  1. When I do research in buying my tickets to fly to China, it takes me some time before I buy. My last trip, my first search come up with $1800. After a few more searchs here and there, found other routes, and dates, and ended up with paying $1400. Doing the same thing with the ticket for my wife to come to the USA in a few weeks. Started with a ticket price of about $1300. So far, I got a price of $800.

To start in the stocks, I do not know where to start, but will do some research..........

Your best way to start the search in stocks:

    1) www.nasdaq.com

    2) Your brokerage account

    3) Yahoo/Google Finance

    4) Learn the concepts from internet search

    5) Keep reading the up to date news, earnings, events etc. about the stock you are going to buy/sell

    6) Finally, bit luck (including me!) will increase the difference between the sell and buy, of course (sell-buy)!

    Good luck!

  2. I do not know anything about the stock market, but it sounds very interesting. I may have to do research, and invest a little in it this winter. Now that the Visa Process does not take so much of my time, I can get many of projects finished. When winter gets here, I will have more computer time.

***Happy Mothers Day*** to all the ladies out there.....

    Happy Mother's day to all!

Good luck Bob in stock market games

We don't need much research here, other than some basic concepts. Back in 2000s, I did more research and lost more, may be you'll have better luck in the research :star:

Good luck again Bob and build a strong diversified portfolio and book the profit when your set percentage reaches and rotate the money in other stocks

  3. Congrats Loto for the gain you've made so far and wish you good luck for your doubles forecast :) Happy Trading :D

    Malvika,

I couldn't book the profit today since it didn't reach my selling price target :crying: Then, it went down back to square one, but better than yesterday's close!

Now, see you BRCM on Monday :star:

People will see gas price drop by 40 to 50 cents next week :star: Oil plunged more than 12% in a week! Good didn't bet on oil stocks! BAC analyst told 2 weeks back crude will touch $150 soon!? They must have shorted it!

Bottom line: If analyst say to buy, sell it and vice versa :star:

  4. Happy Friday Folks :)

    Happy Friday, Malvika :star:

So far Friday is good with the job data :star:

Put the sell order of BRCM Jun Call at $1, setting a return of 42%. Not yet executed, but coming closer. It was down yesterday :star:

If this order gets executed overall portfolio return will be 15% in 8 days.

This is my plan, but plans are ALWAYS on paper :star: Once portfolio approx. doubles, withdraw all initial investment and play with the gain ONLY (Even 100% loss will wipe out only the gain!). Please bless me :star:

  5. It'll come back up in few days.

I am going to hold it and see how it goes next few days. For every preset drop, I'll accumuate the same to weighted average it.

BRCM is a good stock and it has been hammered a lot in the last 2 weeks time.

AKAM option that I sold out for 22.5% profit, would have been 90% return if I had sold out today. But, there is no "should have been", "would have been" in the stock market :star:

  6. AKAM Jun Call option 12.5% return in single hour. Target return is 25%! Come on AKAM :star:

Sold AKAM Jun Call Option and made 22.5% return in 2 to 3 hours time :star: Thanks AKAM!

Paid premium at $0.8 per contract and Sold at $0.98 permium per contract.

Congrats Bob for successful interview of your wife. Wish you both a happy re-union. :)

I hope all other folks are doing great as usual. :D

  7. Congrats on everyone who made progress. And good luck to everyone, especially Bob G in his upcoming interview. May good fortune smile upon you all. I am sorry for being away for a while. I am getting my house of cards in orders with my family, mom's illness, and some debt I incurred throughout the years. I plan to pay all these pesky loans off in few months.

Since most of us are done with immigration and realities of life are setting in, I hope you guys are planning for your retirement. You'll better have 401K, IRA's, 529, SEP's, term life insurances, etc.

    Here's a portfolio. I won't admit if it's mine or someone else.

Even if it's half wrong, $2 millions ain't exactly too shabby. :P

Disclaimers: I'm not a professional or certified financial advisor. Don't take my advice about finance. I won't be held responsible for anything, especially your financial mediocrity.

Image is NOT viewable to me :crying:

Retirement - so soon? I felt like a 17 years old boy back in 2009 and 2010 and it is still same

  8. Dinner - it reminded me food :innocent: Yum Yum :star:

Which is appropriate? Live to eat OR eat to live? If you carefully notice, food is common in both cases

BTW, I bought NOK and BAC today :star: Thumb rule - whenever I buy stocks, you can also buy in a day or two! Why? Because, after my buy, normally it goes down :star:

    Loto

Sold out both NOK and BAC. Very little gain in BAC, but some 3% return in NOK :star:

I don't want ~ 5.2% dividend of NOK :star: This stock might be hammered soon!

  9. "Grocery"........Same here, had to get a case of beer, try out the new frig.

And TV dinners. Where did the name "TV dinners" come from?

I do not watch much TV, if at all. Maybe I should call the dinners, "Computer Dinners". I found out how the "Hungry Man's Dinner" got it's name, after you eat one, you are hungry. :crying:

I hope my wife gets here soon...........

  10. Treadmill. I walk to the mailbox a couple times each day, that is my treadmill. Takes about 20 minutes to get to my mailbox and back. Before I went to China, I walked several times each day, trying to get the old body in a little better condition before I went on vacation..........

Ok, today is the first day of buying stocks in OptionsHouse after a long time :star:

Probably, some grocery buy as well in the evening :star:

  11. Just received the new frig, wow, very nice. Wife should be happy with it. The frig in our apartment in China is about half as big. I use ice trays also, where I can use filtered water. Unfiltered Virginia water makes terrible tasting ice. Cold beer tonight, yesssssssssssssss. and Pizza,,,,,,,,

Let the chill beat the warmth :star:

However, a cozy warmth under the blanket (you know when  ) in a chilled night (or at day?) drives the things crazy :bonk:

    Assorted cookies:

BTW, I ordered a NordiTrack T 5.3 Treadmill for home use yesterday. It is not hi-fi, but will serve the purpose :star: It is difficult (any EZ guys?) to figure it out how the figure must be :star:

If one has a pet (it is a baby ant), how can you view it? (Microscope!)

  12. Thanks Malvika,

We practive possible Interview Questions every night. Wife's English is getting better all the time. I tell "no small replys to questions". Getting the question correct is not the goal, but that the Interviewer knows you have a good understanding of what the question is about.

I hope I can get our home in order before she gets here. I just bought a new big refrigerator. Have been remodeling the kitchen to be closer to what she is use to.

    Good to hear it, Bob!

I bought 2 ice trays since our refrigerator does not have ice dispenser from $ store

  13. Welcome back Bob G. Good Luck for the upcoming interview. :D

Welcome Back Loto. I hope you had a wonderful trip to FL. :D

Glad to know that MB is in BD and having great time with his beloved ones :D

How're my VJ friends doing today? :D

Everything is fine Malvika, except the sun burn in Florida :star: Trip was good. How was your weekend?

We'll be traveling to Canada (Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal) during Memorial day holiday.
