  1. Hi everyone!

Just wanted to let everyone know that WE ARE IN CDJ NOW...I had my medical interview yesterday (Monday 2nd) and I went to the embassy today (Tuesday 3rd).

We're staying at LOS CEDROS hotel, and we really loved it! it's only a few blocks away from the Consulate, cheap ($550 pesos/day), wireless internet, an awesome hot breakfast buffet, security is pretty tight with a gate at the entrance, staff, and security cameras all over....

anyway, now here's the "juicy" part, the embassy interview:

Wow, good info here. I didn't know that the waiting room had people who don't speak Spanish very well. At least they're not the ones conducting the interviews for our loved ones who mainly speak Spanish.

As for the birth certificate, did your fiancee not have her passport with her? I think that would've been enough to establish US citizenship. I'm a naturalized citizen, so I'll have my fiance hold onto my citizenship certificate and passport.

    HI,

yeah well the thing is she does not have a passport and apparently the short version of her birth certificate is not enough proof to establish citizenship. We just got a faxed copy to our hotel room and the overnighted original will get here tomorrow. Hopefully after all this the consular officer will issue the visa!

    Stay tuned :)

We had breakfast (it opened at 7.30am), and then left around 8.10, the taxi was taking too long so we were considering taking our car but it showed up at the last minute, so I showed up at the embassy a little late (8.30am), most people were already inside but I was given a paper ticket with a #, and so the waiting began....when my number was called (around 10.20am) everything went fine through the first document screening, she basically confirmed my data about the place I live in Mexico, where does she lives in the US, the medical exam...I was told to wait again for the fingerprinting phase...

I waited another 10min and my name was called along with 5-6 other people, the lady doing the fingerprinting and calling the names over the PA speaker was clearly not really fluent in spanish and had a little accent pronouncing the names (like Rodriguez, Martinez, etc.) so I greeted her in english and she said that her spanish is not so good, that all she knows is basically how to tell the instructions to place your finger in the scanner and go to building "B".

I then proceeded to the next waiting area, which is outside the Building B, so it's just covered with a metallic roof, the fans were not on (starts to get really hot here in Juarez after noon), but it was pretty bearable, i waited until around 12.15pm and then my name was called over the PA speaker, so I proceeded to window #28, this consular officer the first thing he told me was that the USC birth certificate was NOT GOOD and we were gonna need the "long" version, that list the hospital, date, hour of birth, the one we file was the short version...he basically told me that he could not issue a visa without it!

so, he gave me a blue slip to go back the next day, which sucks because i really wanted to get the visa today but as long as I get it...so my fiancee is here with me so we called her mom to fax us a copy and overnight the document, so hopefully tomorrow all of my documents will be complete and my visa will be issued.

So I guess the lesson here is: BRING ALONG THE PETITIONER (US CITIZEN) LONG, CERTIFIED BIRTH CERTIFICATE!

It also annoys me that none of this is listed on the CDJ website, also I did not read that anywhere in the forum but here we are so....

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

  3. I also would like to make an update...we were supposedly going for the K1 Interview this week...but my aunt hasn't signed the I-184 Affidavit of Support...we're pretty scared because apparently she does not want to give out all her income info and sign the affidavit and my fiancee Karla does not meet the income requirements for sponsorship...

We're pretty much all set on everything else we are just gonna wait if one of her closest friends can be her co-sponsor or if my aunt changes her mind.

I also have bank account statements showing about 9,000dlls with several deposits from the past 3 months but no official letter from the bank. How would that look for the interview? those are my funds readily available to be transferred to a US bank account.

    Thanks and god bless all.

    Jose

  4. Does anyone know what my fiancee is trying to tell me here:

Recuerdas que te mencione algo acerca de mi pasaporte, en la última pagina, en la última hoja en la portada de atrás color azul marino gruesa del pasaporte; sobre el código de barras tiene un sello con la letra "A". Ese sello es nuevo y no se que significa.

Apparently she says there is a letter "A" above the bar code on the last sheet of paper in her passport. She only went to the medical exam so I don't know how she could have received something in her passport. Maybe it was there the whole time and she just thinks it is new?

    Hi there.

I checked my husbands passport and he also has this letter A on the last page (back cover page) of the passport. It's a large A, stamped in Black. You are right, it may have been there the whole time...or maybe they stamped it there on the first time when she went to the interview and she never saw it.

I'll check my passport (Mexican) and I HAVE NOT went through the interview process so I'll let you guys know how if my "untouched" passport appears the same...I'll post an answer tonite.

