  1. Hi Sept. filers. :star:

I had an AOS interview last Friday and got an approval.

Though we had to wait for an interview for about one hour, the actual interview took us less than 15 minutes.

Our IO was a nice lady. She just asked us basic questions. No cross examination was made.

Two prominent questions she asked were how we met and who the people in our wedding pics are.

The only one problem we faced was that the vaccination letter which the civil surgeon sealed in the envelope did not have a check in a box "All vaccination requirements are met...," so the IO was about to ask me to call civil surgeon and get another letter.... But, then the one the civil surgeon gave me had a check in the box, so I showed it to her. She took my copy and said that she would replace the one in file with my copy and there is no problem. Bringing copies saved my butt. :star: So, make sure to bring all copies of everything.... I mean everything.

Anyway, she gave me the approval letter and told me that I should receive my GC within 30 days. :star:

Good Luck to you all.

  2. Hello Sept. filers :star:

I am sorry that I was away from the forum for a while.

I have been so busy with job interviews and gathering GC interview documents....

But, I have a great news. :star:

    I got a job as a paralegal at a law firm. :dance::star::dance::star::dance:

I had to take a test and have several interviews......But, yes, I did it. :)

Because I will have to take the busiest freeway in L.A. to commute everyday, it kinda sucks...

But, pay and benefits are great, so I do not have much to complain. I will gladly be stuck in traffic. lol

I will start next Monday. I am so excited.

Anyway, I hope you all are doing well.

My interview is coming up in three weeks.

I will definitely let you know how it is. :star:

  3. hi everyone,

we just move to a new place and i have to make the change of address right? so i have the AR11 form just have a question on some part of it:

What shall i put on this part or should i leave it blank? i need your expertise, thanks in advance.

If not a permanent resident my stay in the US expires on:

    Thank you so much everyone.

I would not leave it blank.

If there is enough space, I would mention "my I-485(application to adjust status to permanent resident) is pending at this point" or something like that.

  5. Has anyone who's case was transfered to CSC been touched after being transfered? Other then EAD

Not me, but then I've never had any touches this whole time...

The last notice I got from them on my AOS said that it "was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office." (CSC) I have to say I wasn't happy about the "standard processing" but I'm glad to see that interviews are coming through for people, it gives me a little hope. I'm just scared that I might get an interview for while we're away now (we're gone for a month) but I guess there's not much for it!

    Nao:

You're so lucky! I'm sure you can get all that paper work sorted no problem. :star:

You know, the only time this process went smoothly for hubby and me was when we were in Japan, I miss the efficiency there! ^_^

Thanks. :) We totally did not expect an interview in Feb. I thought L.A. office takes much longer....

It was a good move that we made a bank account and some other accounts joint ahead of time.

I am making a list of what to bring to the interview right now. It seems that we can sort those docs out without a struggle.

I will bring extra docs just in case though. :star:

Oh, yea! It is all about job efficiency in Japan.

For my K1, it took less than a month for them to approve my visa since they received my petition from NVC.

They take customer service very seriously (almost too serious though...lol).

If we were in Japan, they would really precisely issue EAD and AP in order received.

I also miss the efficiency there...

    Oooops... It is Saturday...

Damn, I need to start working so that I get sense of date back...

  7. Hello. :star:

I received an AOS interview letter yesterday and there is one thing which isn't clear to me.... :help:

On the letter received, it tells us to bring "Original and copy of each supporting document that you submitted with your application."

Are they telling us to bring copy of supporting docs which we submitted with our original AOS application?

    or

Are they telling us to bring copy of supporting docs which we will bring to the AOS interview with us so that they can keep the copy?

Thanks in advance for your help. :)

  10. Got a Notice from USCIS "REQUEST FOR APPLICANT TO APPEAR FOR INITIAL INTERVIEW"!

    Notice Date: Dec. 29, 2008

    Postmarked: Dec. 30, 2008

    Recevied: Jan. 06, 2009

My schedule is February 13, 2009.

    Some queries:

    1. Just wanna know if others who receive notice for their interview has the same statement "REQUEST FOR APPLICANT TO APPEAR INITIAL INTERVIEW"?

    2. Is this the only interview i will have or there's another one after this (final interview)?

    3. What's next after the interview if everything is ok?

    4. Please leave any tips that you believe maybe useful for my husband and myself! Thanks

I will appreciate very much your reply...Thank you and God bless to us all!

