Since it has changed to nonimmigrant status means the interviewing consular officer has made his/her decision and it should only be pending administrative process of assembling the file and printing the visa.

Sorry what do you mean by that? He was under DS-5535 then they called and asked him to submit his passprt. Does it mean he could possibly be denied? Or are we waiting on the visa? Or we just don't know lol

From Jerusalem to Cairo. What are the criteria of an emergency they might accept?

Hopefully she gets the response soon. Honestly the only two I know of are either a death in the family or if someone is critically ill. And I literally just learned that an hour ago from my senators office because I helped someone complete the document for her husband and she requested it to be expedited and her reason was not valid. Financial hardship

    Hi There,

I am new to this forum. My mother is facing the same issue. Her I-130 was approved early Oct.  Then for humanitarian reasons we requested a case transfer to another embassy and expedited the interview request. Fortunately, both requests were approved and she attended her interview in early December. But her case went to AP and I got an email to fill out DS-5535. We filled out and submitted the form the same day. The case has been updated a few times since the interview. My congressman's office said they could reach out after three weeks of the interview. Can DOS take into consideration humanitarian causes and expedite the AP process? The Embassy team told me there is no timeline to resolve AP but they have been responsive to me so far regarding all my requests.

    Thanks!

Hello, I know when there is an emergency they do. I'm not sure for humanitarian reasons tbh. What embassy was it transferred from and to if you don't mind me asking?

Hey any updates for anybody's case? they have been updating my case weekly but still refused, i see that a lot of people in lebanon are getting the ds5355 lately helas :(

Hello, how long has it been since you submitted the Ds5535? It's only been 10 days for us so no updates on our end but in another group I'm in on Facebook someone said they got the visa after 3 weeks.

Yes, they had traveled before. I know people who has never traveled outside Lebanon in their life and were still issued a DS-5535.

Oh wow that's crazy tbh, I guess the only thing at this point that is scaring me is how long the process could take. We know for a fact his background check is clean he has even been to USA and Canada before so they have allowed him into the country before. I just worry with the increasing tension in Lebanon this background check is going to take long.

If he has travelled to Iran, definitely.

He has not, he hasn't been to Iraq either that's what weirded me out. He has been to Syria, Turkey and Eygpt I think those countries may have triggered something. He's also been to USA and Canada so I guess it's like someone else said here it's a black box and no one really knows why.

  7. Hello Deagle, did your family member travel outside of Beirut prior to being issued the DS-5335? Mine did he is a travel Nurse and has been to about 10 countries in the Middle East, I'm just wondering if this will impact the time to get a response.

For everyone here asking about the DS-5535 for US embassy in Beirut. My family member was issued one of these. We completed and sent it back to the embassy by email. They approved their visa and issued 20 days after submitting the form to the embassy. Good luck all.

Hi, I recently transferred my husband’s case to Doha embassy from Islamabad. It took us about 3 to 4 weeks. The first 3 times NVC emailed back to us saying that they are unable to transfer our case but we kept on resubmitting the request with the same evidence and the 4th time they accepted the request and transferred it.

Hello, was your case at Islamabad when you requested the transfer from NVC? I emailed NVC and they told me that they have no control over the transfer and the embassy should request the transfer from Beirut.

  9. Hey, I seen on one of your posts that you had to transfer your case from Manila to Doha, I was wondering if you could tell me how many times you had to email them for them to reply to you and how long the transfer took? My finace originally had his case in Beirut, we are trying to transfer it to Doha as he is currently working there. I've emailed the embassy a few times but I do not want to email too many times as I am not sure of the process. I would really appreciate any assistance/advice.
