  1. Hi All,

I have a question, any help on this will be greatly appreciated. My brother's visa petition has been approved by USCIS and is in NVC now where I will have to pay $400 fees to go further. While we applied he was not married that is few years ago. Now he is married and has a child. How do I add family information to the visa petition at this point. Because I am assuming if he has to accompain his wife and child to US he will have to pay $400 fees for each one.

    Thank you,

    Usha

Contact the NVC; http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3177.html. Tell them that you want to add your brother's wife and child as derivative beneficiaries.

I presume you will need at the very least, a copy of your brother's marriage certificate and a copy of his child's birth certificate certified by the appropriate issuing authority.

Each beneficiary will require a $400 fee for the DS-230 (immigration visa application). $1,200 for the entire family.

Thank you very much for the quick reply aaron.

she said shes wants nothin everying is fine and dint want to see any pics or emails or phone cards etc she said I TRUST U..

    so hmmm ok

i gues we wait for their formality chek or whatever theyre doing

    will keep yal posted...

    thanks all for ur concerns

I am sure you remember that we are in the same situation. When my husband was done with his interview the CO said he didnt need to bring anything else and he wouldnt need to return for another interview, just wait for her to call for him to submit his passport.

I have since talked with my senator and the information we have gotten back is they are varifying documents relating to our relationship (they kept his divorce papers and our marriage documents, everything else they gave back).

I have also learned from others that if you call DOS they would tell you if it is security or name checks. Luckily for us they have not said that...just AP.

check with the AP waivers forum for more answers, that is where I found so much information and many others going through the same thing.

Our papers were perfect and so was the interview, even I was called at 3 am here in the US to be interviewed. I never in my life thought (or even knew of) AP before this and it knocked the wind out of me. we are going on 9 weeks now (I dont think any government moves with any speed), so hang in there, many have survived much longer (11 months or more) but to be in the middle of the wait is pure torture, you have my sympathy.

Hyd hang in there.. as she said she is confident and your interview was smooth... it is just the formality. Don't mess your India trip and enjoy yourself..... you are in my prayers too.....

  4. Chintan,

My husband is going to get his medical done in Apollo Hospitals in Ahmedabad.. Going on July 29th.. I will update his visit once it is done..

    Bani :star:

Hi Bani, Your husband is getting it done in Ahamedabad and it is not mandatory to get it done in Mumbai? Based on this I am just wondering then as my consulate is Chennai can I get it done in Bangalore. If you have any consulate website regarding this, would you mind forwarding this to me. Because I always thought you need to get your medical done in the same city where your consulate is and by one of the authorized doctor of the consulate.

    Neethope,

As i read through the mumbai consulate panel of physicians.. they have listed the authorized places where the medical can be done.. Since my husband lives in Ahmedbad and they have listed Apollo Hospitals for medical.. Why not do it over there ?? The link for mumbai panel of physicians is

    http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/uploads/imag...ians_mumbai.pdf

Also, i found one link in chennai consulate that gives the names of doctors and places in chennai where the medical can be done..

    http://chennai.usconsulate.gov/uploads/ima..._Letter0802.doc

it is not necessary to have the medical done in the place where the interview is.. you can get your medical done in the place where they have authorized for immigrant visa applicants..

i hope this helps.. Take care

    Bani :star:

Thanks Bani for the information. Looks like only Mumbai consulate has designated hospital and lab in other city like Ahamedabad. Chennai has just chennai and not Bangalore, so my trip to Chennai still stands :)

  6. Congrats! That is great news - hope it all goes well! :star:

Congratulations Roza!!!!!!!!!!!!!:dance: yup.. I can understand your state of mind.. until now.. we were like.. ho we don't have a date.. and now.. when we have one .. ho.. only so many days to take care and finish off stuff. You approximately have 3 weeks to go.... all the very best for your interview....

Thats what i was thinking Neethope...NVC and Embassy should give us some time to prepare ....

Actually the process says the NVC ask for free dates from Embassy/Consulate after getting free dates NVC shedule the interviews and inform the applicants.

So we can say Embassy is very much involved in delay of interviews.

yup that is true.. but looks like until the packet is reached to the consulate, the embassy doesn't know for which case when is the interview. Since they hadn't opened my packet yet on Monday they couldn't confirm the interview date for me.. today they confirmed the packet has reached and they know my interview date. Anyway, we are there and the long long wait is over, I think that is more important.. lets enjoy :). I know, I have suddenly gotten busy after I know my date, letting people at work know, working out if I can get a transfer, taking care of personal stuff etc etc etc... But that is the fun part of it.. probably... :star:

  8. has any one of you checked to see if you number is on the published list form chennai ??

    http://chennai.usconsulate.gov/uploads/ima...appoint0808.pdf

I called the operator to double check my interview date ...but its not in the published list.

