I'm helping my best friend on getting a new green card as he came over on a IR-2 in 1978 and has an older version of the green card. So he applied for the I-90 last week and I noticed he can apply for citizenship once he has the receipt from the I-90. This is all good and he has everything he needs for the N-400. My question is really about travel. Last year he went on a cruise and had an issue re-entering the US as his green card is so old and he didn't realize he needed a new one as it has no expiration date. Well he has another cruise booked for November this year, and I realized both the I-90 & N-400 are taking over 9 months to process. What is he to do about his green card until it's approved, Will he be able to go on his cruise in November? TIA

I had copies of my dad's (co-sponsor) W2s, 3 years of tax returns, a bank statement, and a few pay stubs. I had an original letter from his employer on letter head and also the original I-134 (both from my dad and myself). Also I had a copy of my dads birth certificate to prove he's a US citizen.
My husband was only asked for the pay stubs and they were fine with just copies.

Ha that 'Friends' episode was on last night!
-
Funny someone should bring this up, because every time I see this happen on tv, I start going off on a rant and my husband just laughs. If only it were that easy. Most my family have no clue how much work we did to have him here. My dad co-sponsored my husband, and we still live with him, and every immigration appointment we had, my dad still said "I thought he was already a citizen".
As for 'Like Crazy' def more realistic, but hated that movie so much. I waited so long for a LDR related movie and it was just so negative.

We waited a year to file AOS, and had no problems at all. It was transferred to CSC and approved without interview.

Heinz Baked Beans (Hubby can't live without them) - Wegmans
I know they have the Heinz spaghetti hoops at Wegmans as well, not sure about the sausage one, but I never looked because my husband is a vegetarian.
They also have Christmas crackers at Pier 1.

My Hubby became a Citizen today. The Oath was in Philly, there were 68 from 38 different countries. So happy we're all finished, can someone please update for me?
-
Hubby was finally rescheduled an Oath since his first one was cancelled due to the Hurricane. His Oath is November 26th at 11am in Philly. A bit annoyed as they're holding an Oath the same day here in our home town but instead we have to drive 2 hours! But either way, we're looking forward to finally being finished!

I brought a letter from my then fiance and his parents saying they'd support me if needs be. It was just in case. The thing they always liked seeing (other then return ticket) was my letter from my employer saying when I was returning to work. But I think you have plenty of proof you'll be returning.
But as for the NOA1, I showed it and the woman in immigration had no idea what it was. I tried to explain and she got annoyed with me and just said "leave in 2 weeks as you plan!" I know on my first trip, they held me for 2 hours and gave me a hard time and said to bring an itinerary next time. So I went out of my way and wrote down everything I planned to do on every other trip, never needed it but that's what they asked for.

Got everything ready! It might be a cold night but we'll make it through. Still have power but the worse winds will come in the next 2-3 hours.
-
Very glad it was postponed, as things are getting worse by the hour. The eye will be over us sometime in the night, looking likely that we'll be without power. Hope everyone stays safe!
-
Now venturing to work, 40 min drive instead of 2 hours, but it's still all calm here, the drive home might be a bit different. We're all set for the storm, water, bread, candles, flashlights... Hope everyone affected stays safe.
-
Change of plan they finally updated! The office is in fact closed along with quite a few other offices on the east coast.
-
Thank you for everyone's help. As of right now we're gonna set out around 7 to make it there by 11, but at 8am (when they open) we'll call and see if they are in fact open. I've been checking the news stations and every school is closed but nothing about government buildings. My guts saying they'll be closed, but we really don't want to miss it. We've already taken off work and put funds aside for the trip.

Just wondering what will happen if we don't go and they still hold the Oath? Though the main part of the storm won't hit until tomorrow night, if we drive there and go to Oath, we may hit the storm for our drive back. We know as of right now roads are still open.
-
So My husband is suppose to have his Oath Ceremony tomorrow morning at 11, in Philly. I just heard Philly is in a state of emergency, though the storm isn't suppose to hit until Monday evening/night. I'm not sure what to do about this, it's a 2 hour drive for us. I don't want to just miss the Oath as we waited over 2 months to get a date, but I don't know how to contact them. We'd have to leave here before they open in the morning if we wanna make it on time. Is there anything one I can contact today about this? I know USCIS is closed Sundays and the Philly site is down for maintenance.

Hubby received his Oath Ceremony today: October 29th at 11am!! Can't wait!

So after my husband's interview 2 months ago which didn't go very well. He passed the civics test easily but got an RFE for proof that we lived together, which I did send proof but they wanted more. We came home and sent it right away and been waiting since. Finally 2 months later, today we got an update saying he's been scheduled an oath ceremony. It's such a relief we're just about done!!

It used to not be an issue, but obviously things changed.. I wonder if this has anything to do with the UK immigration rules, as more people will now find it easier to move to the US then the UK. I don't think it's something to worry about just so you go prepared, before now not many people were asked for proof of relationship.

Hubby received his interview letter on friday. Interview is August 10th at 10am!!
-
After not moving for a month, Hubby's case was updated twice in 4 days, first in line and now scheduled. He's not excited like I am, maybe because I've done all the paperwork and worrying with USCIS!
-
You're looked at like a USC, and a USC can't leave the country without a US passport. Doesn't matter what other passports you have.

We had about the same, as we also live with my dad. We didn't have the health insurance or life insurance but have car insurance together. I just included a few more affidavits from friends and family and proof of same address. We didn't have any problems with it, took long but everyone's take long for ROC. As for the debit cards, we didn't even think to show them, just showed statements and proof we both use the account, checks going in and out. Looks good to me.. best of luck!!
