  1. so, me and my mom went through all this paperwork for her to get here. it did supose to be easy process after we turned her docs in at the customs they schould have mailed it to INS which should have sent us her greencard. My mom did recieve her SSN, so we know the customs did mail the paperwork. unfortinatly INS now cant locate it. My congressman's office helped me research it, but still no luck. INS clams that they never recieved it. my mom has A number and she is permanent resident. not we have to do " lost visa procedure" so they can collect all that they need to print her green card. last time i went to INS they told me that i need to deal with customs and didnt even wanted to talk to me. so, i hope this time since nobody can find it they actually will be more helpful.... i am sooo frustrated!!!! the only good this is i have copies of everything....

  2. No problem Denis,

I have a very good link to this site posting on my home computer and i will post it here for you when i get home. First step is of course is waiting for INS aproval, but everything about NVC is in there. i will try to post it today, but i do work late since i have to go to Russia for a week so i dont know when i will get to it. But i for sure will post it here after i get back on the 24th. About I-130 everything you need to know is in the instructions. Good luck!

    Lena

    Thank you Lena!

It is a new animal for me now but it got more clearer, do you know where I can get step by step process outline?

    Thank you again,

    denis

  3. Hi guys I am about to get my citezenship  and I want to bring my parents to US. can you help me to get links suggestions and anything which could help me to be informed about the process. I have read I-130 explaination but I would like to know more details.

    Thanks for your help

Congrads on your citezenship!!! My mom just got her visa and i am leaving in 1 week to pack her bags.

The instructions for I-130 explain everything you need to know very well. You have to file I-130 for each parent - so you will need 2 of them. It will be about 6 month for INS to aproove it. I dont think you can change the prosesing time in INS, but once your case gets to NVC you can do sertan things to make things quicker.

First of all have your parents apoint you as an agent in DS-3032. My mom email them insted of mailing it it and this form got into the sustem 2 weeks earlier then it would if she would mail it. You have to comlplite paperwork step by step and they dont let you do all in the same time. You have to mail them one thing for you to get to the next. SO, research it well and know what is the next step to come. You are being an agent for your parents will save you time on Immigrant Visa fee bill that will be sent to you not to your parents - you can pay it here and mail it back quick. Make sure get all of the things you need for I-864( read instructions). Fill out and mail your parents 2 DS-230s for them to sign and mail back to you way before you need it. It would be easier for you to fill out the info since your parents probably not very good in english.( last step at NVC) Read instructions!!! Make your parents get second original birth, marriage, death sertificate from ZAKS( for all of the marrieges they ever had). NVC will ask for the original not a notorised copies...Dont forget about police sertificates! Also, make them translate and notorize everything they mail to you. So, they will have to mail original + notorized and translated copies. SO, if you will get all of these things before NVC ask for it you will not have to waist your time and wait for them when you need them. I think this is it. if you have question down the road - please feel free to ask. i had people helping me when i was doing it and it did make the difference. Good luck!!!

    Lena

  4. How long did it take you to bring your mother here?
My mom passed her interview on the 29th and her visa got to her house today early morning!   i am soooo happy! :luv: now she is starting to pack her things and mail some of the stuff here so she doesnt have to take it with her. i just wanted to share a great news!!!! :D

Thank you for help and support everybody!!!!

it took me 1 year. i filed I-130 on July 16 and she just got her visa

  5. Hello there!!

I'm so glad I found you guys. I'm preparing all required documents myself and I really need some help.

I'm an american and my russian wife just became naturalized about a year ago. We want to bring both of her parents over.

Here is the list of docs I believe I need to do this:

I-130 (filled out by my wife, the sponsor, for each parent). Total of 2

I-864 (filled out by my wife, the sponsor, for each parent) Total of 2

I-864A (filled out by me, the cosponsor, for each parent) Total of 2

In section 13, second line where it asks you to (indicate number), what number are they asking for???

Also, do we sign all of these forms or do some of them have to be notarized before signing.

Copies of tax returns from the last three years and W-2's. We filled jointly, so when I-864 asks for her income, do I have to split it up and figure our separate individual income again??

Proof of citizenship, for both of us

Proof of family relationship (My wife's birth certificate should suffice?)

    Fees for each I-130

    Employment letter

Is there anything I'm missing?? Do I send all documents together?

