  1. This may be pertinent. 9 FAM 504.4-8 (U) PLACE OF APPLICATION 9 FAM 504.4 (U) PRE-APPOINTMENT PROCESSING (state.gov)
  2. Right. By lived in, I assumed that was referring to places where I have resided.
  3. PD: Jan 20, 2023 Category: EB-1 Chargeability: ROW Consulate: Mumbai, India DQ: March 30, 2023. IL: Aug 02, 2023. Interview: Sept 20, 2023. Visa issued! Also received the passport and visa packet. And paid the USCIS immigrant fee. First interview was to check civil documents. They just confirmed the information they had. The actual visa interview was short. "What are your educational qualifications?" "What are all the countries you have lived in?" What are your plans after you land in the US?" "Do you have any documents about the speeding ticket that was disclosed on the DS-260?" "Your visa is approved." The consular officer accidentally returned my passport back to me, but then I alerted him and he wanted it back. The CEAC status changed to "Administrative Processing" for two hours. Then it changed to "Issued". Next day, I received notification that the passport was ready for pickup. As others have stated, the interview is not adversarial. While the Department of State is charged with checking labor certification related matters, EB-1 lacks labor certification. So they are not supposed to readjudicate the petition, other than check for any evidence of misrepresentation or fraud. I do not have a job offer in the US. I said that once I land in the US, I will begin to apply and contact my network. That was accepted without comment.
  4. My case: Consulate: Mumbai Category: EB-1 DQ: March 30, 2023 Interview Letter: August 02, 2023 Interview Date: September 20, 2023 Mumbai consulate is picking up pace, since the student visa rush is over. As long as your PD is current, I would not be surprised if you receive your interview letter in September or October. All the best.
  5. Actually, they were even quicker before the student visa rush in Summer. Mumbai has been doing an excellent job recently. The US Mission in India has made a big deal about getting back on track. And I have to say, it is impressive to see the progress. By the end of the year, I think that the pandemic backlog would be fully cleared for immigrant visas. Visa availability and retrogression is a separate mess of course.
  6. Update for Category: IR5 DQ date range: Roughly February 09, 2023 to March 23, 2023 Interview Letter Date: July 11, 2023 Interview Date Range: All of September 2023 It would be good to have an update from CR1/IR1 folks. Do they treat the two major immediate relative category in the same queue? Is the DQ range, interview letter, and interview date range the same?
  7. Category: IR5 DQ date range: All of December 2022 and January 2023 Interview Letter Date: June 16, 2023 Interview Date Range: All of August 2023
  8. I strongly suspect that the student visa rush is causing a slowdown. Things will pick back up in a few weeks.

  11. Right. It is about 70 days. The US Mission in India has been working very hard to recover from the pandemic. I am quite astonished with their commendable progress. Things may be a bit slower for me by two weeks or so because of the F-1 student rush in the next few months. Even so, I consider myself quite fortunate in this regard. Mumbai has been balancing the workload for IR, FB, and EB cases to improve all of them. Unlike say Montreal, which in my opinion is doing a horrendous job dealing with the backlog.
  12. Collected some data from another forum for Mumbai. Mumbai has been doing a lot better than many other places. Even so, the wait is dreadful.
