  1. Okay, will do! Will my husband need to bring the old one that was uploaded and approved as well? Also, would my husband need to let the consular officer know his upgraded job title? Thanks so much!
  2. Hi guys! I am the petitioner and my husband and I are almost to the end of our journey, we have been DQ on July 14th and are awaiting our interview letter. Just yesterday, I got a promotion at work. Same company, same job but with an upgraded title and will be getting a bigger salary. Does my husband need to take a brand new and updated/signed affidavit of support to the interview? Or should he just take along the affidavit of support we submitted along with a new letter from my work stating my new title and pay? My husband also got a promotion with an upgraded title at his job as well - since he is the beneficiary, does he need to inform the consular officer at the interview or does that not matter much to them? All our documents were approved and I already qualified as a sponsor based on my income and work history so the salary is not an issue, just wanted to make sure we have everything straight and didn’t want there to be any issues. Thank you in advance!
  3. Hi! It is not automatically updated on the birth certificate - we updated my husband’s birth certificate after we got married in Tunisia by simply walking into the office where they issue birth certificates (sorry, I don’t know what the name of this office was, but it was in La Marsa) and getting them to update it. No hassle, took less than 20 minutes. All they needed was our marriage certificate. I would imagine if it’s not in Arabic or French it may need to be translated though for them.
  4. thank you all SO very much for the reassurance and helpful advice!
  5. Thank you so much for the reassurance! Yes, I’ve also seen Tunis is super quick to schedule interviews! It’s a huge blessing. I didn’t know if it would be advisable to enter the US though with only a few weeks left (he doesn’t need 6 months to enter even with the visa?)
  6. Is this allowed? That’s a giant relief! My husband also wasn’t sure if they’ll give him back his old passport, will that be an issue as long as he brings the updated one?
  7. Thank you ❤️ unfortunately he said he can’t do that in Tunisia, but we’re going to try different places.
  8. Hey guys! So our I-130 has been approved and we are in the process of getting all documents together to submit on the CEAC portal as well as complete the ds-260. My husband, the beneficiary is a Tunisian national who lives in Tunisia and I’m here in the USA. His passport expires in early December of this year. He attempted to renew it back in April but he was told that it was “too far away” from expiration for them to renew it. We waited, and our I-130 was approved in late April. my husband began the process of renewing his passport closer to 6 months before it expires. They kept his passport and finally after going back and forth, being told “it’ll be ready by tomorrow” “oh the one lady who handles this is out sick today, come back tomorrow” “oh it’s not ready today, come back tomorrow” (you get the idea) they told his aunt today who went to pick it up that they can’t renew it until it’s expired. How does that even make any logical sense?! You can’t even travel most places in the world without having a minimum of 6 months on the passport. It also states on the ds260 to give a passport number of a passport that will be used to enter the US with. So we can’t even fill the ds260 until we get this new passport. My husband and I are frustrated and devastated… Does anyone have any advice?
  9. Hi guys! We are at the NVC stage after our I-130 was approved and I have a few questions. 1) I am the petitioner and I filed the I-130 in my maiden name because I wasn’t sure when I’d change it, I ended up going with legally changing it after filing (it was approved with no issues or RFEs). My passport is still in my maiden name since it’s going to expire next year and I plan to renew it soon, however all my work information and everything else is in my married name. I should start using my married name now when filing the AOS and when my husband fills out the ds260 correct? There is no option for “previous names” used on the affidavit of support so I just wanted to make sure. 2) I have six months of paystubs ready to upload, should I compile all of these in one pdf or upload them individually?
  10. We already submitted it back in February 2024 with the city and country of her last residence, so I don’t need to send any information to USCIS to update it?
