  1. Good for you-!!! :)

Great news! Are you having a second wedding? Your timeline says you became legal on 29 May.

yeah we got married about 10 days after she got here in the couthouse! We were not sure about her relatives geting their visas and how long it would take if it would be with in 90 days! But now we are doing a big celebration because her family will be here too!

    hey thats awesome!!!!

  2. i am a very sensitive person, unless you are al-qaida or taliban, and all i could see in my head, was poor crushed chinese people when i read what he wrote.

So we can't debate religion, can we debate the geo-political social climate that's tied to religion? Or the connection between crushed Chinese people and Al-Qaida/Taliban and how they affect our sensitivities?

I would die for this woman, not for a damn parking place.

"Did you really shoot that man over a parking space?" .................. "When you're older, you'll understand." (Time for the movie trivia again.)

it was not christian like,it was quite mercenary.......

.....when i wrote the post,i had been up for 27 hours straight,no food, and loaded with caffeine. i didnt sleep the next day either, but adrenaline, happiness helped.(and prayers!):)

Ah hah! So you are a Christian mercenary! That kind of sleep deprivation only comes with serious training from Langley or Quantico or even in the field somewhere like Camp X-Ray. There's a place in North Carolina that's big on training that sort of thing but they've come under increased scrutiny lately because some of their guys shot up a bunch of civilians after being awake for so long. Proof positive that running on two or three days without sleep is sometimes not the best for cognitive reasoning.

maybe, and no you cant have my chicken cavatelli mre. but ill make you apple crisp and some ranger pudding if u like :)

  3. Well, I got the first part right. Regular readers may recall that all those months ago, when

Hillary Clinton was a dead cert for the Democratic nomination and John McCain was the RINO

("Republican in Name Only") outsider who had too many enemies within his own party to be

a plausible candidate, I went out on a crazy limb and predicted <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml?xml=/opinion/2008/01/07/do0703.xml" target="_blank">that Barack Obama and McCain

would be fighting each other</a> for the presidency come November.

So now for the second half of my prediction: that John McCain would win the general election.

    do0901.jpg

John McCain seems more able to relate comfortably to ordinary

    working people than Barack Obama

This bit may seem even more far-fetched, especially if you are following all this through the

eyes of the British media, whose cynicism about domestic politics seems to be bizarrely

mirrored (which is to say, reversed) by naivety about American politics. But I am standing by it.

If anything, the events of the past few days have confirmed my view.

Why? Because the historical point that should have looked like Obama's irreversible moment

of destiny - the vanquishing of his immensely powerful rival, Mrs Clinton - did not, in fact, lift

    him into clear triumphal territory.

Given the ecstasy of his own followers and the support he has had from the mainstream media

in the United States, that event should have brought with it a sense of inevitability, an

overwhelming tide of belief that he was now unstoppable: that the future belonged to him.

It should, in short, have given him a real bounce in the polls. But it didn't. What he got was a

    very small spike.

The two polls taken immediately after Hillary's withdrawal speech (and her effusive expression

of support for him) gave Obama leads so small as to be virtually within the margin of error.

Some of this could be put down to the disappointment of Clinton followers, which may be

expected to dissipate over the coming months. But the other explanation is that Obama's support

has peaked: that his coalition of the young, the urban liberal and the black community has

already max-ed out at its highest point and is going nowhere from there.

It is not really difficult to make a case for that being so. Even his supporters among the

American commentariat are unsure whether Obama is the liberal dream of a reincarnation of

John Kennedy (or, in some versions of the script, Bobby Kennedy) or the liberal nightmare

of George McGovern, who assembled an almost identical Left-liberal coalition of idealistic

supporters in 1972 and went on to win exactly one state in the presidential election.

Only the context in which this election is to be held can tell us whether Obama is likely to be

one more false liberal dawn or the beginning of a new era in US political life. And the context

is this: dire economic news (the Dow Jones fell 400 points last Friday; unemployment figures

and the price of oil were both up) means real insecurity at home, particularly for working-class

voters, and the continuing threat from Iran means that foreign policy judgments are going

to be seen as crucial to American national security.

Those two factors are going to be increasingly important over the five months leading up to

the general election, while Iraq is going to recede as an issue. In fact, since Obama is rapidly

"walking back" (as the Americans say) his demand for an immediate withdrawal from Iraq,

the most important distinction between the candidates is likely to be a measure of how much

they seem genuinely to identify with the interests of the US troops there.

