No Colombia Club peeps from 2010-2011 are around anymore?

I was at a 'Colombiana' gathering in the Los Angeles area yesterday with my wife and our friends 'Derek y Sofia'. I met 'Derek y Sofia' here on VJ (Colombia Club) when Leidys and I were about to interview in Bogota in late '09.

Amazing how times fly, how' r u guys doing down in So Cali? The Jeep might be too big for her, I had a stick shift when my wife got here, we tried for a few weeks, i could see she was getting the hang of it, but stuggled with the shifting, so I got her an automatic maxima and she excelled and been driving ever since.

Life is good. Leidys and I are doing well. She listened to this in the Jeep this afternoon because I was tired of the Top-40 stations playing so many commercials. LOL I have been wanting to take a trip north - maybe next year if we have the funds. I will let you know if/when we do....

Good! I'm glad to hear it. So she's getting into the karts, huh?

Leidys needs to learn how to drive. I tried teaching her, but she almost wrecked. Maybe the Jeep is a little too big?

Haven't received the email yet, but I checked my account in CSC Visa Info Service page and the waybill is there ( ) and shows in transit. Wife's going tomorrow morning.

Based on what I've seen a lot of times DHL does not update their system and the only info you will get will be over the phone. Just keep in mind that a visa being delivered outside of Bogotá will take approximately 6-10 business days and 2-3 business days if being delivered in Bogotá.

6-10 business days sounds like what we experienced. Week and a half to Barranquilla. Then, the visa SAT on their shelf a few extra days (plus a weekend) before they got a call asking WHERE IS THE VISA?? Their response - We don't deliver to your barrio. You have to pick it up.

Hey ppl, my question to all and any who remember is, how did you guys get your waybill number for DHL once your visa was approved? Do you recall how long it took after the interview?

My fiancee got approval for K1 in the embassy on Jan 8th. I called today and they told me the passport went out yesterday. How do we know what the DHL tracking number is? Are there more documents coming along with the passport? The envelope my fiancee should not open?

Good to hear about your Passport/Visa arriving. When my Wife's K-1 was approved, she contacted the express carrier and they told her that they did not deliver to her barrio in Barranquilla. She had to travel downtown to pick it up herself. There was a little over 1 week of delivery time for this parcel to arrive in Barranquilla, but she wanted to stay an additional 6 weeks so that she could spend time with her family before packing up and moving here to be with me. It all worked out, but I know that this can be an anxiety-ridden process - start to finish.

Here are a few more items that I did not mention earlier;

Our file shipped out on 12/27, arrived on 12/28 - Reviewed/Approved on 1/8/13 (in Fresno, CA).

Your file shipped out on 12/20, arrived on (let's say) 12/26 - not much time difference as our package which shipped only 52 miles and followed (not preceeded) the Christmas Holiday. That slowed your package arrival down bigtime. Also, I read that the CSC does not collect Post Office mail on Saturdays.

Our I-797 arrived in the snail mail yesterday, from Fresno, CA. I know that mail originating from Central California (Fresno) to Southern California (Riverside) only takes 2 days at most to arrive. Keep those variables under consideration with regard to your immigration case. I am sure you will hear your good news within days because of the distance your mail has to cover in comparison to my mail. Good luck!

I see that u got ur conditions removed and i had couple of questionS. I sent in my RFE about the same time as u dec20 but have not heard anything.

1. Was ur Rfe specific or did the require all evidence?

2. Did u get a letter mail about approval or email?

Thanks again Colombia Club, Diana and VJ. We received our letter today congratulating Leidys and I for her complete removal of conditions - paving the way for her 10 yr. Green Card! These threads helped me from the assembling of Packets to the Embassy Interview process, even through the Adjustment of Status process. Now, we just have to wait a week or two for the Green Card to arrive, and this Spring, drive to Mexico for $1 Mahi Mahi Tacos and $3 Margaritas! Yippee!

The couple that my Wife and I saw that were both wearing business attire had an obvious age difference and they claimed to be from a religious background of some type. Everyone seemed to look at them more for the clothing than anything else. Most of the people you will see at the Embassy will be Colombians applying for visas, wearing dressy casual clothes.

I think it might raise some attention (and eyebrows) if you walk into the Embassy wearing a suit/tie/trench coat, hat, etc. Conversely, I met a couple at the Embassy - the beneficiary wore skin-tight jeans, top, and some sneakers while her Fiance wore faded jeans, t-shirt, motocross sweatshirt, was 1 week unshaved, looking like he went camping in the desert with his buddies. In the end, I believe they were approved, as it fell mainly on the paperwork they had to provide more than dressing like they were applying for a job.

Just be sure you have all of your paperwork in place. The motocross desert guy and his Medellin Fiancee complained about having to return to Medellin after not having an original birth certificate to provide the CO. We met another beneficiary who was turned down for her K-1 because she didn't have all of the paperwork required for her Visa. She had to make another appointment 1 month out in order to obtain the paperwork. The sad part was she wanted to explain this to her Fiance, but their language barrier was so bad that he couldn't understand anything she told him about why their K-1 was being temporarily denied.

My financee has her interview for K1 on Tuesday, Jan. 8th. I will be there for that. How do people normally dress for the event (that get approved)? Do they dress business attire? Business casual? Casual?

Casual - but dressed for cold weather and possibly drizzling, cloudiness. When I was in Bogota with my Wife, we saw a couple that were over-dressed in Business attire, but for the most part, you saw the Colombiana dressed in local casual attire, carrying around the ubiquitous envelope that each beneficiary is handed as you enter the Embassy.

I wore a pair of jeans, clean shoes, a lightweight jacket, and a casual dress shirt. My wife wore jeans, boots for the cold weather, a lightweight down jacket, a sweater underneath, and we tried to not look nervous as we handed the photographs and paperwork to the Consular Official. He watched my eyes like a hawk when he would ask me questions specific to dates along our personal timeline (i.e. - Which date we met, etc.). Good luck!

I-751 Sent = The Date you sent your application

NOA Date = The Receipt Date on your original NOA letter

Biometrics = The Date of your biometrics appointment

Approved = The Date your case was approved which is the date on your approval letter

GC Received = The Date you get your card in the mail, NOT the date on the letter

We were nervous about the package arriving at the CSC due to the Christmas holidays. The package arrived in just under 26 hours! Now, waiting for our approval!

Our package arrived at the PO Box late this morning!! No more worries on our part.

I dont trust USPS. I think you should use Fedex and you can use 2 day delivery and it will get there friday before 10am.

FedEx was not an option as the CSC receives their RFE paperwork at a Post Office Box.

**Update - USPS handled our packet yesterday, and its arrival is estimated to take place today after 12 noon. Thanks again, everybody for your advice on this!
