    you should have an expiration date for the K1
    you can write to embassy and ask for the time to be extended if u r not going for the March interview date
    OR some embassy's will allow the interview and wait for medical exam to decide on the petition
     
    Best to ask the embassy itself
    and prepare to do CBRA for your child to get his/her US passport
