  1. Hello everyone, I have recently gotten married and just started my CR1 Visa process. My wife is from the Philippines and was just curious if she'd be able to visit me on a tourist visa? Are the chances very slim to get approved even if she's able to prove ties to Philippines like job, mortgage, etc? Any insight on this would be much appreciated. I'm planning on visiting her next year but if she can come here instead that'd be much better.
  2. Hello friends, I'm working on filing a I-130 petition for my wife in the Philippines. We just got our PSA marriage certificate but we are stuck on the part where they require Additional Proof of Marriage. They state acceptable proof is: Documents showing joint ownership of property A lease showing joint tenancy of a common residence, meaning you both live at the same address together Documents showing that you and your spouse have combined financial resources Birth certificates of children born to you and your spouse together Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship. Each affidavit must contain the full name and address of the person making the affidavit, dates and place of birth of the person making the affidavit; and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge of you marriage. Any other relevant documentation to establish that there is an ongoing marital union. Me and my wife do not have any of the first 3 options as we are recently married and don't share any leases, children, or joint ownership of property. Are the affidavits enough evidence? We can obtain many from family and friends. But just want to make sure I'm providing enough evidence. Also, what other relevant documentation could be used to establish an ongoing marital union? Any help or advice would be very much appreciated, thanks.
  3. So we already have Certified True Copy of the marriage certificate. Am I able to use that? Or should I wait for the official copy of the PSA
  4. Hello everybody, I recently just got married overseas to my fiancé in the Philippines. We are about to start the CR-1 process and just wanted some insight on how the process is like. One question I have was if we have to wait for the PSA marriage certificate before we can file the I-130? Also what should be included in proof of relationship? Any knowledge on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  5. Is the PSA certificate required? Would a certified true copy from the city or municipal hall not work?
  6. So this is the part me and my fiancé are confused on. I've heard that the ROM is not required to file a CR-1 but heard it will be required for a CFO. And that she cannot leave the Philippines without the CFO. Is this true? We have no issue with filing a ROM through the consulate in San Fransisco but I've heard recently they are starting to not accept ROM involving an online marriage and even if it was accepted, it would take 6-12 months to officially get the PSA certificate. Obviously, we could file the CR-1 without the PSA certificate right?
  7. Yes, my plan is to still travel to Philippines in august to fulfill that prerequisite. If however we still decided to marry in the Philippines along with the Utah marriage, would that cause any issues with the CR-1 filing? And would I still need to file a ROM with the Philippine consulate in San Fransisco?
  8. Hello guys, I am planning on filing a CR-1 visa for my Filipina fiancé later this year. My original plan was to marry her in August or September in the Philippines when I visit again. However, upon further research I see that the marriage process in the Philippines is rather lengthy and complicated. I have been recently informed about online marriage and that the USCIS recognizes them as being valid for CR-1. Specifically through the state of Utah. I am very skeptical about this process as it seems to go to be true. Does anyone have more insight on this? I understand that you can marry online now, but we would still have to wait until we meet again in person before we can file the CR-1. Is this a viable alternative for us instead of marrying in the Philippines? Also if anyone has other suggestions of alternatives we have instead of marrying in Philippines like alternative countries that would be great too. Thanks!
  9. Hello all, Recently I've been assembling my K-1 packet to petition my Filipina fiancé. Upon further research, it seems that the CR-1 seems to be the faster option of the two. Just wanted to get some insight on people who have knowledge on this subject. My current situation is I can file the I-129F for the K-1 this month and get it started. My other option, is to travel back to the Philippines in either August or September and marry my fiancé and file a CR-1. My goal is to get my fiancé to America as fast as possible and I'm not entirely sure which route would be best for me. I know CR-1 recently have shorter processing times but I've always heard K-1 processing time is starting to shorten soon as well. Any tips or advice would be appreciated, thanks!
  10. My fiancé and I have considered going the CR1 route. It seems that it would better suit us at this point and requires less money and complexity. The advantage of the K-1 though was I'd be able to file now then wait until February (earliest) to see her in person again and marry before filing the CR-1. However, upon further research, it seems the CR-1 timeline tends to be quicker than the K-1 currently. Is this true?
  11. Hello, This is my first post on this forum. Me and my fiancé first met on Instagram last year around August. However, we didn’t really start talking until January when she saw that I was on vacation in Philippines (her home country). We decided to meet in in February, and basically was love at first sight. I spent a week there and then flew her to Cebu to meet my family and she spent two weeks there until I flew back to the US. We’ve been together officially since end of February and we both decided we want to spend the rest of our lives together shortly after. I actually asked her to marry me April 4 over FaceTime but promised her I would do an actual proposal when I see her in person again. We want to go ahead and start the process of a K-1 especially knowing the long timeline of the process but we’re worried our short relationship will be a red flag. I was thinking that by the time she gets an interview, the relationship will be well over a year and a half. Do the consulate officers take that into account? Currently, we have a good amount of evidence of a genuine ongoing relationship. (Pictures, gift receipts, iMessage logs, video chat logs, FaceTime screenshots, etc.) but the relationship is short, and I’ve only seen her in person once. She has photos with my family as well. I’m not sure if any of this matters if the short duration of the relationship will come into question. Any advice on this situation would be appreciated. Thanks!
