  1. There has always been an issue with Ahmedabad Passport Office while issuing PCC. This topic has been discussed numerous times on VJ. So far best discussion about the topic is available from this post. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=122056

Please read carefully about all the post and educate yourself so your spouses who has to get PCC can answer Ahmedabad Passport office people. Good luck.

  2. My wife lives in Gujarat. She lived in Mangelore for about 5 year during her study. She only got PCC from locat police district office in Gujarat and Passport office in Ahmedabad. I sent all paperwork to NVC and NVC completed my case on Nov 21, 2008 without RFE.

As per reciprocity documents PCC from passport office

"All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office. These are usually more dependable than those obtained at a local level and indicate that the subject had no serious criminal convictions on record at the time of passport issuance."

In India only two PCC is required as per American Consulate. See this thread from Parul. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=1877178

    Good luck

  3. My comment/tips applies only for cases whose beneficiary living in Gujarat, INDIA and who has to get PCC from Ahmedabad passport office.

I sent my wife DS-230 cover letter from James's shortcut as soon as I got real NVC file #. I noticed that in Gujarat most police stations and passport office refer to as "BMB Number". Also, I printed all paperwork in US in letter size, as most people in India use A4 size and sent to India via regular mail. When employees at police station and passport pick up paper they seems to notice size of paper and don't usually ask any further questions as they assumed that paper really came from US. I also noticed that they did not care about NOA2 as it did not have NVC case # printed in it. Still it took more than a month to get PCC from District police station and Passport office.

Having noticed this pattern I advised one of my relative who was also going thorough CR1 process to send DS-230 cover letter printed with fake BMB# and was able to successfully get PCC from district police station and Ahmedabad passport office. However, if you apply too early before your approval then you can have big problem getting PCC again as PCC will expire in 6 months, and you need to have valid PCC at the time of your Interview. It takes estimated 2 months after your case completes at NVC to get Interview at Mumbai consulate.

  4. Before you reply to this post, CJ actually asked question many months ago.

I am an early march 2008 filer and just called USCIS out of curiosity today to feel what the expected approval time is for the I-130. They gave me a number that ruined my weekend. They said on average it takes about 9 months for applications to get approved!:crying:

####### is going on? It means it will take a year from my wifey to get here. I am absolutely shattered to hear this...

This is atrocious...USC's spouses shouldn't be kept apart for this long unless the situation warrants.

To boot, our case is one of the simpler ones that they will receive!

Somebody posts some good news to make my weekend go any better... :(

  5. I just prepared my I-864 EZ package two days ago.

You can send your last pay stub, as long as it would display your last 6 months of pay. As long as gross pay on you pay stub displays enough income and in year 2007 you have more than enough income you should not worry about it.

You may use cover letter to have details of all items included in your I-864 EZ package.

Don't forget to put NVC case # in upper right hand corner of every page including I-864 EZ.

  6. HOW SO YOU SEND THIS FORMS VIA E-MAIL. IS THERE AN NVC WEBSITE. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME!!

    jenny-n-jean,

First understand regular NVC process http://www.visajourney.com/examples/NVC_Pr...wchart_v1-2.pdf. Then, you can checkout James's shortcut on Wiki page http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Jame%27s_Shortcut. Step 1, DS-3032 option 2 would have a link to e-mail steps.

You can check a link to e-mail template. http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form . This template is as per NVC standards and can be used as alternative to sending DS-3032 form.

  7. Lindsay,

Most of time NVC is much faster at issuing DS3032 after NOA-2. Therefore, I think it is safe to assume that NVC will issue DS-3032 after 4-5 days. If you send e-mail then it still takes about 4-5 days to send response back. You can still take a risk and send an e-mail. However, just few months ago someone from this forum sent and e-mail and got rejection e-mail after few days. I assume if this type of e-mail might increase workload of NVC then they might start rejecting e-mail (just wild guess).

I got my DS-3032 generated on 10/02/2008 and I NVC assigned case on 09/29/2008. You and I have exactly one day differerce of NVC case assignment. You can talk to live operator on monday and possibly hear good news.

  8. NVC introduced online payment in April, but there were a lot of issues with site as NVC never made online payment official. In April NVC updated their site with info about online payment but in few days this site was not available. I guess within last few weeks NVC updated their website again with online payment information and started out giving IIN as a part of I-864 fee bill.

In the past when people were using James's shortcuts, NVC process would take about 80-120 days on average. After NVC, US consulate would take another 50-90 days to schedule interview. Keep in mind that in James's shortcuts petitioner still waits for IV fee bill to get generated and sent to them after DS-3032 email is approved. Considering the fact that all people used James's shortcuts then it would still take about 130-210 days from NOA 2 to Interview.

Now, with online payment system available, you can finish NVC section in about 25-60 days then US consulate still takes 50-90 days to schedule interview. Nowadays, most appointment post US Consulates are much faster due to fact that NVC would handle most of paperwork before interview. As per this trend, it will take about 75-150 days from NOA2 to Interview. Keep in mind that use of online payment assumes having IIN by calling NVC and some persons would give up as NVC reps will say no for few times.

  9. need help filling out ds230 - list all places of residence. Here is the question, my wife leaved in hostel for 3 years while in college. Should we list that as a residence and if so, do we need to obtain PCC from there. We have gotten one from her current, where she has pretty much lived all her life. I am leaning not putting that down as a place where she resided.

Kman, my wife also stayed in hostel for 3 years while in college. I put that address in G325A along with I-130. NVC will also receive a copy of G-325A from USCIS. I would suggest that you put down all residence information identical to G325A, as NVC might reject DS-230 based on wrong information.

Also in India you do not need to have more than 2 PCC. Check out this thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry1877178