    Hi j.kevs.

I also received an interview letter in mail today.

Since I expected to receive it in late Spring, my husband and I were astonished....

The interview date is Feb. 20, 2009.

envy_me, please update my time line. Thanks in advance. :star:

    Regarding your questions:

    1. Mine also says "REQUEST FOR APPLICANT TO APPEAR INITIAL INTERVIEW"

    2. I am pretty sure that this is the only interview we are going to have unless there is a problem at the interview.

    3. We wait for our petition to get approved and wait for our Green card in mail.

    4. I have not looked at the letter in depth yet since I have a job interview tomorrow. I will definitely post it here when I make a list of things to bring with.

    Nao

  11. Ok. I just called USCIS because today is my day 90.

Last time I called I had a charming man on the phone, but this time I had a girl who was speaking sooooo fast, I couldn't understand a word ( plus my cell connexion sucked). And whenever I asked her to repeat, she would just repeat the same sentence even faster...So I guess she put a service request, i also heard the word interim EAD, and she gave me a confirmation number. For those who already been through this. What is this number for?

I also heard 45days. Am I suppose to do something in 45days if I don't hear from them? Are they going to give me an interim EAD? why not the normal one?

Pfff...I wished I had someone else on the phone... :(

Getting someone else on the phone wouldn't change anything. She did the standard procedure of putting in a service request and yes, you can call them if you don't hear anything from then in 45days. I know i know, it's bullshit after waiting 90 days you have to wait another 45 days. So all you can do is wait or go to an info pass appointment as some people have done with success on here and also email Ombudsman which I have done and still no updates. Tomorrow will be one week after contacting ombudsman and they say if we don't here anything within a week to contact their office so I am just going crazy waiting. We really need me to work because it is really tough with one income. Hope this helps

Sorry to hear that lucie&damon, if it makes you feel any better my 'New Zealand English' and their 'American English' can't even get along at times, my accent gets them annoyed with me all the time! But don't worry, the number is just for your reference, it's the proof that they put the request in. I'm sure you will hear something long before 45 days are up but if it feels like too long (maybe a week at most ) get that info pass appointment or email the Ombudsman as Time suggests.

    Time:

I really hope you hear something soon, it does seem that they are at least a little more interested in us though. Contact them tomorrow if you haven't heard anything and let us know how you get on. Good luck.

    Nao:

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

And I have a little question. I'm not sure what those of you who have had interview appointments have received, is it just something in the post or did you get an email along with it? Sorry if this has already been answered, I couldn't remember and as we're going back to NZ soon, I just want to make sure that if something comes I wont miss out on it (hopeful thinking maybe  ). Thanks guys.

    Thanks, kiwibecka :star:

    Hi folks,

So I'm doing my biometrics tomorrow morning (finally) but the appointment letter that I received is only for the I-485. Can I do the biometrics for the EAD as well on the same appointment?

In our group I know of one person (aomary) who got the EAD without the biometrics so I guess it's not required?

Also, I was able to get an infopass appointment tomorrow morning as well to bring up the issue of my EAD as it's been 90 days since I applied. Wish me luck.

Nao: congrats on getting your EAD. After my appointments tomorrow, I will email the ombudsman, as well.

    Thanks, mellowgeorge :star:

  12. Got a letter from USCIS today. I was so excited, I ripped it open right at in the mail room!

    But, more disappointment :(

In some instances we have established separate processing time goals following certain kinds of actions. In this case, the case history indicates that the appropriate processing time benchmark is the response to the request for evidence recieved on 10-17-2008 and the normal processing time is 90 days from this date. This case is within that normal processing time. If you do not recieve a decision or notice of other action within this time, check our website for an update or call customer service at the number provided below.

    AAARRRRGGHHH!!!!!!

This is so f$&^@*ing rediculous!!! That RFE was for a form with the AOS application! The only thing it had to do with the EAD was that they were filed together!!!

Why do I always get these noticed on Saturdays so I have to wait two days to even call and complain???

So beyond pissed right now...and feeling very, very stuck. 'Cause it's not like we can just quit or use another company - we're stuck with this pain-in-the-a$$ inefficient government #######!!!

    :diablo:

    Mmmm.

I thought that if your receive an RFE, you exclude the number of days between the date you received RFE and the date your reply was received byUSCIS from 90 days....

