glad it's new store, .. your co workers are new also :)

Im working as customer service specialist too, but in insurance company (retiree market)

I was the new one,, at first, i was shocked how some old employees treat me, they don't even want to help me, especially the women :(

but now they are friendlier :) and helpful

  5. Did you file married with a high amount of deductions or is your income very low?

You should ask your employer why they are not taking fed taxes from your check once you fill out your W-4 employers are suppose to take out the proper deductions. Take another blank form home and have you and your husband fill it out correctly and submit new W-4 to employer.

Next year when you have worked all year you will have a big tax burden if they don't take out federal taxes.

Also as a comment to someone that does taxes married but filling seperately that only is a good thing if you have children maybe you could get a big portion of Earned Income Credit. But I would think in most cases you would get more deductions by filing married, and you could get an extra rebate stimul amount if you were married in 2008. Because your stimulus was based on your status filing in 2007 if that status changed in 2008 married or had a child you could get an additional portion. I am not a tax specialist, but work in Corp Management.

thanks for the advice, appreciate it... yah im sure I will asked for new blank w-4 from my employer, to straighten this out.

  6. "I checked married - 0 when I filled out my W-4 during my employment and I can see it in my paycheck"

Because you checked " O " it means no deductions in federal withheld tax. but if you checked " 1 " =exemption for yourself. it means there is a federal tax deductions. you got higher amount of paycheck if you check 0.

Excuse me, but what blocks on the W-4 are you referencing?

If you want MORE money withheld (get more back when you file) you put lower numbers in for your dependents. 0 means more withheld/more money back.

It is possible to tell the government do not take anything out and that you will PAY your taxes when you file but that is on line 7 "EXEMPT" and I don't think that happened here.

    Yes, filing taxes is interesting.

I work a part time job (about 10 hours a week) and to make sure that that pay doesn't screw up my taxes I ask that an additional amount be deducted each pay period. That is on Line 6 if you care to do that.

hi thanks for advice, Im thinking now to ask for another w-4 from my employer and filled out again, im not sure if it will worked, but I will try.

because I can't even remember the other lines now, we don't have dependents, and I'm sure i checked married -0 in the first page.

  7. regarding w2 tax issue this is also my first time to file seperately

this is what i have with AT&T since i just started last 11/25/08 heres what i have for my w2 breakdown:

    Wages, tips, other compensation:

    Federal Income tax withheld

    $2517.60

    Social security wages $135.09

    Social Security tax withheld 2517.60

and i have another employer which is also same month but i only stayed 1 month: wage $732 and fed tax $8, my husband is going to school no work and since sophia is not here i cant add her as my dependent...what do i need to do to get tax return ...which is cheaper hr block or jackson...?

do you think i will owe tax? :crying:

    you have 2 w-2 right?

no i don't think you owe because you have federal income tax witheld but Im not an expert, Im confused too.. :)

We used turbo tax, maybe some on here know about hr block or jackson..

  8. all the deductions of my federal tax last year, it will return back to me. bec i worked only 5 and half months. I did not meet the minimum income level requirement to pay federal tax for 2008. In my case, My husband filed my taxes as "married filing separate" so that my tax refund would be separate from his tax refund. my return has been accepted by the IRS now. I should receive my refunds in about two or three weeks because my husband filed my tax returns electronically.I think you fill up Married in your status because we file EAD together with our AOS as a k1 visa holder when we entered here.

But If you file "married filing jointly" then both of your incomes will be considered for tax liability and any refunds issued will be for a combined amount. you can choose which filing status you want to have because there is no legal requirement to file a joint return if you want to keep your income and refunds separate from your spouse.

It is expected for our first time we file our taxes we can experience problems sometimes...but dont worry....

thanks ate, I will review it, we did not submit it yet, we plan to submit it electronically.

We are filing married-joint :) yup , i included my husbands w-2 infos.