  5. How do you find when the consulate receives your case? By calling their 900 number? In that case, how long would you advice me to wait before calling? (calling NVC is free, but that 900 charges 1.25 per minute, right?).

    Thanks!

    Juan Carlos.

    Thanks Juan Carlos!

You find that the Consulate receives your case when you get your APPOINTMENT LETTER, and you have to take that along with your other form to the interview...

I tried the 900 number that is listed on both the appt letter and the website and i couldn't get through! I thought it was because my ph landline had restricted access so I called my ph company and even the operator tried to dial the # and she couldn't get through either! so I had to dial the 800 # and charge my credit card $7.00 for the entire call (which is not a bad idea considering you can ask all the questions you want, because the whole call is paid for)...

So Juan Carlos, I'd advise for you to wait until you get your Appt letter in the mail and then call the Consulate to make sure they got it.

    God Bless,

    Jose

  6. Just to let everyone know that we will be heading to our K1 Visa interview on April 22-34 (Medical and Embassy).

We figured out that leaving on Monday and having the medical on Tuesday and the interview on Wednesday would be a good idea since most people do it Monday-Tuesday.

Also, one question, she will be driving a RENTAL CAR from San Antonio to El Paso and she doesn't know if she can enter and drive the car in Juarez?? we don't want to get in trouble, she's a US Citizen and I guess she wouldn't have trouble driving back to El Paso on her own, just want to know if in Cd Juarez would she need to fill out a form? I know most border towns is pretty common to see cars with US License Plates so if anyone knows about this it would be helpful.

    OUR INTERVIEW PACKAGE:

DS-156 (filled online, bar coded and duplicate, unsigned)

    DS-156K

    DS-157 (I'm a male)

I-134 from my fiance with her tax returns

I-134 from my aunt with her tax returns

    Intent to marry letter, unsigned

    Pictures

    Online chat transcripts

    ---------------------------------

ANY COMMENTS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! when approved we'll have a huge family party in San Marcos,TX! (celebrating my birthday also, May 7th)

    God bless,

    Jose y Karla

  7. Hi to everyone,

My name's Jose and I'll be at my interview at the consulate for my K1 Visa very shortly!

My fiance Karla does not meet the income requirements for the affidavit of support.

My aunt (US Citizen) meets the requirements by far and she agreed to sign and present copies of her tax returns.

So how do I fill out the I-864? the first affidavit should be my fiance checking box "e" on the first part, saying she's the first joint sponsor and

my aunt filling out the same form checking box "e" saying she's the second joint sponsor?

In the Form instructions it says that "A joint sponsor does not have to be related to the intending immigrant." does that mean my aunt won't qualify?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  8. I am going to go see a movie to take my mind off of things. Do you think this movie will be therapeutic or will it only make things worse!!!! You will be surprised when you see the trailer! Looks good, but really sad. I think everyone in this forum should go see it. Here is the link:

La misma luna (Under the Same Moon)

I'll look for this movie.....and thanks for the info on both of my questions...good luck to you and Diana!!!! let us know what happens!

  9. OUR K1 VISA CASE MUST BE ONE OF THE FASTEST TO DATE!!! :)

    Check our timeline:

    Filing: Feb 27, 08

    NOA1: March 02,08

    NOA2 (Approved): March 21st, 08!!

Consulate appointment notice (CDJ): April 2, 2008

WE'RE READY TO GO!!! in less than 40 days!!!

Now this thread has proven sooo useful for our incoming appt in CDJ (now I know where to stay, what to expect from the medical interview, the actual embassy interview).

I have a few questions though:

Does my birth certificate (I'm the mexican beneficiary) needs to be translated? if so, where can I do that??

For financial support do I need to file 2 Affidavits because my girlfriend does not meet the poverty guidelines and my aunt which is a USC she meets by far any support requirements...will I need to get anything else? I don't have a bank account but I could take a few thousands of dollars in travelers checks for the interview and prove immediate solvency....

This is soooo exciting! we'll probably be in CDJ at the end of this month (April 08) and I'll post any news!!!

  10. I have this question: we got our NOA2 (very fast by the way, less than 1 month!) and now we're kind of preparing for the Medical and Visa Interview at the US Embassy in Mexico City. The question is:

can my fiance come with me and attend this interview at the embassy? is this permitted? I'm asking because some 2 years ago when I applied for my tourist visa they have a lot of security screening to gain entrance at the embassy...I just don't want to waste money paying for her to come to find out she cannot come with me to the interview.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
