I filed Jan 11 through Tucson. Completed biometrics early Feb in Detroit. As of 8/29 they were doing an FBI name check... it's hard for me to sort through everything on mobile. Are others waiting on Tucson?

I'm a Canadian citizen if that makes a difference. Filed as a 5 year holder instead of 3 year marriage, maybe that was a mistake? Super bummed I won't get this done in time to vote.

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before. I was very active in the VJ forums in my earlier days of immigrating and applied for N-400 in 01/2016.

I recently inquired about my case status and they are doing an FBI name check as of 8/29/2016. I had completed my biometrics in 2/2016.

How long does the name check typically take, and from then how long am I looking at to go through the rest of the steps to take the oath? My local office is Detroit, MI.

Who said this? The person who did your biometrics? In that case I wouldn't be placing too much weight to what she said. Thing is, they are only allowed to do fingerprinting, and they know whatever the result is of your petition, you will always receive a letter (which could be an RFE, interview, production, denial, anything really) after doing the biometrics. There is no way they can see what your status is (also because these are mostly part timers, the one who did me this time also still goes to school, for example), and this is also why she couldn't tell you what kind of letter you would be getting.

Hehe, I can also state everyone will receive a letter, but I have no clue what it will be lol.. don't worry, you will be receiving a letter, I don't know when, I don't know what it will be saying, but you will receive one

Yeah the person who did the bio. I thought I had read somewhere that someone was told at their bio appt they we're getting their green card right away. I wouldn't have put all my faith in that person either way. Now to wait once again...

Just had my biometrics at the Chicago support center. She couldn't tell me whether I'll have to have an interview, she just said I'll be getting a letter in the mail. Fingers crossed it'll be a letter notifying me of production of my Green Card!

We did and my lawyer agreed with me about doing it.

Does my husband need to be at the appointment with me? They're only taking fingerprints, correct? I didn't think it was necessary, but now I'm questioning it.

Just received my ASC Appointment Notice dated 02/07/2011. Biometrics is for 03/07/2011, but I might have to reschedule because of school.

Are you trying with the NOA number or the Biometrics number? The NOA number doesn't work.

That would be why! I hope I get my biometrics letter this week, I'm starting to wonder where it is!

I was able to log in to check my case status - mine is under Initial Review.

Under the initial review, there is an instruction/procedure, as follows:

"...If you have filed an I-751, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment."

How were you able to check your status? I tried my receipt number (or what I thought was it - WAC...) and nothing's coming up.

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently putting together my I-751 package and am having my lawyer double check the form before I send it off (hopefully this week). I'm wondering if I should wait a bit to file or not. My husband and I will be going out of town Dec 19 - Jan 1. I assume USCIS shuts down for at least a couple days over the holidays and I should be safe. I just don't want to come home to find out that I missed my biometrics appointment! My Green Card expires at the beginning of March.

Any thoughts?

Hope everyone is doing great. I had a question I was hoping could be answered. I received my conditional Green Card last mnth. Prior to that I had an EAD and had applied for a Social Security Card based on my EAD. I had receieved my SS card with the annotaion "valid for work only with DHS authorization". My question is now that I have a conditional Green Card (based on marriage to a USC) can I get a Social Security Card with this particular annotation removed? Or is the unrestricted SS Card only for those with a Permanent Resident Card i.e not conditional? Please do let me know the answer to this question. Thank you everyone in advance for your help.

Hello Nickle, you can remove the notation of your SS card.... just visit your local SSA office and ask them to remove the notation.....you need to bring your green card as well as your SSN card. I just received my green card last month and I went to my local SSA office to remove the notation written in my card.

Hubby is gonna wear nice pants and shirt but the twist is he wants to wear his converse .

He thinks its ok because when we got married he wore converse!! What do u guys think??

I think you can get away with converse... like I said there was a huge mix of what people were wearing. In my opinion I think you should dress nicely, and respectfully. I think chucks are ok if he wears a nice shirt.

no need to buy a new outfit, only if you want to a cute dress with a sweater, or pants and a nice top would do fine!

I know this may be a stupid question, but I've been wondering...

What should one wear to the interview?

When my husband had his interview for the K-1 in London, he wore dress pants and a button down collared shirt even though his normal way to dress is a black tshirt and jeans with a studded belt and some converse chucks hi-tops

I wore black pants, a button up collared shirt, and closed toed flats. I normally wear jeans and a t-shirt/tank top. My hubby also wore nice pants and a shirt.

I saw people wearing jeans, crop-tops (midriff baring), and other things I thought were totally inappropriate. I would suggest wearing something similar to what you'd wear to a job interview. Dress to impress.

I got an email this morning saying my AP had been approved, finally my case seems to be moving, hopefully I will hear about my EAD soon. Any ideas how soon after AP that EAD is approved please.

I received my EAD in the mail about 4 days after the AP. I believe there was a weekend in there too.

And yes, at least he can work now! He doesn't have a "real" job yet, but the past few days he has been helping my brother at the hardware store he manages by putting together barbecue grills and patio furniture sets and helping on deliveries. It's nothing permanent, but at least he is getting some money and not feeling so bored and useless

Money is good. I'm still looking for a job (since the beginning of March) and can't find anything! I'm not being picky either...applying to everything I am capable of. Hopefully something happens for me soon.

I have a question about the interview....

On the letter with the interview date, in the checklist of things it says to bring it says the I-693 (unless already submitted)

when we sent our paperwork, we didn't send in an I-693, we sent in a copy of the DS-3025 with a letter stating that the necessary paperwork should have been included in the sealed envelope turned in at POE and that if further evidence was needed, we would send it in.

We never got an RFE for the I-693, so assumed that all the proper paperwork was received.

Now I am worried that they will ask for one at the interview. Also with it coming up on being nearly a year since my husband's medical was done in London (June 30, 2008), I'm afraid if we contact a civil surgeon they will refuse to transcribe his vaccination chart without doing a full medical. When I had begun calling around to the ones in the area when we were initially compiling the paperwork for AOS in November of last year, they were basically refusing to only transcribe at that point as well and were very reluctantly giving me prices of like $100US for transcribing.

I know about Dr Arnold and know many people have gone that route and not had problems, but I'm still wary of doing that.

My husband does not have a job yet and we don't have the money this month to pay for a full medical again or even only getting his DS-3025 transcribed at the prices if I find someone here to do it.

What do you think we should do?

ETA: also...if we go to the interview without it, and they ask for it...would they give us an RFE at that point to go and get it transcribed?

I'm making assumptions... I think that if there was anything missing (ie. different medical forms) from your application they would have sent you an RFE. I'm pretty sure that if they request something you can't show they will ask you to produce it (RFE) at a later date. This may prolong the process, but at least your hubby can already work, right?

I wasn't asked for my medical at my interview.