  9. Did you file married with a high amount of deductions or is your income very low?

I filed married with 0- in line 1 first page, I can't remember the other stuff. My income is not low, Im working in call center of Insurance Company (inbound) but I just started working October 2008.

OH my, so I owe them? wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :( worst...

maybe that's why my friend who worked in our office commented why my paycheck is higher than her's, but we both worked 40 hrs/week

    :crying:

  11. You did not have federal tax witheld because you did not reach the income threshold where they start witholding.

 makes me more confused :( we looked at the tax table for bi weekly pay and it is qualified for withholding.

I suggest that you examine your W-4 form to make sure that it is filled out correctly. Maybe you indicated exemption from withholding because you owed no taxes last year and expected not to owe taxes for 2008.

When i filled up my w-4 before i submit back to them, I let my husband review all the answers to make it sure bec. I'm not familiar about their taxes.

thanks for the advice and info ate :)

    enjoy ur vacation . :star:

  12. Maybe you dont fill up in the W-4 form to have federal tax withheld deduction.Bec. if you fill up w4 form withheld federal tax, it will be deducted from your paycheck. try to see your paycheck if there is a federal tax deductions.

I got my w2 form last week while im having my vacation here in Cebu until now, so i let my husband do my taxes using taxslayer online program calculated and submitted electronically. Im glad to know i have almost $ 900 for working 5 and half months only last year. I still have little amount of money to spend there when i come back. This is my consolation after working hard, overtime and sometimes weekend to finish all the works.

I did filled out that W-4, checked married - 0

  13. Hi does anybody have experienced like this..

I came here in USA via K1 visa, I got my EAD October 2008, I got a job also October 2008.

I just recently received my W-2, but I am confused, why is it I don't have federal tax withhold? only NC state income tax, medicare & social security.

I don't wanna end up paying my federal tax at the end because they are not withholding it from my paycheck.

I got approved on AOS Jan 23, and got my GC last Saturday.

Do you think, that's why I don't have federal tax because of my status? (not sure - needed info)

My income is biweekly and I earned more than minimum wage.

I checked married - 0 when I filled out my W-4 during my employment and I can see it in my paycheck

Pls help, I'm going crazy with this tax stuff :(

  14. Hi everyone,

I had my interview in January 21 and the IO said that we were approved and will receive our card in 30-45 days. I juct check my status online and it is still the same as before where it says "Received and Pending" . Does anyone of you has the same situation as mine and yet they still got your greencard?

Thanks and congratulations to all that has their greencards, good luck to those who will have interviews.

hi don't worry about the website status, sometimes they are not so fast in updating their system.

If the CO said you are approved, you don't have to worry, you will get your GC soon. :)

    ==========================

    Thanks roby n kris, ed*riza, joyce :)

  15. had our interview jan 23... in new office in Raleigh-Durham NC.

Our original sked was Jan 20, but due to the heavy snow, we did not able to come. (heavy snow-unusual for NC ;) cool for me though...

We called USCIS # and they said, we should write a letter to reschedule the interview, i called again, got the same answer, :) (just wanna make sure- sometimes I don't trust agents a lot :) eheh

    So, instead of writing and mailing it, my husband went to the local office after the snowy day, and find out that the make up day for Jan 20 interview is Jan 23,,, see? :unsure: if we mailed it, (as agent told us over the phone) probably it will not reached to the local office right away,,, and we will end up waiting for another weeks, or months for the interview. ;;

During our interview, consul officer was very nice, he just asked me 3 questions: when did we met, when we got married, what job I working now.

He is an old consul about 65 :) but very nice, just a lil bit slow in typing in the pc,.. he only asked for 3 docs as proof of our relationship: I gave joint checkings account, savings acct, and tmobile bill, he did not even looked at our album... saw him stamped approved, he asked for my ead, and gave me a paper stating that i was approved by an USCIS officer, and he explained the next step, what form etc, and said i should receive my GC in 2 weeks.

It was very nice experienced, way better than K1 interview :)
