    Just to clarify, my wife entered on K1 visa, we married on May 4, moved on May 19, reported address change with AR-11, and now are finishing our paperwork for AOS and submitting soon. We HAVE NOT sent AOS packet in yet.

    Maybe I wasn’t clear in my post. We have not filed AOS yet. You may have answered my question though. No need to file I-865 until we file AOS? Was just worried I (sponsor) was supposed to notify of a change of address as well even though we filed AR-11 for my wife. I will fill out my timeline.

    Hello all! Could not find this addressed and my (sponsor) brain is fried from filing paperwork all day. I'm currently in the process of completing my I-864 form for my wife's Green Card. We have filed form AR-11 since moving last month but now I am concerned that I should have filed form I-865 as well. Since I have not filed for I-864 before is it necessary for me to file form I-865? Once we do file form I-864 should I also file form I-865 since our address now is different from all the paperwork we have filed previously? All of our paperwork for the AOS is our current address.     So no need to have SS card in hand before filing marriage license? Thanks for the help!

    We either way are going to go to get her SSN first before getting married, I just wondered if applying for our marriage license before doing so could mess up the process at all. We just have a very short timeline before we have to travel to the western US where I work. So it only leaves us 10ish days (maybe can push it a little) to file for SSN, marry, then back to SSA office for name change. Just trying to expedite process by hopefully getting marriage license ready before we even arrive to the US. Wasn’t supposed to be this rushed but my date for my job changed.

    Sorry if this has been asked 100 times, just confirming that I’m doing this process correctly. My fiancé and I are entering the US soon and are marrying within the week we arrive. Wahoo! I’m just concerned that filing for our marriage license before obtaining her SSN will cause a problem down the road? The plan is to go to the SSA office on April 30 or May 1 and then get married on May 4. Should we wait until we get to the US, go to the SSA office, then file for our marriage license? Or could I get a quick start on the process and just go ahead and apply for our marriage license now? thanks in advance!
