  1. One of Two things happened. Either we just finally made it through attrition, or all of the letters that we sent to our Senators and District Representatives finally paid off. I personally think the letters paid off. Anyways, It feels so good not to be under their thumbs.

Thanks to all who were patient while we waited through this ordeal. It was a very trying 3+ years!

REMEMBER...... If you haven't waited at least 1 year, then your whining just pisses the rest of us off. Get in line, Their are a lot of folks in front of you!

  2. 37 months and 14 days since we filed for our I-485. Namecheck has been pending since 10-08-2004.

I have done every inquiry possible except for the "Writ of Mandamus" which is now useless because of the new law allowing USCIS and FBI to ignore it.

2 senators and 1 congressman all tell me the same thing, "It is out of their control"

I even wrote a letter to GWB, but never got a reply.

I am flabberghasted and sickened by our immigration policies. I know firsthand that they are complete failures. It is almost like being in a 3rd world jail without any representation. All we can do is bide our time and wait!

Also venting, but it never feels good,

  3. Hi all, I have been in touch with one of my senators about my wifes AOS being stalled at the FBI. So today I went one step further and sent E-mails to our other Senator and 6 House of Representatives.

I also sent one to President Bush himself....LOL!

On 7-12-2007, It will be 3 years since we filed for AOS for my wife. I have run out of adjectives to describe my consternation with this whole damn process!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Yes, It was my 1st thought also. I mean MY GOD!!!!You filed 3-07 and got approved 4 months later. That is a disgrace for the USCIS and FBI.

I filed on 7-12-2004 and am still stuck in Namecheck. That is 6 days shy of 3 freaking years.

I try to hold back my emotions when someone wants to celebrate their lonnnnng wait (4 months), but it is so hard.

I am happy for all, but trust me. 4 months is a mere drop in the bucket.

Congratulations to you, Maybe one day soon, I'll know that feeling.

  5. To me....The absolute worst thing about all of this is....... I cannot hold anybody accountable. There is nowhere for me to go and ask WHY? No-one at all can touch the FBI. USCIS claims that it is not out of the ordinary for my file to be stagnant for almost 3 years. I mean GEEESH! Somebody special needs to take my file in their hand and start asking questions as to why it is in limbo.

The fees are getting so rediculous! They ought to "Grandfather" clause all who are in limbo so they only have to pay what the fee was when they started.

I am soooooooo tired of it.

  6. I appreciate the advice, k3 cant apply for SSN (we tried) only k1. I feel like we are stuck in a hole and cannot accomplish anything. I think I will try to open an account at Bank of America. I just want something that has both our names on it.

Thanks again Karen and Otto, at least there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

i have been trying to get my husband added to my bank account, checking account and utility bills and I keep being told that I cant cuz he not have a SSN yet or TIN#( i hope that abbreviation is right). What if we have our AOS interview before he gets this TIN#? Immigration wants this supporting evidence but how can I get him added to my accounts when he does not have his TIN#?

    72maureen,

I am sorry, But, This statement is not true. My wife is here on a K3 visa, we filed for her and sons ss# soon after they got here. Both had their ss# within 2 weeks of filing. My son needed his for school, my wife needed hers so she could file for her EAD and Drivers license. My wife has been on our Bank account almost from the start, in fact, my wife is still waiting for her greencard and she has her own Credit Card, Drivers License and bank Account.

You have to be persistent and if 1 place denies you then go somewhere else. Information is everywhere.