I really appreciate any help you could offer. Or if you could direct me to a post where I can find all the info I need.

    Thanks in advance.

I am almost finished with this process. i am brining my mom to live here with me. First you have to file I-130 with USCIS and rest of the paperwork will have to be filed with NVC( national Visa Center). It took USCIS about 6 month to aproove my I-130 and then they sent it out to NVC who asked for the rest of the docs.

Here is link to instructions to I-130. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-130instr.pdf They are very easy to fallow. But remember that for mother and father there is a diff in the docs you need to send to proove the relationship. You dont have to file I-864 or any tax returns or W2s till you get to NVC stage.

One your paparwork is at NVC it will be useful for you to read this link:

    http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Jame%27s_Shortcut

You can look at my signature you figure out when and about how long things will change. One thing i can sudgest is pick yourself as an agent for paperwork with NVC - it is quicker and easier since everything they going to send is in english. Have your parents send you everything before you will even need it. it will cut on time of your aplication. you can read more about it in the link above. i had to send NVC ORIGINALS of my birth sertificate, my mariage sertificate, my moms birth sertificate, my mom's marige sertificate, my dad's death sertificate, palice sertificate. they do request originals and will not take notorized copies, so i would sudgest your parents going not and geting second originals from apropriate place where they live. My mom took a copy of her stuff and told they she lost the originals - that is the only way she could get second originals... you can fill out DS-230 for them and send it to them to sign or just have them download it and sign it and send it back to you. i hope it helped and i didnt confuse you....

Good luck and i hope it will go quick for you!

  6. I filed papers for my mom to imigrate to US 1 year ago and now her interview is coming up. I know when you file for a fiance/wife or husband they ask questions to make sure this is real relationship and people not just cheating the sustem. but what kind of question will they ask my mom at the embasy since our relationship is existed since the day i was born... LOL  i just wounder what do they ask when they interview parents who is imigrating to US. Please, let me know is you know the answer! :bonk:

  7. I was talking to a friend this morning and he told me that one of our friends had gotten an email from his fiance telling him she wished not to leave Russia and hopes he can find his happiness with another Russian girl....she was to have her interview in Moscow in about two weeks.

She gave him no reasons or excuses in her email and will not talk to him on the phone.

I called him this morning and he said on his last trip to her a few weeks ago that she was excited about getting her interview. He said he saw nothing during his visit that would indicate that something was wrong. He's a great guy and has no financially problems.

He was upset and said he had no idea what her thinking was and was just going to do a wait and see thing with her and see if she changes her mind and does the interview.

I think I would see if she was just having cold feet and if I was not sure about that then I would run in the opposite direction real fast like.

I'll update as he tells me more.

Whew, I know his heart is hurting not to mention the amount of money and frustrations doing this process.

    bruc

Maybe she had an old boyfiend who she went back to. I have a girlfriend who it happened to. But in her case she came here and lived here for 6 month. They got married and then one of these days her ex boyfriend called her new home and she left her new american hubby to be with him. Sad, but true. One thing i tell you - if it happens maybe it was not real LOVE and that man is better off? and if something like that happens - better now then after she gets here! :(

Or of course, maybe she dont want to live her family. It is hard to live people you love - talking from expirience.

Anyway, if it is just cold fee and she loves him - it will all work out in the end. and if not - this relationship is not ment to be.

  8. Thank you for your replies!

Pavlovna7, I will certainly let you know if I have any questions and difficulties with bringing my mom here (I need to get the us citizenship first (this year)) and then file for my mom's residency.

You were absolutely right about wondering and worring where your mom is and how she is there is Russia! It kills me! She needs to stay at work till the mid of next year anyway and then she will just come and stay with us for some time and come back to Russia antil we get the permanent residency for her here. I'm just really worried about the health case here because our moms and dads go to the doctors more often the older they are and I know the health insurance is VERY EXPENSIVE in the USA! I'm added to my hubby's and have to figure out something for my mom!

Do you live in a big city? Does your mom feel good about moving with you and living her country? Will she be getting her retirement in the USA?

    Annabelle,

I live in a farly small city - Modesto. I have a good insurance through the company i work for. But of course, we cant add our mom's to our insurance. :( but again think that so many people come in thier age and still somehow come up with the salution to this problem. And to be honest russian health insurance sucks!!!! Onece i will know how we will go about my mom with this question i will let you know ok? Congrads on your coming citizenship!!!