So how do the two biggest issues - the economy and the aggressive threats from Iran - play

for the two men? It is certainly true that economic hard times tend to be good for Democrats.

They are still the party of Franklin Roosevelt, of the New Deal (which rescued so many poor

Americans from the worst effects of the Depression) and of a general sense of being "for the

little guy" when capitalism gets rough.

And given that the hard times have developed under a Republican administration that is widely

loathed for all sorts of reasons, this must be good news for Obama, right? Well, maybe.

Except that he has shown himself to be profoundly unable to communicate with the little guys.

The blue-collar workers who normally look to the Democrats for succour see him not only as

a member of a privileged elite who has little understanding of their problems and who may

actually despise their attitudes and assumptions, but as a man who has alarmingly little

    experience of government and leadership.

Obama's brilliantly effective strategy for winning the nomination involved effectively writing off

many of the big states with large working-class populations and, so far, he has offered almost

nothing by way of practical remedies to the country's economic problems: his oratory may lift

the heart as Franklin Roosevelt's did ("we have nothing to fear but fear itself") but it is

singularly lacking in the sort of substantive programmes that gave substance to Roosevelt's

    inspirational message.

But it is also true that John McCain is not a market leader on economics. He, too, is from a

privileged background. Interestingly, however, he seems more able to relate comfortably

to ordinary working people than Obama.

This may well be a function of his background as a military officer who was conspicuously

loyal to his men, having refused to abandon them when he was offered release from a

    Vietnamese POW camp.

And this brings me to what may still prove to be the most significant fact about McCain:

he is a war hero. (Indeed, in this respect, he bears more of a resemblance to John Kennedy

    than does Obama.)

He has proved himself to be unflinching in danger and courageous under fire. When people

(especially Americans, who still regard military bravery as an exemplar of virtue) come to

choose the man to lead them through a crisis, that will count for a lot.

To European eyes (and to some American ones, too) this is an election to determine how

America sees itself: can it elect its first black president? Can it present itself to the world in

an entirely new guise - as a member of the modern European club of social democratic

    societies?

But to most Americans - the ones who are less beguiled by rhetoric and more concerned

with financial survival, and those who need practical reassurance more than inspiration -

this election will be about proven character and tested judgment.

whats that AEROSMITH song..oh yeah here it is- DREAM ON. hes soo fake its unbeleivable. he cant even tell a joke on tv without looking stupid. no offense to you,but hes not my candidate.

  4. I would just like to say congratulations to everyone who has received their visa, and thank those who prayed for us,or had positive thoughts or whatever. i really very much appreciate everything.

i havent posted in a while, because i have been very busy readying everything. also,i did not mean in any way to cause a religious debate.( sorry slim)

IMO religion is mans attempt to get to god. i dont need religion,i know what i have to do.

the books already been written on what to do,you just have to pay attention,do what it says, live by the rules.

nowhere in the rules, does it say anything about letting GOD or your belief in him,be used as a doormat.

eekee, thank you for your honesty, funny thing is, ive had agnostic friends my whole life, we respect each other, and just dont go there in discussion, unless im asked a question.

i never try to force my beliefs down anyones throat.

there is scientific proof from reliable, respected university sources on the power of prayer. do yourself a favor, look it up.

    lvivlovers,

you are right,i was taken aback and angered that mr. diver decided to pee in my cornflakes.

its kindof like an old man who wins the lottery, walks out of the store and gets crippled by passing car.

now theres an analogy for you.

i am a very sensitive person, unless you are al-qaida or taliban, and all i could see in my head, was poor crushed chinese people when i read what he wrote.

maybe he was tired, like me,but i forgive him.

and the comment about the parking place,i understand what he was trying to say,but as eekee said, there really is no comparison there, and it was a very poor analogy.