It is so ridiculous if they make you count 90 days all over again from the date they received your RFE reply....

You should definitely call them and double check....

  13. A Happy New Year :star::dance::star::dance:

I just got back from my husband's hometown yesterday.

When I opened the mail box, I found two letters from USCIS with bunch of junk mails.

One was for my Advance Parole Document and another was a response for the service request that I put in like three weeks ago....

Since I could not check the status of my Advance Parole, I did not know what was going on with my application...

But, anyway, I received my Advance Parole Document on 12/31. :star:

Envy me, please update my timeline on your chart. :)

I also received an e-mail that they sent out my EAD on 12/30.

So, it is on its way to me. :)

Now, I have to start to hunt for a job. ;)

  14. Hi all sept filers!

I have an infopass appointment on monday :)

Seems it has helped others, so I want to give it a try.

    Merry Christmas everybody :jest:

Infopass worked for me and I am pretty sure that it should work to you, too. :star:

Yep, you should give a try. There is nothing to lose in the USCIS waiting game. :star:

    Nao

    Thanks :)

I am glad I was able to get an appointment so fast.

Did they give you any information about the 485 during your infopass appoinment?

They did not give me any info on my I-485 at the appointment.

I think it will take a while for me to receive an interview letter since downtown L.A. office, which is my local office, handles so many immigration cases. So, at this point, I am not so worried about the AOS interview. :)

I think you can ask them about your AOS, but there is not clear timeline for receiving an interview letter. So, your interview letter should come when time comes. :star:

Merry Christmas and Good luck

  15. I couldn't believe it! What a really nice gift!

  16. As a response, USCIS wrote the ombudsman that they will try to process EAD pending over 90 days within 4 hours when an applicant shows up to an infopass appointment.

    :star:

4 hours! wouldn't that be the greatest?!

so, an update from my side:

called to make another service request for an interim ead today as we are at about 93 days or so...

the guy was nice, and said we should hear something in 5 days. he said we couldn't do the interim over the phone, which of course, contradicts what we were told earlier.

but still, i'm happy that he said 5 days, instead of 45 days. who knows, maybe we'll have some luck? :innocent:

we still have an infopass sent up for next Monday.

here's hoping for the best for all of us!

    Hi AlHayatZween. :star:

It is great to know that you have an infopass set up for next Monday. :star:

The officer I talked to was very positive that her e-mail should speed up the process.

So, I am almost positive that as soon as you talk to the officer next Monday, your EAD is on its way to be approved. :star:

I cannot wait to hear a great news of approval.

    Nao

  17. Thanks time1300, blukiss24, AlHayatZween, Enhjørningen and all the members of the Sept. family :star:

If you are still waiting for an EAD approval and can go to an infopass, I really recommend you to do so. :star:

I was searching a little more on that topic and found some informations...

One lawyers website recommends to go to an infopass instead of calling because the telephone representatives works for a company which is contracted by USCIS. That is why there is such inconsistency in what they tell you and they do not have full access to out info. I am not sure if this is true, but it sounded credible.

Then, on the ombudsman's letter to USCIS, which was issued last Sept. or Oct., he/she warned USCIS to process EAD within 90-day time frame. As a response, USCIS wrote the ombudsman that they will try to process EAD pending over 90 days within 4 hours when an applicant shows up to an infopass appointment.

    :star:

I wish you all the best luck.

Thanks again for your continuous support. (F)

  18. hey NAO,

I have a question, you know before the email, when you would check your status on line, it would say something like "we have received your application on _________________________ (date).............. right?

What did that date say and do you count your 90 days from that date?

When I check my status online, mine says:

Current Status: Case received and pending.

On September 29, 2008, we received this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

Is that the date everyone counts their 90days from...............

Anyone else can answer this question too please..........

    Hi time1300.

    Thanks :star:

I wish you could go to an infopass...But, yes, safety is the most important thing. :star:

While waiting, you can keep calling. If there is still a snow storm after 90 days, I may just e-mail an ombudsman, explaining the situation.

Anyway, the date on your online account is "not" the date you count 90 days from.

You count days from the application received date on the actual NOA1 letter. There are two dates on NOA1 and the one you use to count 90 days is the received date. You also have to exclude the days it took for you to respond RFE if you received a RFE.

Thanks for your support and good luck
