  1. the embassy is also asking for "Original Birth certificate with English translation for (Saraku, Himari)" what do we do? She was born in Japan and her Japanese family registry has (Sakura, toyota/english).
  2. My wife's interview is around the corner and I have a few questions. CR-1 Tokyo Embassy 1. Do I need a physical letter from the Embassy about the interview appointment or do I print the email? I have 1 email from NVC for Interview appointment but haven't received any physical letter yet. 2. Do we need any documents for dual citizenship with different names? My wife was born in Japan but had dual citizenship because her mother is from a different country. My wife has different names in each country. Japan name is "Sakura, English" but used to be "Sakura, Toyota". In mothers country, her name is "Saraku, Himari". The embassy is asking for "Original Legal name change from Himari Saraku, to Toyota Sakura with English translation" we have her original Japanese family registry that shows she was born in Japan, and her name change from "Sakura, Toyota" to "Sakura, English". She never got a name change in her mothers country and never registered our marriage.
  3. my wife is Japanese living in Japan. the embassy website says I need to bring a letter from immigration to get the P.C. im not sure if this is just for the Tokyo police HQ, or for every one in japan. My wife has limited paid time off and we dont want to waste it. would the I-130 receipt be enough?
  4. I filed in October of 2022. My USCIS account has my estimated time at 4 weeks. I am getting everything ready for the NVC stage and only things left is the Police certificat for Japan. Is there a way to get the P.C. before the I-130 is approved? How soon after the I-130 approval are the welcome letter or instructions for NVC available? (assuming the fees are paid as soon as possible) Japans Police certificates are good for 6 months, and they come in a sealed envelope. Would there be any issue with getting a the P.C. now, scanning it for NVC, and then getting a new one in 5 months? It would take about 3-4 weeks to get a P.C.
  5. Thank you, this helps me worry a little less. Hoping to make things as easy as possible for my kid. I will. at the very least ill get some experience. I am probably worrying more than I should, but will try to relax. I will request the expedited visa. probably wont get approved, but it should give me something to do while I wait. i probably wont reply any more. Thank you everyone for the advice and support.
  6. ive looked into international schools, and it might be an option. the nearest one is about an hour away, and only has a couple classes in english. its a possability, and ill look into it more. i have been looking at the visajourney timeline. I will be living with family and already know the school that they will be going to. sent a message to the school, but haven't heard anything yet. ill update my timeline here.
  7. I filed October 2022. most estimates put us around October of 2024 for the US. Transferring isn't the big issue. The issue is language. my wife and I speak English to our kids, and they understand us, but outside everything is Japanese, and they talk in Japanese. They aren't use to speaking English 24/7, and having them start school late will only make the language problem more obvious.
  8. thank you, I didnt think about that. It will probably have to be some kind of virtual school since im working full time and cant home school. true, and I might. Not entirely sure what evidence I would submit.
  9. I already know that. I guess I need to re-phrase the question. Is there any way to arrive together before August of 2024? looks like my only options are to either take my kid early kicking and screaming, or wait for his moms visa, and have him start school late with a language that he has very little practice with outside of home. trying to figure out if there are other options.
  10. My oldest kid will start 1st grade in Japan April 2024, and will continue until we leave. The school in the US will start in August, but the earliest estimate for being in the US is October or later. The oldest is very attached to mom and doesn't want to leave her, so going ahead isn't a good option. Is there a way to expedite the visa so we can arrive together before the August start time for my kids school? I'm assuming that an expedited request will be denied. Just hoping I'm missing something. Im worried that he might have problems if he starts school late and doesn't have time to adjust. would my wife getting accepted into a program at a college or university help?
  11. I will be getting flexible tickets. trying to figure out at what point or date would be ok to pick dates. I'm assuming either when it goes to NVC, or the Consulate. I know is risky, but buying tickets on short notice costs nearly 2x as much as buying in advance.
  12. I-130 submitted October 2022. Nebraska service center. Assuming because receipt letter came from there. Japan Tokyo Embassy married (living together) for 5 years, with kids. kids have CRBA and US passports. Money is saved and any fees can be payed as soon as its possible. Sister with husband will be joint sponsor. All paperwork is filled out, signed and scanned to pdf, along with supporting documents. they'll send their paystubs when I-130 is approved. will take time off work as soon as possible to fill out online forms, and get Japanese Police certificate. All documents, supporting documents, and any translations are scanned into pdf and ready. using visajourney timeline NOA1>NOA2 = 381 NVC = 207 Tokyo Embassy = 124 receive paperwork= 30 Total = 724 this puts me at around September/Ocotober 2024. Questions: At what point is it safe to buy tickets to the US? I have family that want to come visit so they can return with us to the states, and help with our kids flight. Does it really take 207 days for NVC? I have all the paperwork, translated by professional, with any possible supporting documents. Is it possible to request an earlier Interview date at the Embassy? Ive seen people have issues with NVC accepting the Japanese Police certificate because it comes in a sealed envelope. would it be a good idea to include a letter about it being acceptable? Im assuming that the I-130 will be approved this year, and I can submit the I-864 soon after. will I have to re-submit a new I-864 for the new tax year in 2024? any other advice? Im check visajourney topics regularly.
