  1. Hello, I am US citizen and my spouse has no SSN or never worked in the USA. My spouse was a student many years ago but left the country after completed the study. She never had income in the USA but he works in her country right now. I believe I don't need to include her foreign income on my tax return right? This is my first time filing taxes after marriage. I will file my taxes "MARRIED FILING SEPERATLY" Turbo tax doesn't let me enter "NO SSN" for my spouse so I'm confused. Please help me with 3 simple questions that I have: 1 - Can I e-file my tax return? Which software/company is suggested to use? 2 - I heard I have to physically mail my taxes if I want to file "married filing separately" is this true? 3 - Is filing separately an issue at the interview? Thank you in advance. Joseph.
  2. Hi, I am naturalized us citizen and married my spose in our home country. We are originally from same country, my wife asked me a question and i cannot find the answer. of course i came here. thankful for you guys. I had a marriage and divorce years ago in Atlanta, Georgia. I don't think I registered that marriage/divorce (don't know if it is a requirement) in our foreign home country. My previous Marriage took place in the usa and we got divorced here legally in the usa. 5 years after this divorce i married my current wife. We married in our home country and she is now going through green card process there. She needs to submit divorce decree for my previous marriage which is fine. I have divorce decree issued here in the us. it is valid and good. Is the divorce decree acceptable and enough? in our case, it was issued by the state of Georgia. My wife asked me if the embassy needs to see divorce decree from the country where the embassy is? I am still a citizen of my home country but divorce doesn't exist there because marriage and divorce happened here in the usa years ago. I didn't even visit my country during that marriage so i think they were never informed about the marriage and divorce. I have submitted my divorce decree with I130 application. is that documentation enough for my wife to bring to interview? thank you guys, my question is simple but i hope i didn't make it sound complicated. Joseph.
  3. thank you very much you were great help. one last question about 130a. I left "blank" "empty" in the fields where it asked if "interpreter helped my spouse filled the form" we didn't put N/A in all of the fields. we just left them empty. do you think this will cause a denial or RFE?
  4. @Micam @pushbrk @Jeanne Adil @Dashinka @JeanneAdil Thank you all, So please correct me if I am wrong. I am worried about making a mistake I'm filing I-130 online for my wife who lives abroad. I'm submitting the form online and i'm filling everything they ask me, and I am only uploading documents that they ask for during online process. For example; if they are not asking for "birth certificate" it is not needed. It looks very simple and light so I wanted to make sure I'm not making a mistake. What i am about to submit is: Questions that I answered 1 passport style photo of each, Proof of marriage, Proof of us citizenship, Proof of relationship, (Bank statements, vacation receipts) Form I-130A (filled in PDF and uploaded) Photos of together That's it. No birth certificates, no tax returns, no cover letter. Everything is uploaded as PDF. Everything is translated in english. And I'm uploading originals in foreign language too. Does this sound correct? thank you if someone can take time answer.
  5. Hello, I completed my online I-130 form following this guide: 1 - Do I need a cover letter and table of content for filing I-130 online? 2 - Is it ok to upload documents in black and white? Or does it have to be in color? 3 - I am the US citizen(Naturalized, foreign born) who is submitting I-130 for my wife. Do I need to upload my birth certificate? I already uploaded my US passport for proof of citizenship. 4 - We don't need to upload birth certificates of foreign spouses, or police records for either of us at this stage, correct? thank you anyone who can reply.
  6. yeah the fact that my wife never used another name. please see the screenshot, i added the entire section. it is asking for full name(first, middle, last) and all of them don't apply to us. I left this blank, is this an issue? it doesn't make sense to enter "NO FIRST NAME" , "NO MIDDLE NAME" , "NO LAST NAME" thanks.
  7. Hi, sorry i'm confused. Are you saying I should type "NONE" in the middle name? But i'm afraid it may be interpreted as my middle name is None.
  8. Hi community, I'm just trying to avoid some stupid mistakes so please help me with this question. I researched this topic but found different answers. My wife hasn't used previous names before, but there is a section that asks "has the beneficiary used other names before.." Please see screenshot for reference. Should I enter N/A in each field or leave them empty? Also there is a field for "PROVIDENCE" in address information. We do not have "providence" in our country, should I leave this empty or N/A? Do we always need to enter N/A for every answer we don't have? Thank you for taking time if you can reply.
  9. hi, i have the same question. do you know if we need to upload photo of both people when submitting I-130 online?
  10. Hi everyone, I'm submitting i130 online for my wife. There is a question: When did your beneficiary's last marriage end? My wife never married before so there is nothing I can enter here but this field is a DATE field and it is forcing me to choose a date. I cannot type in this feild. I didn't choose "my wife was married before" to trigger this question. I'm worried about this because I can't continue without answering this question but the question isn't valid and I can't enter N/A or leave blank. Has anything had this issue like this or am I being computer stupid?
  11. thank you both so much. Do you know if we can combine our photos(5 of them) in 1 pdf? instead of uploading 100 photos, i can group them and upload 10 pdfs, is this okay?