I would die for this woman, not for a damn parking place. kindof brings a lack of depth in feeling to the surface.

    as for my poor response-

he is right it was not christian like,it was quite mercenary, but sometimes that part of me cannot be contained when the right buttons are pushed,we are not perfect, just forgiven.

when i wrote the post,i had been up for 27 hours straight,no food, and loaded with caffeine. i didnt sleep the next day either, but adrenaline, happiness helped.(and prayers!):)

    btw-

i actually have some friends who live in atlanta,russian/south african couple who are very very nice people. they have helped myself and elena from the beginning.

    if youre interested,pm me.

thank you for coming to my defense while i was away.

my little sister also lives there.

poka, ill keep you posted- NATIVE FLORIDIAN

  5. Great info. Thanks. We were worried a little because her visa will expire on June 22nd. And I wasn't sure if we needed to file before that date. We haven't officially dropped the latest news on VJ, but I guess I should tell you all now. We are pregnant! And we are busier than ever trying to get everything just right. So, we thought about waiting to adjust her status. She's concerned about vaccinations and other shots she may receive during her medical for AOS. I certainly do not want to wait until after the birth to adjust status, but I needed to know if we could wait at least some time before doing so. Thanks again everyone.

congratulations!!!!!! btw, lena was approved the 20th, got her visa friday! i hope to be in the same position(maybe bad choice of words:) ) in a few months as you guys.we wondered how you were doing.

  6. Good luck! I am sure you will be fine. :)

to those who understood what i asked,i thank you for your thoughts and prayers, very much appreciated and i will return the favor.

for those who didnt, thats ok too. by the way SHE GOT HER VISA AT 3AM EST. she was first in, first out,and i will post review later as told by her.

to the cynics, atheists and whoever else may pop up with a fancy hip modern title i appreciate your view, and you have a right to it,its what makes america great!( slim- this is not directed to you but the jackass who made the stupid china crack)

    - having said that- i wasnt speaking to you to pray for me. i dont ask of what you cannot possibly give or comprehend. why respond at all? but i will pray for you because you need it more than i.

you may not beleive in god,but he believes in you,and if youre right, and im wrong, it doesnt really matter does it?. but if i am right and you are wrong, better start listening to that little voice inside called your conscience, becuase hes everybodys god,not just mine.:) and do i think he has time for me? you bet i do, and you too. omnipotence and omnipresence.

it is a terrible tragedy what happened in china, and terrible things happen all over the world. why would you bring that up? terrible things are happening here in our own backyard everyday, but do you see progress or a public outcry for anything besides cheap gas?

did you want to pick a fight or something or look cool? did mama not give you enough titty as a baby and make you the way you are, devoid of compassion for another? was the penile ruler unkind to you in gym class? lighten up man. life is too short to be so angry all the time. get a job,get plastic sugery, get a bike, get a tattoo, masturbate,do something interesting besides making whacko statements like that.

  7. my lady is on her way to moscow embassy, standing in line i imagine at this very moment,im rushing through everything in my head we went over together the last week, all questions we think they will ask based on what i have read here, any possible scenario that might pop up unexpectedly. we have all documents,a lawyer, all things in order,AND IM STILL AS NERVOUS AS A GERBIL IN A KEY WEST PET SHOP ON FRIDAY NIGHT!:)

i cant sleep, and she didnt sleep all night either. i called to her at 540 am her time to wake her up,but low and behold, she was very much AWAKE.

i ask everyone here who will, to please pray for our success,as many of us on here have, her and i have been through much since jan 2007,when we first began speaking. i love her soo much. thank you to all for your advice and help, and i promise to write a review of moscow after we find out,im thinking about 330 this morning,i should know. thank you again to jason/sasha,because sasha talked to my lady and it helped alot with her questions about interview.

to corey /mariya-congratulations!!!! soon you will be together!!!!- David

I think everything will be fine, the only thing that worries me is you got a lawyer... EWWWWW hope he/she doesn't screw it up for yah!!!

I wish you the best of luck, although you probably do not need it.

    thanks alot, really.

i proofread all my documents from lawyer before i sent them 3 times, glad i did, because they didnt list my daughter as a partial dependent of mine,(part time dad, i pay child support)so i added her. this would have been a BIG mistake! that being said,he pumped out the financial documents to me and mailed them ALL IN ONE DAY! my cpa's fault, not lawyers.

the only hithng that worries me is, we havent set a specific date for marraige yet,and i told elena to tell them the truth, that is we are waiting for the visa before we buy plane ticket, and make final arrangements as they state to do on their website.(we followed their directions)

  9. but with Mr. Heston gone now, seems like his life's work might have actually done something.

Yeah, shame about that. Great actor, loved his movies. Hate the NRA. (flame away boys, I'm a gun owner too but the NRA will never see a dime from me.)