  11. Hi there! I submitted my I-130 back in February 2024, I was reading up about information about how you should write “deceased” in the option on the I-130A for the beneficiary’s parents place of residence if one or both of the parents has passed away. I didn’t really think about it at that time and assumed they wanted the place of last residence, which I did put down. My husbands mother passed away back in 2014. Is this going to cause any issue and I need to correct it, and if so how can I do that? Or, is it okay to update it when we fill out the ds-160? Thank you. 🙏🏻
  12. Thank you sir! I saw this but wasn’t sure how accurate it was compared to the reality, as I know delays can happen etc I’ll wait the 6-8 weeks and check since I just am getting a small refund.
  13. Hi there, we’re paper filing this year and I know the process is longer by paper - how long does it take for a tax transcript to be available online after filing by paper? We’re still in the I-130 stage but getting close as we filed February 2024, I’m worried if it will take months and months, since I know we will need the recent tax transcripts soon. Thanks in advance!
  14. Thank you for your response! We filed married filing separately since I have read the process of obtaining a ITIN can be a bit arduous. But I will definitely look into that! Red flags you mentioned is not an issue. We did submit boarding passes of our three trips together in the last two years and plenty of photos together and photos with family too and of our wedding. And have an upcoming trip planned for summer
  15. Thank you! Can you explain what you mean by the last part? I am familiar with the affidavit of support but just wondering what the connection is with that?
  16. Hi there! I have a bit of a small question that I haven't read about before so I just wanted to check with anyone here. I'm the USC and my spouse (Tunisian) was able to add me to his health insurances at his work, in case anything major were to happen while we are waiting for the approval since healthcare is good there and not as expensive as the US. He also listed me as the beneficiary of the payments from his work in case of his death, etc. I uploaded this evidence with a certified translation - I think I'm overthinking it but I just wanted to know if it matters that I included this since it's not US based insurance stuff, I know they generally want evidence of US based things, but we don't have that since we live in different countries and he needs SSN to be added on most everything here. (We also uploaded one year of call logs, some screenshots of our convos and shows one of the gold necklaces he bought for me, wedding photos, trip photos and all our boarding passes along with this). Thanks in advance for anyone who can reassure me or advise me if this is all good.
  17. Hey there! We filed on February 10, I also noticed that a myprogress tab has appeared on ours too with an estimate of 2 months as well. I do also think these are not very accurate since I've seen others who posted that they change often and don't follow the estimate. How I wish 2 months was true!
  18. Yes, married filing separately. In order to file jointly you need to obtain an ITIN number for your spouse and submit a lot of documentation which can be rather cumbersome. It's better to file MFS now and then once your spouse gets a SSN, you can amend your taxes and file MFJ. That's what we plan to do!
  19. In the state of Tennessee you can opt to change your maiden name to your middle name when you apply for a new social security card using your certified marriage certificate as proof, I also didn’t know about it either until recently my married coworkers told me they did this - I never heard of anyone in my home state (Maryland) doing this, so I’m not sure if the requirements vary from state to state .
  20. Thank you so much for your input! I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get the ball rolling in changing my name since I didn’t list it on the I-130. I guess it’s much easier since I’m the US citizen so they can look into my social security number and see my current and previous names too.
  21. This is what I used to file my taxes too. TaxSlayer and TurboTax would not allow me to bypass the SSN and e-file. Had 0 issues with H&R Block
  22. I filed mine as married filing separately and plan to amend mine as married filing jointly once my husband gets a SSN. Head of household would depend on your situation if you have dependents or not. The only way that you can’t file taxes is as single if you’re married.
  23. Ohhh okay thank you! I was just worried since I didn’t list it on the I-130. So when I fill out the affidavit of support etc i should just put my new name and middle name down?
  24. Hi guys! My husband (beneficiary) and I (US citizen)have just recently filed our I-130. I kept my last name as my maiden name on the I-130 as I have not officially changed it anywhere due to tax season being close after our marriage and didn’t want any issues with any of our documents not matching… since as you know, it’s a process to change everything I wanted to know if it would be okay to change my last name officially everywhere since I’ve already submitted the I-130, or is it more advisable to wait until the whole process is over with? I also planned to change my middle name to my maiden name too, if that matters (you can do it here in my state after marriage). Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!
