  1. I thought it was actually some officers working there who know my parents’ uncommon language available for the interview. So, am I allowed to find an interpreter and they would be there with my parents on the interview date?
  2. No, they are not First Nation. They are immigrants in their 70s. No plan to learn English at this point.
  3. It’s not possible to have someone available to speak the language in US Consulate Montreal. Is there a way we could change the consulate to where they are originally from? Sorry if my question is stupid. We want to prepare before it’s too late. In my parents case, the I-130 form has just got approved. No further steps have been started.
  4. Hi VJ community, Is it possible for Canadian parents to be interviewed in their mother language but English nor French in Montreal Consulate? Since my parents don’t speak English nor French but they are Canadian citizens. Thank you for your help.
  5. Hello everyone, I've been searching for answers here on this forum, but unfortunately, I haven't had any success so far. I have a question regarding the process of filing taxes for both of us while the I-130 form is still in the processing stage. I am a Canadian residing in Ontario, and my husband lives in California, holding U.S. citizenship. We are both employed full-time in our respective locations and have never lived together. We are about to embark on the CR1 visa journey following our marriage certificate. It is likely that the I-130 will still be pending approval by the end of the next tax season, so we are seeking guidance on how to handle our tax returns while we are separated. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
