  1. Or maybe not, that rule may not apply to stepchildren -- not sure.
  2. As an aside, I think my minor stepchild might be entitled to become a citizen on arrival.
  3. I will try persuading her of course, but was wondering what happens if she does finally decide stay back, will that cause an issue for my spouse and minor stepchild who are immigrating?
  4. My spouse and two stepchildren (one minor, one 23 year old adult whose age was frozen due to CSPA) got their respective (independent) IR1 and IR2 visas to travel to the US. The adult stepchild has now decided to stay back in the home country and effectively abandon their IR2. Will this affect in any way my spouse or minor stepchild who will be traveling to the US soon?
  5. I am, this probably belongs in the US citizens bringing family members to the US forum... my bad.
  6. My question though is that Is this something that the interviewing officer will expect him to be aware of during the visa interview ?
  7. Child is aware that his last name is different and is aware of the fathers name in his passport, but we have never really explicitly discussed this subject with him, and he calls me dad. I was wondering if we need to explicitly discuss his stepchild status with him prior to the interview to prepare him for it.
  8. My Wife and 10 yr old stepchild are waiting to be scheduled for an IR1 / IR2 interview. Biological father has not met his child since he was born, I and my wife have been married since the boy was a toddler, and wife has full custody and guardianship in her divorce decree. Will the child need to be fully aware of the details regarding his stepchild status or his biological father such as name location and birthdate for the interview ? Generally what kind of questions could the child expect to answer in is his interview?
