  1. I see, thank you very much! Yes we will certainly ensure that she as the primary sponsor has a complete and accurate affidavit. In this case with her current income, should we request a letter through her work about her anticipated income since she hasn't worked there long enough to show the suggested six months of pay stubs? And should we attach her verifications of non-filing or is this not necessary?
  2. My wife and I are working on the Affidavits of Support necessary for her to sponsor me, the beneficiary. She did not earn enough in recent years to sponsor me so her dad has agreed to be my sole joint sponsor and he alone makes well over the requirement for his household size plus me. My question is about what information we should provide for my wife’s affidavit, which I know is less important since her dad’s will be very straightforward as he has earned a consistent amount for the last three years and we have his tax return transcripts in order. For 2022 and 2023 she did not work and has verifications of non-filing for these years (which I have read may not be necessary). However, in 2024 she worked for ~4 months and made a few thousand dollars and filed her taxes accordingly and she started a different job about three months ago which she is still working and plans to continue to work. We put her current position and place of employment down under ‘Part 6. Sponsor's Employment and Income’ on her form, but I’m not sure what to put under her current individual annual income since I know they normally want 6 months of paystubs or a letter from her employer about her projected salary if she hasn't filed taxes for that job yet. I don’t know if it would seem like we were misrepresenting her current income if we just put her total income from last year when she briefly worked her previous job since she has already surpassed that this year. I assume we should check ‘No’ for ‘Have you filed a Federal income tax return for each of the three most recent tax years?’, then put zeros (or is it N/A?) under 16.b. and 16.c., then should we also click the box by ‘I was not required to file a Federal income tax return as my income was below the IRS required level and I have attached evidence to support this.’ and provide her verifications of non-filing? I have read that some people just retroactively file their taxes for previous years with their income as zero to make this simpler but I think my wife had to file hers via mail this year because I don’t have an SSN which I assume would be the same issue if we tried to do her previous years. Also, should we be filling out ‘Part 7. Use of Assets to Supplement Income’? Because it only says to skip it if your household helps you to meet the requirement and I don’t see anything about joint sponsors here. I know she won’t meet the requirement on her form alone regardless, We’re just not sure how incomplete we should leave it. We also made notes under ‘Additional Information’ stating for page 7 part 6.b. and 6.c. “Not required to file that year. Income too low.” I know we’re probably overthinking this since the joint sponsor is straightforward and my wife’s affidavit won’t pass the requirements anyway but we still aren’t totally certain what to submit. We would hate for an oversight on this part of our application to cause issues or delays. Thanks!
  3. Yes, I ended up finding somewhere closer and going ASAP this morning and I have a lot more confidence in the person who submitted it this time doing it correctly. I will just hold off on uploading anything until I get the correct one, thanks!
  4. Looks like the Commissionaires 3 hours away don't have appointment openings for about a month anyway and the next closest is about 5 hours away but does have some slots tomorrow. Is it worth calling the NVC for advice or do they even have a contact line anymore?
  5. I made a point of printing off the detailed instructions outlined here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Canada.html and bringing them to my local RCMP detachment, and I requested my police check a couple months ago so it would be ready once my I-R1 was approved but I stupidly forgot to ensure in the meantime that I did in fact receive the correct one and of course I did not. I'm hesitant to go to another RCMP office in a nearby city to try again but the nearest Commissionaires is a three hour drive away and it sounds like it would still take a week minimum to receive the police check in the mail after that. My question is, should I still upload the police check I already have in the meantime and get the correct one within the next month when I am already planning to be near the Commissionaires so it will be ready well before my interview? The reason I ask this is because I have heard many stories about people uploading the 'wrong' one, having it approved by the NVC, only to be told at their interview that they need to send in the correct one. I'm curious about peoples experiences with this or if it's really not worth risking potential delays by trying this if it isn't even consistently accepted by the NVC. The one I received does have a photo of me and photos of my fingerprints which I know is wrong but seems to sometimes be accepted by the NVC though never at the interview, of course. I only received my NVC welcome email yesterday and submitted my fees last night. It said it would take something like 3-10 days to process the fees which I assume is when I will be allowed to upload my Affidavit of Support, Financial documents, Police Check, etc.-- I really hate to delay the process in any way and I'm super frustrated that I overlooked this. Am I misunderstanding the document submission timeline in this part of the process completely? I assume I should be uploading a police report within the next week. If I do this should I upload the correct one as soon as I get it or just wait and bring it to the interview? Will I not know for a few months if the NVC has even accepted the wrong one? I'm thinking I should just resign myself to the 6 hour trip tomorrow to get the correct one ASAP and hopefully only delay uploading it by a few days. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations for where to get a police check in Calgary with as quick a turnaround (and the correct type!) as possible? Any way I can be even more clear about what type I need?
