  1. Our process is almost complete, I'll be moving to the US may 2nd. We're unsure when I should start applying for jobs. Do I have to wait until I recieve my SSN and greencard? Can I apply for jobs as soon as I'm in the US or could I start even before May? Thank you!
  2. Hello, Our CR1 visa has recently been approved and I'll enter the US in May. However, the address which we put as our future address will change before I receive the green card or social security number. Is there a way to notify the embassy of the change of address so that our documents arrive at the proper address?
  3. Hello, 1) We got our DQ letter today! On my wife’s documents it says “incomplete” for Petitioner/primary spouse. Once clicking on it, it says “federal income tax return/transcript missing”for her. She did not file taxes and she is a student. Her explanation for not filing taxes is approved and her I-864 is also approved. Our joint sponsor is approved too. Are we required to do anything else if my wife’s tax returns are labeled missing but everything else is DQ? We didn’t receive any additional letters or information regarding this. 2) Would we need to bring our joint sponsor’s (mom) original passport and driver license? Because it'd be difficult for us since she needs them. 3) Do we bring proof of domicile to the interview? We used her mom’s driving license, the deed to the house, household bills, and the most recent tax return as domicile proof. We no longer have the original household bills and she would need her driving license and would not feel comfortable having the original house deed being taken overseas.
  4. Hello, My wife didn't file taxes for the past 3 years since she's a student and unemployed. We're having difficulties with IRS on retrieving a verification of non-filing letter. Is a written, signed and dated explanation enough? Thank you
  5. Thank you so much! I have one more question. We read “Item 5: You must include each and every person whom you claimed as a dependent on your most recent tax return, even if that person is not related to you.” This confuses me. It is saying we should add my wife since she is a dependent on her mom’s tax return as an extra number onto the household size, but I am receiving advice to count household sizes between joint and primary sponsor as separate
  6. My wife, her mom, and her mom’s husband all live together. My wife is listed as a dependent on mom’s tax transcripts. My wife who is my primary sponsor listed herself and myself (the beneficiary) on her I-864 which makes 2 household members. Her mom who is the joint sponsor listed herself, her husband, and myself as the household members on her own separate I-864, which makes 3 household members. Did we do this correctly? From what I can see, a joint sponsor cannot combine income with the primary sponsor. A joint sponsor (mom) cannot list a primary sponsor (my wife) as a household member which makes it two separate households, two I-864s. They do live together so I’m wondering if we need to change anything. My wife makes 0 income as a student and her parents’ combined income is 130k.
  7. My wife and her parents live in the same house, should that be the same household size?
  8. Hey everyone, My wife and I are filling form I-864 and we have several questions: a) In Part 5 Sponsor's Household Size. "7. OPTIONAL: If you have siblings, parents, or adult children with the same principal residence who are combining their income with yours by submitting Form I-864A, enter the number here" Her mom will be our co-sponsor (so she files another form I-864), and her step-dad would be the only one filling the I-864A. But then the household size wouldn't match the proper number since it would give us a total of 3 even though it should be 4 of us. What should we put here? b) In Part 6 "Income you are using from any other person who was counted in your household size" if we don't add her mom to the household size in part 5 then in part 6 we shouldn't add her either, right? Since she would not be counted in the household size? Thank you!
  9. Hey everyone! My wife and I are currently gathering the documents for our NVC stage. I'm from Spain and we were wondering if there’s a special government seal, stamp, or letter you need to prove the translator is official? I've already contacted a notary but they don't provide translation services, so we're unsure where to find an official government translator Thank you!
  10. Hello, Once we are approved at interview stage and get granted the green card, how long do I have to enter the US?
  11. Hey guys! For the question in the i-130 form for a CR-1 spousal visa where it asks "At which U.S. Embassy or Consulate location will the beneficiary apply for an immigrant visa?" We put "Barcelona" as the answer but now we're unsure if that's the right answer since we found out Madrid does the interviews.
