  1. I had touches after our bio appt. but nothing since. My positive thinking is that I'll start seeing movement on our case next week. Somehow in my mind I'm giving USCIS about 30 days after the bio appt to get the EAD going and about the same for a notice to interview.

If I don't get info on the EAD and a notice to interview by 4/20 I will start to get a little anxious. Just praying everything will work out the way we hope it will.

Does anyone know that if we haven't received an RFE at this point will we recieve one at all?

  3. My understanding is that USCIS is not required to return an original to you in situations where they do not request one but you send one anyway. In cases where they request an original you can request to have it returned once they've processed your case.

Thanks. I know we submitted the required documentation; I just don't remember if we sent the original or not. Reason being, I can't find the original. I have copies so that's good. I'll try to talk to USCIS and see wha they say. In the worst case scenario I'll try to request the original at the Interview.

Another question: At the interview, does the immigration officer actual have his hands on all of the documents (the packet) that we originally submitted? If so, that would be great.

  4. Hello all:

Before I post my question I just want to thank anyone associated with keeping this site going and to anyone that has helped us with info thus far.

Topic 1: My bio appt. letters have different names for my wife. One has her "first name, middle name, maiden name", the other has "first, middle, married". Her passport and drivers license has "first, maiden-married". USCIS said they could put another service request in to change the name in the system. The people at the ASC Bio appt. said that I should just wait for the interview and they can change it to whatever we want it to be.

Question 1: Should I just do the service request and have the name changed to "first, middle, married" and then change her passport and drivers license to reflect the same?

Question 2: Why do some people's cases get transferred and some do not? Does a transfer have an effect on the processing time?

    Thanks again!

  5. I agree. Biometrics was a breeze. Unless you have a criminal record, don't have an ID or something strange like that; biometrics is easier than getting a drivers license.

We went to our appointment and we were 30 minutes earlier. We checked in and nobody else was there so they just took us early.

We had one appt. at 2 and one at 3. We finished early and were out of there in 15 minutes.

If you're worrying about your biometrics appt. - don't.

Now the wait for the interview begins, right?

  6. Hello all:

Before I post my question I just want to thank anyone associated with keeping this site going and to anyone that has helped us with info thus far.

Topic: I found an error on the I-130 I submitted. I had the incorrect DOB for my wife. I called USCIS and they put in a service request to correct the error. They said that this wouldn't slow down the case.

Question 1: Is anyone familiar with the service request process and do you know if it will cause a delay in my processing?

Topic 2: My bio appt. letters have different names for my wife. One has her "first name, middle name, maiden name", the other has "first, middle, married". Her passport and drivers license has "first, maiden-married". USCIS said they could put another service request in to change the name in the system. They also told me to talk to the people at the ASC bio appt. and they could change it.

Question 2: Should I just do the service request and have the name changed to "first, middle, married" and then change her passport and drivers license to reflect the same?

Question 3: Why do some people's cases get transferred and some do not? Does a transfer have an effect on the processing time?

I hope I haven't posted too much. Should I post this somewhere else? Just so many questions as you all know! :)

    Thanks again!

  7. We received the biometrics appointment today. Actually we received two notices...one for the 485 and one for 765. One appointment is at 2pm and one is at 3pm on a Saturday.

    Questions:

    1. Is this normal to recieve a seperate biometric notice for both 485 and 765?

    2. Is it a good sign that we received the biometrics appointment relatively quickly?

    Thanks for any help.

  8. Thanks for the feedback. I will call them ASAP to inquire.

    1. What's the easiest and quickest way to talk with the right person about your case? Just call the main USCIS number? Or is there a better way?

Also, I tried to look up my cases online and I get an error saying that my file isn't found.

    2. Does it just take them awhile to update the online files?
