  1. Happy to announce that our I-485 adjustment of status has been approved! 😀 The I-130 and the I-485 were approved one day apart, so when we got notifications about case update, we both assumed it was them closing our I-130 case. Little did we know the AOS was actually approved and we've been ignorant of it this whole time. 😅 It looks like we have a package coming for this Saturday from the USCIS-Corbin production facility. I can only imagine that that must be her green card. We heard so many different things throughout this whole process, and so many nightmare stories. We were told that because we adjusted status in America off of a tourist visa that we would be put through the wringer, that we would be waiting 12-18 months, and that there would 100% be a USCIS interview required. None of that ended up being true. Aside from one RFE asking for additional marriage proof/pics, it was almost completely painless, if you don't count the initial work on all the forms. I'm sure my wife's home country being Japan probably helped, being that it's an ally nation and all. But I think it just goes to show that every case and case worker is different, and not everything you hear online is true (go figure). If you have honest intentions and do the process correctly, there's really nothing to worry about. Good luck to everyone still on this journey!
  2. I have a house, but I haven't looked into what it would take to add her to the title yet. Now that we have a utility bill and bank account, we should be able to apply for a state ID so that may help. I guess I'll see which other utilities allow me to add her. Thanks for the tips.
  3. On Feb 27th we got an RFE asking for additional proof of bonefide marriage. We had submitted a ton of documents and pictures with the original package, so we were a little deflated knowing that we were not going to quite be an open and shut case. Luckily, they are only asking for proof of marriage since the wedding to now. We got a utility in her name, and we opened a bank account together. Not that getting pregnant is any end-all proof, but my wife is currently pregnant so we're adding photos of us at the sonogram and with our doctor. Fingers crossed that once we submit that next week we can proceed to the (imo) inevitable interview sooner than later.
  4. I should have been more patient, but we were excited. The SS card came with today's mail, but no EAD card yet.
  5. We went to our biometrics appointment on 2/1 and have been checking the online portal weekly since but there have been no 'case status' updates. I check our USPS informed delivery email this morning and to our surprise we have two letters coming, one from NBC and the other from Social Security Administration. I check the online portal again and in the documents tab there was a correspondence sent out on our I-765 which is our approval letter. Moral of the story here I guess is to check the documents tab even if the case status doesn't change, there may be an important update posted there and the 'case status' and 'my progress' could just be stuck. Seems like others are echoing similar complaints about the updates. Does anyone know if we can file our taxes with this EAD card that's coming? Or do we need the SS card? How long until a SS card comes in the mail?
  6. My wife and I submitted our AOS package with I-130, I-131, I-485, I-693 (medical), I-765, I-867 about a week and a half ago. 12/28 Mailed marriage-based AOS package to Dallas lockbox via USPS. 12/29 USCIS received packagethe next day. (We're not too far from Dallas) 1/4 Received text message with case numbers for I-130, I-131, I-485, I-765. 1/8 Received I-797 physical receipt for the I-130 today. Letter came from the NBC in Missouri. We're really hoping that we did everything right and things go smoothly. So far everything has.