AandLKC, not to worry, nor is mine in. But our packet has reached them on July 14th and they have our information. I emailed them and they confirmed the iinterview date for me. Here is their email id - ChennaiIV@state.gov.

They are very responsive, I have got back replies from them in less than 1.5 hours during their business hours.. wow!!! I am happy with how quick they are...

  9. Thanks! I wish it were so easy as checking off a list and breathing easily.

No problem! ...and don't we all? Unfortunately, the people who think like that are professional scammers most of the time. That's why we can't breathe easily and why we have to stress about dotting our "I's" and crossing our "T's"

I'm hoping I am not making a bad decision... well, more so a forced decision..I won't be able to be in Frankfurt, Germany for my spouse's interview. The flights are just too expensive at this time. I have tried adjusting dates/times and what not, but the cheapest I can find is still $1300-$1400 (with taxes). I am planning on sending my husband the copies of our paperwork that I was orginally going to bring: The I-130, G-325A, I-864 and the DS-230. I also have another I-864 if a joint sponsor is indeed needed. In addition that that, I am also sending along our photoalbum, plane tickets, greeting cards, phone calls and emails.

I hope that's good enough. Can anyone recommend anything else? I think I have all grounds covered. Of course, I know already to bring the interview invitation, passport and medical exam results. Am I forgetting anything else important that will help our case even though I can't attend his interview?

    Thanks.

    Best,

    Przy

Hi Przy do you have chat logs if you chat online with him like from Yahoo Messenger you can save all the chats then print them:-) Also practice with him questions they might ask about you or both of you.

Got those too. Not much with chat logs as we are usually on for a second and then go to skype to chat for a couple hours. Got the question part nailed. I used Loto's (PatiencePaidOff) template for the questions and sent them to my hubby. Thanks very much! (F)

Hi Przy, firstly I don't think it is a bad decision. USC attending the interview is more for emotional support and things will be fine don't worry. Just remember to tell your husband everything about you, like where you work, your siblings, family etc etc etc.. if you have missed any until now :). And who is who in the wedding pictures... We decided on the same, that my husband won't travel to India during my interview so that he can take that vacation during my first few days in US, so that he would spend time with me and help me get used things around. All the best, stay cool and prepare for his arrival in the US :)

  10. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neetu called me up just a little while ago and told me the visa is APPROVED!

There were no issues at all ...

Here's a rough sketch of her process and more details will follow -

6:30am Arrival at Embassy (preceded by waking up, doing paath [prayers], and going to gurudwara [temple] before going to Embassy)

    7:00am Entrance into Embassy

    7:10am DS230 signed/sworn to and fingerprinting done

8:15am First interview - basic questions but more "in depth" than second interview

9:30am Second interview - even more basic questions and Neetu was told she was APPROVED

    She called me about 9:45am!!!

She told me that they didn't look at any pictures, email, or any other proof of any kind ... Just asked basic questions ...

Some of the questions (all quite basic):

    Where did you first meet?

Was the marriage arranged or "love"?

Who attended the wedding from your husband's side?

Did your husbands sibling attend the wedding?

How many people attended the wedding?

What does your husband do in the USA?

    Where does he live?

Do you know why your tourist visa was denied?

(Neetu answered because she was still single and that was her assumption as to why, given her age - the interviewer just said "Oh, this was before marriage? Okay...")

(The order of the above questions is mixed up because I'm not sure which interviewer asked which ones just yet)

I'll get you guys more details as I get them (tomorrow morning for me will be when I next speak with Neetu)...

    I'm FRIGGIN' PSYCHEDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!

    NINE DAYS BEFORE SHE'S HERE!

  13. Thanks a ton to VJ forum helping us go through this journey, I can't imagine without this forum how we could go through the process and get all the information we got here. Probably now I can laugh at it, from VJ it is not just my husband and I who became knowledgeable but also a very well known law firm in NY/NJ as well. Based on the information we had, my husband and I had to educate our lawyer to do the necessary step by step and still they made mistakes that costed us time and not to speak about the lump some money that we are going to shell out on them. Based on this bitter experience we both are smarter when it comes to lawyers now and no regrets as it was just my husband's love towards me that he insisted on hiring him so that things don't go wrong :star: (Now I can say that ... after grumbling to him many times how dumb the lawyer is B)

My interview is on 28th August 8:00 A.M.........   Now suddenly I don't know where to start from....packing and getting ready for the interview.... and to join my husband.... :star:

Thanks a ton again folks and wish you all the others a faster and smooth journey... I will have most of you all in my prayers.

