  1. Hi!

I am curious as to how other recent approvals are doing at NVC. I would love to hear whether you have been able to send in the Choice of Agent or pay the AOS fee bill.

Our I-130 and I-129F petitions were approved on September 20. The I-130 arrived at NVC on September 26 and the I-129F arrived in Italy on December 1. We are going to schedule the K-3 interview and hope that our info for the CR-1 catches up so that my husband can enter with a green card.

I would love to hear about what progress others are making at NVC!

  2. I just wanted to let everyone know that there are signs of life at VSC. Earlier this week I had very much given up hope that we would be approved by the end of the year. I couldn't believe it when received two emails from CRIS this morning regarding the approvals (the USCIS website was also updated). I have been in touch with my Congressman's office over the past few months and they called once again this week to get an update. I don't know if that is what finally got us approved but I'm glad I kept bugging them. Best of luck to those still waiting!

  3. I searched these forums and couldn't find one instance of anyone being turned back at the border except for a few Canadians that visited a lot and I think they were driving over the border.

I wouldn't let Kim or Sunnybear read that, D&J!!!

Although now that their respective waits are almost over, I guess they can look back on it and smile.

I did not come across KimandRuss' experience when I was searching for accounts of people being turned away. Sunnybear post happened after my honey arrived so I didn't see that one either. Thanks for pointing them out. This process is so ridiculous but I'm so happy for these two couples that their waits are almost over! We are lucky to have this forum to share our experiences with each other and have something to base our decisions on. From reading the two accounts it seems two things can be learned: the more visits you make the more likely you are to be turned away, and that it is important to bring evidence of whatever ties (might have to get creative) you have to your country - just in case.

When my husband came to visit I was prepared for the possibility that I would be going back home that night without him. I was a nervous wreck until I saw him walk out of those doors at the airport!

I truly hope we all be united with our loved ones soon!

  4. David,

My husband visited me for nearly a month this summer and didn't have any problems. He is from Italy so he just came on the VWP.

The POE was Newark and the customs officer was surprisingly nice. Before getting married, my husband visited the U.S. often and always complained about how rude the customs officers were.

My husband told the officer right away that he was here to visit his wife. They chatted about Italy and my husband explained that during August, work was slow so he decided to come visit. The officer asked my husband if he knew that we could apply for a visa since we were married. My husband replied that we had applied many months before but it was taking a long time. That was about it.

My husband brought all kinds of evidence of ties to Italy including titles to land and equipment, a copy of my airline ticket for my next visit to Italy, bank statements, business cards, e-mail correspondence showing upcoming appointments, etc. He didn't have to show any of this.

We recognized that we were risking the price of the plane ticket but decided it was worth it since this process has ended up taking longer than we expected. I have heard that there are U.S. POEs in Dublin and Shannon so you can pass through customs before you fly across the ocean. Since your spouse is from the UK, it might be something to consider (search the forums for more info). I searched these forums and couldn't find one instance of anyone being turned back at the border except for a few Canadians that visited a lot and I think they were driving over the border.

    Best of luck!

  5. good thread....I'll certainly get the spreadsheet updated ASAP:

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p-9...Rqfdg&gid=3

going by NOA1 dates, Feb. has been completed with NOA2's.

There have been some received for March and few in April and 1 in May.

    Again, going by NOA1 dates,

    there are 13 for March,

6 for April and 12 for May yet needing their NOA2's

Lets see what changes this week.

Great spreadsheet! Could I get added? Thanks!

  6. Hi March Filers!

I had a little down time today and started looking into the K-3 visa. I decided to write here in our thread because we are all at the same stage in this process and I haven't found a great thread elsewhere with sufficient answers or maybe I just couldn't find it.

I saw that Gracey has filed an I-129F and I'm wondering what everyone else is planning on doing. Its my understanding that the K-3 can go a lot faster (especially at NVC) and that my husband can travel between the U.S. and Italy on it while the I-130 is still pending (or we can apply for Adjustment of Status here). I called USCIS and the woman I spoke to strongly suggested I apply for it because at this stage it doesn't cost any extra and because it was going to take "234 days to adjudicate the I-130" (thats not counting the NVC and Italy part)!!!. I'm thinking its worth a try so that my husband can at least visit me here! My vacation time, holidays, and personal days can only be stretched so far for trips to visit him!

For those of you that have filed or are planning to file the I-129F, what are you sending with it? The person from USCIS said I only need to send the I-129F, a copy of the NOA1 (as evidence of the I-130), and a copy of my marriage certificate. She said that the G-325A didn't need to be sent again because it had already been sent with the I-130. This is all in contrast to what the VJ guide says: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k3guide. I wish the guides included WHY certain things should be sent when USCIS instructions indicate otherwise: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-129Finstr.pdf (only documents from Items 1,2 and 4 are required). I verified this requirement with USCIS (not that they actually know anything).

I would love to hear what everyone thinks!

  7. Aaargh, should I start worrying? The check hasn't cleared yet as of today.

    Leah

I wouldn't worry yet but I understand how much we all want to see some kind of progress! Its so hard being away from the ones that we love!

My NOA-1 was marked March 20 but my check didn't clear until March 22. I'm not sure when my NOA-1 was delivered because I was away. So it took them nine days from the date they received my package (March 13) until they cashed my check (March 22). I think it also depends on your particular bank in regards to how quickly checks clear. I know when I was using a little local bank, processing times took longer than the large national bank that I use now (or maybe it just took longer to get on their website). Don't worry - your check will clear soon!