Every generation has its doomsday scenario.

But one of these generations is actually going to have a doomsday scenario.

Yeah, well every generation has been saying that too. Ever since cavemen took to writing, there's been a kook on the street corner with a sign saying "The End is near!" So enjoy your survival training, I'll be sitting here in Starbucks with my triple-shot carmel iced macchiato with sprinkles (light on the foam please) pretending to be all intellectual and stuff while surfing pr0n on my Macbook. ;)

uhhhhh,i have no response to that.....and i think its working now, after i finally got tmobile to admit they are the problem, not russia is as always assumed. they wouldnt even check into it until more people called with same issue. fartknockers.

i called my buddy, had lena send his att mobile sms,he recieved her SMS no problem, and that proved they had poop on their faces. i called and bitched, nuff said. its like every disease always seems to come from africa right?- WRONG. katastrofa.

  11. "Too much documents Keerk!! Too much!!" LOL

Knock on wood, Ira was a trooper with the documents. Of course, I was the one freaking out due to philosophical objections to having our privacy invaded. Once Ira is here, safely, and her status is legally sound, I plan to found an organization geared toward doing everything possible to raise hell for the USCIS and DOS. Somebody's got to jar these agencies out of their complacency.

    :bonk:

    Z

let me know when you do that, ill be a very loud protester.

  12. When you compare the death toll of Hurricane Katrina to the actual population of the stricken areas, it's actually very VERY low. Where you see high death rates are in areas of least technological progress, such as Mexico City. I think there's a pretty direct correlation to the level of technology and the level of survivability without a lot of it.

    slim,

i agree that we have gone soft, and perhaps our society needs some spinal viagra, and some education on basic survival, just in case.

    but to be honest,if everyone survives,it makes it that much harder on those with the skills. dont worry about mine..we will be fine;

i have survived in-20 degrees F,not wimpy C:) for over 24 hours at high altitude carrying a 75 lb. rucksack, not that impressive, until you consider the fact that we were marching ALL NIGHT LONG.done the same in 120f desert heat, full battle rattle, mop gear and all until the point of hallucination.

i know how to extract water from dead plants and animals,as well as live ones, turn salt water into fresh, turn an MRE into a gourmet meal, booze,or bomb if u wish, drink my own urine(havent tried that just yet:)eat bugs, kill a man with a shoelace a needle and a straw,(or a reed)- can you say-BLOWGUN? make a very nice fire or weapon with household chemicals, catch fish with spider webs, twine from my fancy wal mart socks, all that mcgyver rambo #######, to sum it all up,

i can survive and thrive anywhere, sea, air or land,in any climate. BUT I STILL WANT MY GIRLS MESSAGES!!! she is not here yet, so this is how we stay in touch thorought the day.(but I CANT SPELL!!) we cannot coordinate times we will be speaking,if we dont know the others schedule,as we both have to work.(curse of the drinking people) im having withdrawals.....ahhhhhh

  13. Nope... I called it a couple of hours ago. :)

Tele2 in Saint Petersburg must also be having problems.Last night and all today,no sms or phone calls go through.

It's not such a concern for me, since he's a programmer so he's at the computer all day. If I send him a message on googletalk or an email he'll get it, and my phone has the capabilities for both. Plus they're free and SMS to Russia isn't.

i actually have the opposite problem--i get his SMSs, he doesn't get mine. i have t-mobile as well.

    ...

    I'm sorry to hear that.

Actually I've just found out that there people here, who use other phone companies and they have started experiencing the same problem with sending sms to t-mobile two days ago. Maybe you should consider calling your company?

thanks alot t&h,and everybody on here. lena has now called megafon twice, the second time with the same result you just had.:) ive already called tmobile, and checked everything, here it is ok.

  14. heres the sutuation,Lena has megafone.i have t-mobile. we have been text messaging(sms) for over a year back and forth. i can recieve local sms,i can send her sms,and she recieves it,she can recieve local moscow sms,but i cannot recieve her sms now for 2 days!! anyone else having trouble??? she has called me 2 times asking why i didnt text her back, ive called t mobile and they said its not on us side, they cant see any problems here. she said she has called megafone, and they said they dont know why either, what gives???? we have tried the remove your sim card trick, and the power on and off trick. nothing is working.

