  1. My passport is in my maiden name as well. WAAAAAAAAAYYYY back when we started this, it was going to take 8 months for me to get a new passport with my married name, so we just went ahead and used the one with my maiden name.

Its no biggie really. I was just curious if I could ask them or not.

never hurts to ask.....but i do know that your Visa is issued in the name on your passport, and your GC is issued with the name on your Visa... but on the bright sie...you get a 10 year and you get to file for Citizenship long before me!!!

  2. not gonna even ASK why your Visa is in your maiden name when you were granted a IR-1! (wht name is your passport in???) As far as I know..you may have to apply for a legal name change...bbbuuuttt...if you have your marrriage licence and all your other documents..they might issue your SSN in your marrie name...but I have a feeling your GC will be in your maiden name as it is the name on your Visa.... Have no idea if you can change that...??

  3. and knowing you once you are through you will accost a random stranger and shove your camera in their face DEMANDING they take your picture to commemorate getting through that G-Damn POE!!!!!!

It's one of the conditions of my release." That's a pretty handy conversation stopper.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<img src="http://www.visajourney.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laughing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laughing.gif" /> That's great!! Its like whenever one of those Jehovah Witness people come knocking on the door... I just say I'm Jewish and they leave me alone.

I ASK THEM FOR THEIR ADDRESS FIRST!!!! IN CASE I WANT TO GO BANG ON THEIR FRONT DOOR ONE AFTERNOON!!!!!!!!!

  5. Great news Coralie!!! I am sorry I was not online this morning...your message flashed on my screen and I screamed in excitment!!!

    Tangie

  6. Coralie.....sorry my reponse is so long in coming....lol..

Ever since I met you in Vancouver at the medical..and we hoofed it all over looking for places for passport photos, and trying to find the 'right' White Spot...wehave kept in pretty close contact..even if it is just VJ and MSN. And there is one thing that I have learned about you....YOU ARE THE STRONGEST, MOST DETERMINED YOUNG WOMAN I HAVE EVER MET! I know how hard this is for you and unlike a lot of us, you have so many more 'hiccups' in your journey and stupid detours and 'do not enter' signs to navigate on your journey...I seriously would have crawled into a hole and given up. But you.....it is like every new speed bump they throw at you, you take a few moments to do the thrashing and wailing thing, and then WATCH OUT!! You throw on your helmet and you ram head first into it with so much determination and a '#### you' attitude that simply astonishes me!!

You will get through this and you will be the person who comes back on VJ years later with wisdom and advice and a calming manner that will endear you to all the newbies on the board!!! Your Podunk hubby is lucky to have found you!! And I am blessed to have you as a 'fellow dumb immigrant' (inside joke folks!!!)

That is all I have to say!! Love ya Girlie!!!!

  7. SEE!!! Im onto something here... I can see it now:

TONIGHT on AC360 Tobacco companies and Immigration... the Expose! With me I have intending immigrant Coralie... (Camera pans to me, whilst Im holding 10 lit smokes in one hand.. and a kleenex in the other).

and squirming in your seat because if we know you.....we know that you have the supah-hots for Anderson......damn...that would be a great interview to watch!!! He is asking you questions and you are fantasizing and flustered, using those Kleenex to wipe away the DROOL instead of the tears!!!! hahahahahahahaha

  8. Well y'all (this is just me getting used to the Texan lingo, lol) have had enough! I think it is a very smart and a brave move on his part! I mean you are following the legal procedures, you should not have to go through this?

And believe you me, if Anderson Cooper gets on this, the folks at Montreal might come over to your place and give you your passport with the visa in it!

If Anderson Cooper gets involved...Coralie will be the drooliing red-head being pried off his leg as he tries to leave!!!

  9. Lol I found this, I am sure you overlooked my previous message since I posted them back to back, so here you go!

    Montreal Consulate:

    Fax: 514.398.0973 NEW FAX # 514-398-9748

I found these numbers from the Embassy/Consulate info from VJ!

    :D

However, its not from the "CHOSEN ONE", its from the embassy/consulate info page on VJ!

oh I am getting a 'feeling' about this one!!!!!

  10. LOL... dear podunk.. it has nowhere NEAR 200K people... try 8k on for size.. (And supposedly thats pushing it, I think theyre counting the ghosts as well).

12k if you count all the multiple-personalities!!!

  11. No... just the usual BS. Now my congressmans aid said she wont inquire again until April 30th...arg. So I called the senators office, and they said they wont help because we already have the congressmen involved (political etiquette or something).

I secretly think theyre trying to save me from having to move to Podunk.

ARE YOU SAYIN THAT PODUNK AIN'T READY FOR YOU SWEETHEART??????

  12. We checked our Consular records and found that the immigrant visa application is currently undergoing administrative processing in order to verify the applicant’s qualifications for this visa

Can someone clarify this?? I thought the applicant was the USC and the beneficiary was the immigrant??

Coralie...this whole thing is so frusterating...I can only imagine what you are dealing with......You are in our prayers for a quick resolve to this...you and your daughter deserve to be reunited......

  13. Why, I wonder over and over again, is it so common among foreigners to change their name when they get married? I do understand the historical context, when a father gave away his child to another man, together with a few sheep or cows and with it all resposibility for her and transferred it to the husband. But in 2010?

Don't immigrants realize that it is perfectly okay to keep their name and identity and would, especially in case of an immigrant who has to deal with USCIS and travel, and later perhaps dual citizenship, give them a lot less to worry about?

:wow: I am CANADIAN..and yes..I am an IMMIGRANT, and apparently a foreigner as well!! And I changed my name when I married...just like I changed my name the first time i got married...

Sometimes I wonder from reading your posts if you are slightly socially inept??....or just rude???
