  1. Thank you appleblossom. My question is , now do I have to point this out to the consular officer or do they already know this without me having to explain. And do you think they will push for state certifications or will they just be happy with the federal certification?
  2. My wife served as a missionary in Brazil over 10 years ago. And 8.5 years ago was the last time she was in Brazil, and she NEVER stayed in one state for more than 5 months. She had a religious visa. And no state ID.
  3. Brazil has only one in terms of immigration certificates. Thank you for telling the timing.
  4. Hello everyone. I need some help. Yesterday my wife had her interview for the cr1 visa in Peru . During the interview the officer noticed that her police records for Brazil were missing. My wife lived in Brazil for a year over a decade ago and we missed the fact that she needed police records from Brazil. The agent gave her a 221g form that instructed us to mail in the Brazilian police records. We wasted no time and did that right away. The have been mailed to the embassy and will be in the consulor section in the morning. Does ANYONE know how long this process will take? Hopefully it’s quick since it’s from something that happened 10 years ago and there are zero criminal charges against her at all, in fact she was a missionary in Brazil. They don’t specify a timeline but if anyone knows anything, please help us 🥺
  5. I got DQed on July 30th and I’m waiting too for Peru or nvv to sent us an interview letter. It looks like it should just take a month but can often take 2 months :(.
  6. So what you’re saying then is… in “theory”… I could have… let’s say… my mom open up a business and bring my wife to the US with a work visa even though she’s my wife cause we got married in Peru. And immigration won’t ask if she’s my wife? What are the repercussions if they do find out? Would it be misrepresentation even though my mom does need an employee technically?
  7. What if say I was a US citizen and already married to my Peruvian wife in Peru, but since I live in the US and she lives in Peru and the i130 takes too long then instead I don’t file the i130 and have a close family member/relative who owns a business bring my wife to the US as an employee of theirs and when she gets here I can change her status. Would that work? note: I already filed the i130 long ago but a customer of mine just recently told me he did something along these lines to bring his wife to the US sooner. I didn’t know if he was BSing me or this method could really work. Anyone got an answer?
  8. Greetings! My spouse is in Peru too. We just got to the nvc stage. I hope your visa journey is going well. If you don’t mind me asking, how long did you wait for your documents to be approved in the nvc? After 14 months of waiting at uscis I feel like I just can’t wait anymore. Hopefully it’s just a little bit more before I can see my spouse again :(.

Thank you for your response. If I may ask… how difficult was it? I’ve read on here that the nvc process is difficult and confusing and that many get their papers reject. Also did you have to apostilize the police records and get them officially translated? I apologize if I’m asking a lot, I just can’t seem to get a clear answer anywhere. As of right now I just sent my tax return for last year the i864.

Hi! no problem with asking :) yes one of our documents was rejected (twice) in my case was the birth certificate because it was missing the official stamp from RENIEC (a Peruvian entity), unfortunately when a document gets denied and you submit it again you have to wait another 13 days or so for them to review your case :( I didn't apostille or translate any of the documents you mention and they were all accepted, make sure you scan them properly without any part cut or covered (this is the reason why they rejected the birth certificate the first time). I hope that helps!

Hello. Hope your visa journey is going well. I just got DQed on July 30th and I was wondering how long until you received your interview letter from your DQ date? Btw, thank you so much for your tip on the reniec birth certificate, it really helped us get DQed fast.

  9. After 14 months of waiting, my wife’s i130 petition was finally approved and sent to the nvc last week! I have 2 questions I need help with: 1) I just submitted the i864 and the DS260. Now what comes next? And how long until she gets an interview date? She is in Peru? 2) big question. I was able to submit my most recent tax return and it shows I make double the amount required for the 2 of us. I started a new job as of February of 2023 though and I submitted scanned copies of the last 5 months of paychecks as well as a written letter from my new boss at the new barbershop that I will be expected to make at least double the required income. My question is that I hear they also want W2s and 1099s and I don’t have copies of that for last year. Does that really matter or will I be okay with what I submitted? This is taking place in Peru. Please help me understand this, thank you.