  15. Seeing the big scars people who went to school in the soviet union have from their immunizations, her upset is understandable. Ouch!

As i recall, someone on this board--Blues Fairy?--was in the same situation as Nadya and she just went to the nurse or something of a local school and had them fill out an immunization history for her of the standard ones USSR schoolchildren had to get.

Yeah I think it was Blues Fairy.

Nadya's a nurse so I'm sure she's got connections to hook her up with the right documentation. As Slim is fond of saying, these ladies know their way around a system. I'm not too worried. And if we don't have to pay for more immunizations, no complaints here. :)

    thats AWESOME!!!! congratulations!!

  16. :dance::dance: Today's the day! :dance::dance:

I'm leaving in 30 minutes for the airport. Will finally get to welcome my sweet Sasha to our new home. I'm so very excited.... I'll meet her in NY and we'll fly to Richmond together. We've been waiting for this day since she returned to Russia in 2006. I remember how broken hearted we that day. Our visa journey had not yet begun and the uncertainty for the future was unbearable. But after a year and a half she will return to our cozy little city. :D This is like a dream come true that I'm sure everyone here will experience soon, if they haven't already. Thanks again, to everyone of you for making this community what it is. :) ....

I better go now. Can't sit still.

jason, congratulations on sasha's arrival. please keep us updated on your stories. and thank u again for your help.

  17. hey- im going to be working in usa during her interview,i cant be with her unfortunately. is that ok? ive been to russia 2 times in 9 months last year to see her,and yes i have all proofs.

Yep, no need to be there for the interview, they won't hold it against you. You can't go in with her anyway. Congrats on the interview btw, it's a relief when it happens, isn't it? :)

like the big dumb guy said in the stephen king movie"the stand". "laws yes!". HUGE RELIEF!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH. the night she arrives- AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    HHHHH:)

  18. I emailed them once a week. Although it takes 2-3 days to get a response, they do always let you know. (ConsulMo@state.gov).

I would try to get some cash back from that paralegal! In my case, the interview was scheduled just under 60 days from their acknowledgment of petition receipt.

yes, slim ill do just that.:) after a few kind irish limericks:) i called on friday at 1am est,(moscow is 7 hours ahead of us now due to time change) bit the bullet and used the credit card with the info service listed on the moscow embassy's website. the nice russian lady, very polite, took my info, and said,"call back today after 5pm moscow time,i will put inquiry, and you will know." next morning, fiancee sent me sms message stating she had called public number to embassy in moscow, they told her to" call back monday!", and she said to me"dear, dont call to them, maybe we will know monday...."

i said ok, but it just reminded me to call back info line:) so out came the old credit card and i called info line again. same lady, she said to me,"your fiancee's interview is scheduled for 20 may,8am."" spasibo balshoye! "i said. called my girl and told her. she asked me how i found out, i said"i know people, who know people":) thanks alot! now i have to update my timeline.

hey- im going to be working in usa during her interview,i cant be with her unfortunately. is that ok? ive been to russia 2 times in 9 months last year to see her,and yes i have all proofs.

  19. I've found they update it every two weeks or so, give or take.

thanks very much everyone, very very helpful. and i would like to publicly thank Sasha, she called my fiance the other day to answer some of her questions. it helped alot. she told about how long it takes. now I have these questions:) my paralegal is telling me- currently, the moscow embassy is taking 120 days from approval date to interview!!!!!!#######? 120 days?? on our forum it says only 63 days average.(once they recieve.) i am expecting a may interview. am i crazy or what?? i told him he should check the forums and not his slow officeaverages. i also told him that visa journey missed my approval date by ONE day. should have given visa journey my 2000.00 instead.

  20. hello, all, i was just wondering a few things, the moscow embassy has recieved our approved petition from NVC on march 6th. now it is the 19th,and i still dont see our MOS number listed on the appointment website. why is that? it says site is updated every monday at 8 am,moscow time. it now goes up to may 13th, but i dont see our mos number anywhere, what gives? she just sent off her application on monday by the way. when should i expect to see the number online? im worried a little. thank you in advance.

  21. As I understand it bisexuality is indeed the same as any other sexual orientation, something you are born with.

well,it certainly would make it easier to get a date on friday night. i knew i loved women since i was maybe 4. i NEVER thought girls were yuk, and in fact have flirted with them every since.
