Maybe you already know this, but just want to flag that if the beneficiary has lived anywhere outside of the UK for over six months they will need also see a police certificate for that country. I know it doesn't say that on anything, but we also ran into this issue even though beneficiary (husband) has not lived in his home country since he was 3 years old, we still had to get an additional police certificate for his birth country.

Thank you, we do have enough liquid assets, my concern right now is they're 90% in GBP and 10% in USD. Unsure if this matters?

Yes, but Embassy has already said my current income doesn't count as I haven't worked there long enough to file taxes.

Well we ran into a bit of an issue during husband (beneficiary)'s recent appointment so I am hoping to get some advice here. Basically my (USC)'s I-864 was insufficient because while I filed taxes abroad every year while being employed and living in the UK, those income counted as 0 and therefore not met the minimum income level. Just wanted to ask if it's better at this point to just count all of husband's foreign liquid assets, and my savings (all of these accounts our separate, as in they're his foreign assets and my foreign assets) which would put us comfortable over 3x the requirement. We do not have any US assets. Or should we just find a joint sponsor which is what the embassy recommended (as it seems to be a more common path people take). Thanks!

I-864 will be submitted once the embassy approves your initial I-130. They will mail you a letter with this link: https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/how-to-apply-2/ and ask you to complete all the steps and ignoring the NVC part. Your foreign spouse will be bringing the I-864 with them to their appointment.

Sorry for the delay @JRoo! Things have been a bit hectic as you might imagine. We did hear back roughly 5 days after submitting request for DCF, with an appointment two weeks after for the petitioner (me, USC) to file the I-130 in person at the US Embassy in London. Finished my appointment so now we're waiting for the email from the embassy with next steps and appointment for the beneficiary (husband). I think I'll write a more detailed timeline once we're all done with the process. Not much to update for now as we're still in the middle of it all. All the best!

Ok thanks everyone, I will apply for an FOIA and attach both that and my N-565 as evidence when I submit my I-130. I hadn't realized applying for FOIA was an option, this is very helpful thank you! I don't, unfortunately. I haven't seen it for years and I literally have no recollection where it might have gone. I have already filed and paid for N-565 (replacement), which includes me filing a police report for the missing certificate. I suppose I could print out copies with me when I go to the embassy. I'm just unsure about the following: 1. Should I answer "no" or "yes" for #38 2. Should I write "lost, applied for replacement" in #39a

Hi all, Had a question about a few fields in I-130 — I'm putting it in here as it seems to have a bit more activity, hope this is okay mods? I am a USC (petitioner) filing for my husband (beneficiary) and I’m running into some questions on filling out I-130. I am a naturalized citizen, however, I lost my naturalization certificate several years ago. I've since applied for a new one but I can't wait for it before I submit my I-130. I have a valid US passport. I'm applying through DCF, and so will be filing in-person. Is it a good idea for me to write "lost, applied for replacement" in the field where it asks for my certificate number? In addition, I already have a USCIS account number because of my application for replacement of my certificate. Should I use this number in my I-130 application too? What about my original Alien number from when I moved to USA prior to becoming citizen? Or is this no longer applicable since I'm USC? Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hi @SalishSea — Yes, sorry if it was unclear. I meant 3-5 days to hear back on whether the embassy will accept the case after requesting DCF. We understand after this initial stage it will still take up to 12 weeks after acceptance. And I agree on cutting it close, but the job offer came fast after we wanted to get married so we've had to scramble a bit!

Hi @JRoo — I only submitted the DCF request on 18 June, I haven't heard back yet but will keep you posted when I do. Re: housing — I'm relocating back to where I used to live and my state license is still tied to the same address which is the one I'll use (my US bank and credit cards are tied to this address). If I were in your position I would probably put a family member's address or where your US bank address is tied to. But to be honest, I'm very new to the process so other people may be better informed than me on this forum. Best of luck to you.
