around four weeks after issuance of the NOA2. This won't speed up the process, but will allow you to track your status on the CEAC site.
  8. First NOA2 issued the first week of March here. Nine weeks later, we got a new NOA2 with dates advanced, even though we weren't even halfway through the 4 month window. It's all at the embassy's discretion how long it takes, but it seems taking more than a couple months --sometimes quite a few more-- is the status quo. We are now at 11 weeks, so..
  9. You’re going to need to be more specific if you want NVC or embassy information either way, it’s vague emails from what I’ve learned. I’m certainly not the one to ask for assistance on this. It’s why I made the thread
  10. Whatever plan is in place, when dealing with US immigration it is absolutely vital to start with reading instructions. Some are convoluted, that's what discussions are for: not reading instructions a petitioner can look up.
  11. I highly recommend you give the google drive link in the OP a click, it walks you through the NVC stage.
  12. SO, NVC got back to me. I explained how I received a new NOA2 for the same USCIS receipt number, attached pics of both forms, and asked if there was any issue with my case. The response was, "We have received your case, the number is <same number>." I'm going to assume the use of a template is a good sign 🤣
  13. Impossible to say. Depends on how the USCIS agent who picks up your case is feeling. Some might nope out and return it, and for just cause, because disassembling over-packaged petitions weighs down processing times for everyone else. Others might work with it anyway, since they are feeling nice. Good luck, be more mindful next time.
  14. Exactly, you're going to wait no matter what. I have said a few times on this forum, if I had done my research a year ago I would've picked the spouse visa. I'm too far along now to really change that. The upcoming costs are not something I look forward to, for the privilege of living with my spouse immediately after the wedding.
  15. Hi, welcome to the site! A question like this is answered just by acclimating to the site, getting your timeline filled out, and searching similar timelines, which is going to give you ongoing and relevant data points for all of the wait times to come. Best of luck!
  16. If you want to do this legally, which is the only way I would recommend, then there is no expedient method. Arguably, some people say the spouse visa is less time overall, and better in terms of gaining a green card/work auth/paying less fees to the government. However, it's hard for some people to wrap their heads around the idea of getting married then sorting the paperwork, forcing couples to live outside the US (sometimes together, sometimes with the USC back at home) for upwards of a year. The desire to avoid that and do the K1 does come at several costs: monetarily, logistically, and time-wise. Ultimately the choice is up to you.
  17. There doesn't need to be any formal event or even a ring. Declarations of intent are what are required for the petition, and explain what the nature of your relationship is (engaged to be married). If you two have both decided to file the 129F, congrats, you're engaged.
  18. I hope so too! Ultimately, it makes me wonder if my embassy requested a shipment and NVC noticed something out of place and back it went in the chain... Again, I think you're right, it's all speculation and I can just hope they'll double-time it in seeing someone on their end --either at NVC or USCIS-- did a no-no Thanks guys. We'll see what happens next week!
  19. Meanwhile, I got a new NOA2 from USCIS with new validity dates so that's confusing as hell lol Going to review best practices for emailing NVC, make sure we're still on track with the same case
  20. I will certainly send an inquiry. Is revalidation normal and if that's the reason, is there anything required of us to get the case on track to be selected for the embassy shipment? I suppose I can ask that of NVC as well. Just wondering if you know.
  21. I tried USCIS and could not get a live person. Feared this. They always hang up on you and refuse to give a live person. i looked at the USCIS account online and am even more confused. The case.. was approved? Not the petition? Why would they send out another NOA2 and what does USCIS have to do with it?
  22. The USCIS number is the same, yes not sure if there will be a new NVC case as a result though and if I have to wait the 2-4 weeks again
  23. But I requested a case number and have been running status checks on it for six weeks…
  24. Hey all: I just got another NOA2 in the mail. We received the first one the first week of March, Notice date 3/1/24, valid from 3/1-6/30. The new one has a new notice date of 5/8, valid until 9/7. Is this normal? What does it mean? Is there a duplicate case at the NVC? Is this just them getting a jump on an extension, halfway through the validity dates for some reason? How does this affect our timeline? No other updates have been sent from USCIS or NVC. Thanks for any info.
  25. CONGRATS! That is super weird, agreed. It prompted me to CEAC check but no movement here. Ah well. So happy for you!
