    Hi,

I had my interview earlier this week and I was only asked for my birth certificate. I did take a copy of my fiancees as well though just in case they asked for it though.

Thank you so much! It’s looking like I won’t need it then, and if needed hopefully just my photo copy will be enough

I do not believe for K1s a certified copy of the petitioner's birth certificate is required.

The letter doesn't specify that petitioner and beneficiary birth certs are required, and it is listed in the singular on the letter.

    The embassy website ( https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/required-documents/ ) says:image.thumb.png.54d452b0e1d6841e882de224b1d4fc91.png

For a K1 the petitioner is not yet a spouse, that is the way I understand it. I also sent my fiance with a good, clear copy of my birth certificate. Getting another certified one would have been expensive and time-consuming since I am out of state. I saw someone else on the forums who had a petitioner birth certificate, but I believe it was a different visa type.

The only certified document I sent my fiance with was an additional certified copy of my divorce certificate, as I had seen that requested of another K1 applicant at interview. I decided that the $2.85 to get another set printed and sealed was worth it.

Thank you so much! Your replies are always so detailed and helpful, they provide a lot to relief to me. And yes, for me too it would be inconvenient because currently we’re in the middle of a hurricane and I can’t go in person, nothings open, and by mail it wouldn’t make it in time. Has your fiance done the interview yet? My fiances interview is August 15th!

  3. Hello, is the petitioners birth certificate required at the London Embassy for the k1 visa interview? I’m getting a lot of mixed information on this. Some say yes, but others say no because this is about the beneficiary and the petitioners proof of citizenship was already proved at the USCIS stage. Is someone could clear this up for me it would be very helpful because I’ve unfortunately sent just a regular copy of my birth certificate to my fiance(beneficiary), and not a certified copy. The interview is next week so im in a bit of a panic, but the instructions on the UK gov website say nothing about the petitioners birth certificate if I’m reading correctly. If anyone could help it would be appreciated, this might be a dumb question but I just want to make sure because there’s a lot of differing information online.

  4. We haven’t received anything from the London Embassy and our case has been ready since June 24th. From what I’ve heard it’s ok to start filling out the ds-160 so we did that today, but it’s asking me to certify that I’ve received an IMBRA pamphlet which I have not gotten. Am I supposed to wait for this? I know we can’t book the interview yet without instructions from the embassy which we haven’t received, we just wanted to go ahead and get this form out the way

  5. @ScarletWitch6x Oh my gosh thank you for your comments, this was so beyond helpful and has cleared up my confusion so thank you so so much! Yes, I also have a lot of anxiety so I know how that feels 😭 It’s really difficult for me finding all of this information online so you sending the links and that shipping date has really calmed me down a lot. Thank you too for your quick reply! And yes, I was marked ready on the 24th

  6. Hello, im getting very mixed information about this online. Do I have to wait for an instruction packet from the London Embassy before booking medical, interview, and filling out the ds-160? Our case has been ready since the 24th of June but I’m not even sure what to do because some people say it’s fine to book but then I read others say don’t. I’m starting to get a bit stressed since our NOA2 expires in early September. Thank you

  7. I could really use some advice because I've been getting a lot of mixed information. I, the petitioner, am a full-time college student who has never had a job so I've never had to file taxes. My grandmother, who I live with, will be a joint sponsor. Recently, we just received our NOA2 and our case is at NVC.

    1. I am currently filling out i-134, I have put my income at $0 on number 14 on page 6 where it asks. on page 7 it asks for my assets, which I am providing my savings account and it asks for proof of these assets. is a monthly statement enough proof of this?
    2. on pages 3 and 4 where it asks about my beneficiary's financial information and assets, do I leave that area with N/A since me and my joint sponsor will be responsible for him even though he has an income?
    3. what financial form does my joint sponsor that I live with fill out? does my joint sponsor fill out another i-134, or form i-864a? whenever I ask this question, I get told one or the other which has really puzzled me on which one she is supposed to fill out.
    4. since I have never filed taxes before, I've heard that I have to write a small letter clarifying that I'm a student so I've never had to file before. Is this correct, and is this all I need to provide on my part besides the monthly statement of my savings account?
    5. on page 8 of i-134 form, it states "I intend to make specific contributions to the support of the beneficiary named in Part 2. Explain the contribution. For example, if you intend to furnish room and board, state for how long. If you intend to provide money, state the amount in U.S. dollars and whether it is to be given in a lump sum, weekly, or monthly, and for how long. If you need additional space, use Part 8. Additional Information." because I do not have an income and my grandmother will be finically responsible for my fiancé, I could use some advice on how to word things for this area. I of course know I am financially responsible for my fiancé as well because I'm the petitioner,  do I just say that we will be living in my grandmother's home where we will both provide for him? Or do I change it to I do not intend to make specific contributions? I'm just confused on the question in general because of my situation and any advice would help.

Thank you so much and any help would be appreciated in this overwhelming process.

  8. So long story short, I’ve never had a job before and currently do not have one as I have been focusing on my education my whole life. My fiancé is in the UK and I’m in the US. I live with my grandmother and mom, to which my grandmother agreed to be a joint sponsor. My question is is it going to be an issue that I’ve never had a job before? No employer, never filed taxes etc. What do I put down on the I-129-F form for example where it says “employment history/current employer”? I don’t want them to think we can’t provide for him to live here and immediately decline because I put down “NA” or something. Should I put down student? Since my grandmother is going to be the joint sponsor, would she handle all the details about financial information when it comes to that point? This is all so much to process and learn about, and im still learning a lot but it’s very overwhelming and I wanted some advice from here and different opinions. I have more than enough money in savings which is another reason I’ve never had a job, so I do have enough to support over time just not a current income.