  14. hi,

I took it as soon as I got my Interview letter. Simple as That.

    Jigi

I am not aware of 7 days prior to the interview for medical. I have heard from lot of VJ member in Chennai that they got it done a day prior or two before the interview. I am also planning to do just one trip to chennai and will try to schedule the medical two days prior to the interview, having one day in between if things get delayed with medical. Since these people are designated labs/doctors from the embassy, they would value time and I don't think a delay can be more than few hours in this case. I am still evaluating one day prior to the interview as well

  15. Hello All,

  16. Hyd617,

I have a question for you.. After you came to know about your "case completed" how long after you came to know about the interview date, NVC scheulded for your case..

I want to know.. how long it will take them for my case.. just guessing the days..

    Thanks.

    Bani :star:

    hi bani

they scheduled mine and lots of others on june 10 2008.. check my signature

    Hyd617

Thanks.. I checked that, but do they change the atuomated voice msgs.. when the interview is scheduled or you only know when you speak to NVC operator. Bani :star:

Bani, I am in the same boat as you, waiting for an interview date. case completed on June 27th. My approach thus far as been, I have been watching the dhl to track NVC packets and if I see any to my consulate(chennai) I have tried talking to an operator. Because my understanding is once they schedule the interview they send out the file to the respective consulate. But in the whole of July they haven't sent any packets at all to any consulate, probably this is due to July 4th holiday etc, they must all be still partying.. this week things should start working... and we should get to hear our dates in a couple of days

  17. Come on all July 2008 interview applicants...

I have some of them in my list:

    1) desiboy

    2) hurryup

    3) ROZA

    4) Hyd

    5) rajee

    6) neethope

Did I miss any of you ?

BTW, Sarah has interview on July 23rd at London. She is doing pretty well and expecting Kip's arrival in London.

Loto.. Wow, cool. Tell Sara congrats and good luck! Haven't seen her on the board for a long while.

    Chet, I'll convey your regards.

ROZA is eliminated since you're in August.

    1) desiboy

    2) hurryup

    3) Nitshrut

    4) Hyd

    5) rajee

    6) neethope

I am not in the July list too :crying: I am hoping to get an early august date in a day or two. My case was completed on June 27th, hence keeping my fingers crossed.

  18. Loto, you mention that I-129 or rather K3 visa is free, which I thought was not the case. Since VSC forced us through CR1 by approving just I-130 we got the I-129 fee waived off, if it wasn't the case I presume we would have paid the I-129(K3) visa fee and got that processed first. Isn't that the case, am I missing something here.

Secondly, do you know if NVC assigns the interview date and then sends the case to the consulate. If this is true, it would be nice to add this too.

On a general note, while i look at the document it feels as though all this will happen in the first few months which is not the case and while most of us have been waiting around an year now. Probably a disclaimer in the document will help people set the right expectation.

Neethope, For married people I-129F cannot be filed without underlying I-130 petition. Direct I-129F filing is for K-1 visa and they have to pay I-129F filing fee.

I'll add your 2 other suggestions - yes, NVC assigns the interview date if it is appointment post. Also, I'll provide a true timeframe for USCIS process in the disclaimer.

    Thanks for your feedback (F)

Loto, I understand your point that for spouse visa it can't be plain I-129F, probably I was not clear enough in my earlier post  . I was referring to K3 Spouse visa with I-130 filed first and then I -129F where you get a non-immigrant visa and file for your AOS in U.S. But since the tile of your guide is for IR1 or CR1, I think you can omit going detail into it. If you like to mention as a note that I-129F is for K3 non-immigrant visa here is the VJ link for that process http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...amp;page=k3flow

Thanks for all the hard work

  19. A big Congrats and may you have a safe trip home.

This is a detailed interview post LOTO... now I know exactly what to expect in the Chennai consulate for my interview. Thanks a lot for all the information. All the best for your future endeavors, may you both have that pleasant smile of Fathima forever :star:(F)

LOTO one question I had, if you have paid the VFS fees earlier, I didn't understand the reason behind VFS office visit on the day of interview prior to the interview.