My mom is afraid of course - it is hard to move here. He is 56 and use to be independent and here she will depend on me. And i am getting married in 3 weeks, so she is afraid that she will get in the way.... :P i told her that it is not going to be the situation. But now when she is just a couple short month away from coming here she getting very happy and starts planing the future here. It is very nice v=because before she wouldnt even want to talk about it. She is going to transfer her russian retirement to USA, but it is going to be just $200 or so - not enaugh for anything. She cant recieve american retirememnt since she never worked here.....

I hope i answered on all of your questions.

  9. I want to bring my mom to the USA soon and I'm wondering about the health care and coverage for her as a permanent resident. Anybody has been there done that?

    Annabelle,

My mom is coming here to live with me in a couple of month. Her interview is in the end of June. It took me 1 year from the begining to her interview date. Let me know if you will have questions about the process - it was very confusing at times for me.

As for health insurance, here is the answer i got from one of the members here who brought his mother as well: "Regarding health insurance, we just got the mother-in-law approved for Medicaid, despite the fact there is an affidavit of support in effect on her behalf. Public health insurance is not considered a public charge under federal policy because it is not cash assistance (see USCIS Quick Guide to Public Charge). Furthermore, at least in my state (NY), the state courts ruled in 2001 that it was unconstitutional under the state constitution to deny new immigrants health insurance benefits as the federal government does for the first 5 years after admission under the PRWORA-Welfare Reform law passed in 1996 (also, state decisions like this one often become precedent decisions considered by other states under their laws and state constitutions, so a similar ruling may have happened in your state too). Finally, NY currently has a policy of no sponsor-deeming when considering eligibility for health insurance benefits to immigrants, nor will it seek reimbursement from sponsors for such benefits provided; therefore our income and resources were not considered part of her household even though she is living with us under the sponsorship contract. Consequently, NY state basically must provide health benefits such as Medicaid for new immigrant residents who are otherwise eligible using entirely state funds until the 5-year ban on federal funding is satisfied, at which point the costs will are shared between the two governments as usual. (see NY Health Dept's memo on Citizenship and Alien Status Requirements for the Medicaid)" I live in CA and didnt check the law about it in my state.

But again if your mother lives by herself to me it worth it to bring her here and not to worry about what is going on and why she doesnt pick up her cell... did somethng happen or she just a sleep?... i am sure you know what i am talking about.

  10. :help: my mom's interview in 6 weeks. we have been talking about what she should take with her when she moves here. The pictures ans family stuff are already on the list. is anybody who is here wishes they brought things over that they left home??? :)

Please, give me some ideas. it is hard to leave all of your life( 55 years) and move here. But we cant take everything. What is must have for older lady who moving to US. i know it is a strange question. but i am sure i am not the only one..

    Thank you!!!

  12. I called today and found out that NVC was done with everything it had to do and my moms case was sent to Moscow Russia on June 2. The case was complited on May 15, so it took them 2 weeks to do their thing.

My only question is did they schadule the interview already?? Because the automated system just said the case was sent to Russia and nothing about interview. :( And from my understading they should have schaduled the interview before they send it to russia. does anybody know anything about this process??? :help:

    Thank you!!! :)

  13. so, i ordered another notorazed and translated copy that going to be overnighted to me today. so, one i get it im going to mail it in.

SO, before sending your DS-230 in make sure you dont need to mail your birth sertificate as well... :bonk:

the notorized and translated copy is not enough, i mean u have to sent the ORIGINAL or dublicate (the dublicate is what they called " certified copy from an appropriate authority (the issuing entity). " In russia ZAGS dont give copy, it gives ÏÎÂÒÎÐÍÎÅ ñâ-âî î ðîæäåíèè (dublicate).

    Document Requirements

The applicant and each family member who will accompany the applicant to the United States will need to submit the following original documents or certified copies of the documents listed in this section from an appropriate authority (the issuing entity). In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents.

it is real, NVC asking for original BC,PC and DS-230 part 1 and Part it is new request from NVC, it is wrong

it is sucks i had to send them the original! i live in america and it is hard to get second original not living the country. so, i just sent them the only original i had here with me.