  12. Hello, we are newly married couple. I (US citizen) will submit I-130 for my wife who lives outside of the US. My wife lives in europe. I work and live in the USA. I'm worried about supporting documents. I cannot add my wife to my bank, insurance etc because she doesn't have SSN. I called and asked all of them and they all say, person has to have SSN or tax ID. Since we live in different countries, we don't share an address. No joint lease. We live in different countries, we don't share phone, electric etc bill. We can open a joint bank account in her(also my original) country, but bank wants me to be there physically and I can't travel just for that soon. We have TONS(of 3 years) photos, wedding photo, we also have vacation/honeymoon receipts but this is it. I'm worried that this is not enough, can someone please suggest us what to do? What else can we add to our package?
  13. Hi, no she didn't. She never worked or applied for work, internship or any work related program. She was just full time student.
  14. Hi everyone, I'm filling a form for my wife. She is not in the usa She used to be a student for 3 months in the usa couple years ago. She used her F1 visa and she returned back to her country when her school finished. She never worked or applied for work/internship. She was just a student for 3 months and she returned back to her country years ago. Form I'm filing is asking if she had A-NUMBER. Does F1 visa give A-NUMBER? She doesn't remember anything about it. Her visa doesn't say anything about this. Not sure if she ever had this number. I will appreciate if anyone has answer. Thanks.
  15. thank you again, all clear except #2. I read that if she has F1 visa without work authorization, there is no A-NUMBER. Is this correct? Source: https://www.quora.com/What-is-A-Number-or-alien-registration-number-for-student-on-F1-visa. Is it a big deal if we enter all zeros but she has A-NUMBER somehow? She never worked or applied for work authorization while she was in the USA. Her visa doesn't have this number. She doesn't know anything about it so I'm trying to figure this out for her. thank you if you can provide thoughts on this again.
  16. Thank you so much, I just went through the form and instructions again but if you can please help with these details, I would appreciate. I can't be sure about these. 1 - What is your current spouse's legal name? Question: Do I put her old last name or current(my) last name? She changed her last name after marriage, but her passport and ID still have her old(original) last name. She plan to update these later but I don't know if this has to match her current passport. 2 - What is the beneficiary's A-Number? Question: My wife had F1 visa which she used to go to short student program 2 years ago. She returned back to her country. Does she have a-number since she had an F1 visa and returned back to her country. She never worked in the usa. Does F1 visa have A-Number? She doesn't know anything about this. She only attended a student program for 3 months. She came to the USA with an F1 visa and I20 document. 3 - When did your beneficiary's last marriage end? Question: My wife never married before. What should we enter here? It is a date field but my wife has never married before so this question is not valid for her. 4 - Where do we upload supporting documents like relationship proof? Photos etc? I can't find a section to upload these. Last section is review/submit but before that there is only upload section for citizenship and divorce proof. Again, much appreciated. these are my final problems with this form
  17. Hi everyone, I am about to submit I-130 for my wife online. I am curious why people are getting RFE? Is this like a lottery or do people really forget to send something or make a mistake? I wonder if there is anything i can do before submitting I130 online to avoid RFEs?
  18. can you please share potential problems with online form? I found it very easy to follow but i can also do paper if recommended. I am curious what part is glitchy and is there any downside of online submission? Our case: Filing I-130 for wife who lives outside of the US.
  19. thank you for answering! just had something else in mind: Do I fill Form I-130A on computer and upload/attach it to online submission as PDF? My marriage certificate(which ended in divorce) didnt change my last name but it did my ex wifes. The previous marriage certificate is not needed for the I-130 correct? only the divorce decree is needed.
  20. Is tax returns (of us citizen) required when submitting I-130? Or are they required at NVC stage? anyone knows? thanks.
  21. Hi everyone, before I ask these questions, I researched and followed the instructions here: https://www.visajourney.com/guides/ir1-spouse-visa/ Please believe that I read the instructions but I just have some simple questions that I don't want to make a mistake. Thanks so much if anyone can have patience and knowledge to help me with this. I'm a naturalized US citizen who had divorce 7 years ago. Now I'm married to my foreign citizen wife. I want to submit I-130 online for her. 1 - Do I need to send a previous marriage certificate which ended with divorce? 2- Form I-130 is asking if I(US CITIZEN) have an Alien registration number(A-NUMBER), I used to have one when I had my green card, but now I am a US citizen. Do I need to find my A-NUMBER and enter? 3 - For Affidavit from friends: Can we attach a PDF with name, phone and email without their signature? 4 - I don't see that tax returns of US citizens are required at this time with I-130, is this correct? Is this only required after I-130 is approved, or do i need to upload them to online form I-130? 5 - I also don't see that police report for immigrants is not required at this time with I-130, is this correct? Is this only required after I-130 is approved, or do i need to upload them to online form I-130? 6- I don't see that the birth certificate of FOREIGN SPOUSE is not required with I-130, is this correct? Is this only required after I-130 is approved, or do i need to upload them to online form I-130? 7- I know that I can fill G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance with form I-130, do I just upload this from as PDF to online submission? Thanks so much if anyone can have patience and knowledge to help me with this.
